Tanked against the Tiges

Featured Replies

Maybe Bailey left the box early to run up to the time keeper and stop him from blowing the siren till the tigs kicked a goal....the look on his face wen we hit the front could justify this hahah

One thing that does concern me with all the tanking talk and the events of yesterday is how the playing group feel. If they are getting told internally that we are playing to win, but because of the public attention and the "player management" going on begin to question things, can there be a respect issue with the coach. The players were either great actors, or were totally devastated by the loss yesterday. Could they now feel that Bailey isn't on their side and that he deliberately manufactured the loss? Can this cause long term trust issues?

Some will say the players aren't paid to think etc etc, but I think that is a little bit simplistic.

You raise a good point.

The way things have transpired, I'd hope that the communication between players and coaches is excellent. That the players know they will be switched around to different positions, that the coaches will be experimenting this way, that way, yet the players are instructed to do their best no matter what.

I'm sure this is the case anyway. So they all know where they stand.

In fact, it might just help the players adapt to different situations in different positions and something might come of it. Some better all round players might be developed in the process. Even extra trade value perhaps?

One thing Jade Rawlings would know. It would be darn hard to coach against. He would have been happy, but totally bamboozled with what unfolded.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG after a dismal performance in Gather Round to face the reigning dual Premiers Brisbane. What do expect to see from the Dees today?

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
