Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A good mate of mine from SA reckons that Jack Trengove has been playing in the seniors at Sturt the past couple of weeks and says that he's been "superimpressive" against the men.

His verdict?

"Think Rich!"

If Scully is as good as he's cracked up to be and a couple of meaningless wins at this stage of the season prevent us from getting these two players they will go down in history as monumental defeats.

Do we need Carlton and Richmond's (Wallace has already 'fessed up) efforts in 2007 to show us how to do things properly and get an advantage in a competition that's hopelessly compromised anyway?

makes me feel even more nervouse about winning mroe games :S

At this stage I would think that none of those players mentioned will be available for our second round pick, with the way Carlisle and Talia played in the Champs and the lack or real quality talls in this years draft I can see them going first round.

If this happens then there will be a pretty good midfielder slip to our pick, I would think. A bit like what happened with blease.

You're probably right, but it'll probably depend on what each club needs and wants. Hawthorn and St Kilda for example might not want another key forward prospect, considering their key position players already.

I would even cop a loss to Fremantle to secure Scully and Trengove with Picks 1 and 2.

However, I think we will beat them and have Picks 1 and 3! I just hope Freo take a WA boy. The same with WC if they end up with the PP.

Freo V WC will be very interesting too watch!

Great forum guys and happy to be on board.

I'd love for us to grab Scully and either Butcher or Trengrove in the draft but I have concerns with Scully.

I'm hearing rumblings that he is a mad Richmond supporter/member and wants to go there even if it means getting traded after 2 years. Now I know a kid will play anywhere he is picked and circumstances change once he fits in at a club. But is wise when you interview the kid and he says I want to play for Richmond and I'll go there after 2years to draft him?.....

Especially now the AFL is looking at free agency.

Welcome aboard!

I've heard interviews with him and he's stated that he doesn't care where he ends up, just that he wants to succeed.

No need to worry, the kid will be a gem where ever he ends up

Norm Smith was a Fanatic Collingwood Supporter as a Kid, But once the Team started To Roll at Melbourne in the Mid Thirties, he knocked back a big offer to go to Collingwood. He had Found His Home.

With any new Recruit we Have to make them want to stay

It's true that he's a Tiger fan but those who know him will tell you he's a young man committed to carving out a career in the game. As soon as he's drafted his allegiance will be to the club that selected him.

I am sure he will quickly become more excited about spearing it in to the likes of Jurrah and Watts, as opposed to Reiwoldt, Morton or Post.

Do i need to remind people also of Chris Judds supposed love of the MFC as a youngster?

I don't see Buddy Franklin demanding a trade to the Demons even though he supported them as kid as well.

Understand your concerns, but think back to when you were 17. Do you still obsess over the same things you did then? Plenty of players are "mad keen" supporters, and move on from that within months of joining their new club. I'd put homesickness (not an issue with Tom) along with perhaps the lure of better money/flags at other clubs as real reasons for concerns with drafting.

If it were a big deal, Franklin and Judd would be playing here.

I've quoted Nick Hornby regularly on here before. Unlike other teenagers who've seen their childhood idol hold up the premiership cup, it's those like me in their mid thirties to mid forties who've never been able to fully shake off their childhood ambitions. Sure other things change - job, marriage, children, responsibilites blah blah blah but thinking about a Melbourne flag still occupies way way too much of my time. Has Melbourne's failure to win a premiership inhibited the ability of many of us to properly grow up?

In regards to your original intent, however, history has shown that it matters little who a young player once followed. Can anyone name more than a couple of examples of a player who has stated that their reason for switching clubs was to play for the team they followed as a boy?

I think leggin is pulling everyones leg. Welcome anyway Tiger. Sid Vicious is right as are others that have heard Scully speak. He will be committed to the club he joins whoever drafts him.

Nah, I wouldn't worry about it. Once 'Sculls', (as Watts refers to him, apparantly good mates), gets a good introduction to the history of the club, that he may one day be referred to with the likes of Barassi and Flower, and gets a feel for the direction the club is heading, he will forget he ever cared for Richmond.

He will be ours. Ours!!!!! Muhahahaha.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
