Buddy is on 2 strikes for drugs well it is rumored anyway, no thanks

i think ur the one that could be on the drugs after that. saying no to buddy for pick 2 is deluded. he will be one of the all-time greats of the game. 113 goals last season and is playing with an injury this season yet still doing okay.

Yeah, tez. You just ruined are chances of finalising this hypothetical trade.

Don't be a fool.

Haawthorn is not going to go for that trade.

Some of you live in the land of make-believe, in a gumdrop house on Lollypop Lane...

I would take him quicker than you can say his name.

Do you like any players in the AFL at all? or do you just put a negative spin everything?

A rumour from some extremely reputable sources.

I wouldn't take the risk. 1 more chance? No thanks.

I have to say... If this was put on the table I would say yes.

Melbourne need a marketable player.

Melbourne need a strong marking forward.

No good though if he's gonna be a marketable player like Ben Cousins at WC

I can see it now... "E-mons"

I would be all for it, absolutely. We'd be crazy not to! If they agreed to a straight swap of pick 2 for him, why wouldn't we take it? Because of "rumoured drug issues"? Pfffft! They would be crazy to not expect more than just pick 2, as is suggested here, and we'd be crazy not to take that deal.

Buddy is an out-and-out gun, and despite his poor(er) form this year, has his best footy ahead of him. It's a scary thought really. A KPF who's guaranteed to kick 70+ goals in his "bad" years, who has already won a Coleman and kicked 100 in a season, is a premiership player, and is still only in his early 20's. He is EXACTLY what we need. And from a marketing perspective, Buddy is just about the most well recognised player in the league right now. Could potentialy add thousands of new young members.

There is absolutely no way they would consider trading him at all. But if, in this fantasy internet world of hypotheticals, they were willing to entertain a trade, it would have to be pick 2, plus a considerable sweetener of some sort.

The Hawks seem to have very little depth in their defensive key tall stocks, where as, believe it or not, we actually have a surplus in that department. You'd think Hawks would want at least pick 2 AND one of our young key backs, plus perhaps an upgrade of a later pick, for Buddy.

So for instance:

Pick 2 + young key defender + our 3rd round pick, for Buddy + their 3rd round pick

I would make the initial offer:

Jared Rivers + Pick 2 + Pick 33, for Lance Franklin + Pick 41 .

See if they have a nibble at that, and work from there.

Rivers works well in the trade because he is a proven player, still under 25, has won a Rising Star award, and despite being injury prone, is well respected in football and has a built a reputation as a courageous and talented defender. They know what they're getting with Rivers, who despite popular opinion on these boards, still has his best footy ahead of him.

More realistically, they would likely target Frawley, or even Garland (despite missing a whole year). Stefan Martin could be a smokey, because of his huge upside, but that's more wishful thinking on my behalf than anything. I'd be shattered if we ended up trading Garland or Frawley (as they have superstar written all over them), and very disappointed if it were Rivers or Martin. But if it meant getting a proven, marquee player in his early 20's, that fits our specific need for a key forward, i think i'd be able to cope.

Would you entertain such a trade??

You have to consider that Hawthorn would only look to trade him if either pick 2 was likely to get a player better than Buddy, or there was a likelihood that he would cease to be an effective player... for example, possibly being on the verge of getting a 3rd strike and looking like it would happen.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
