First time I saw Butcher, and was left highly disappointed.

He really didn't stand out at this level with his marking, and given his size he should. Don't know how he'll transfer his skills against much bigger bodies.

After that performance, I would be disappointed if we went for him over a skillful midfielder (although it is a bit harsh to judge him after seeing him live once!)

Scully coming up!

If we find our posts from last year, one No 2 draft pick was also unimpressive.
Agree. Scully got shoved by Trengove into the ground had to go off with blood nose. Not sure if its broken at the ground. Perhaps those in the luxury of their living rooms can inform. Both reasonably quiet although Scully has immediate impact with his first time grabs and sheer running ability to create and apply defensive pressure.

Find my thoughts on Naitanui from last year.

I was the only one said after the game he would be a superstar and we must take him at number 1.

Anyone who thinks he was unimpressive from last years game has rocks in their head.

I saw Gary Rohan play for the Falcons against Sandy, who my nephew plays for and he's going to be a great pick up even though he's very raw still.

He's very quick and agile for his size and great below his knees.

I still say we take the best mid and best KPF.

Richmond took the 2 best mids (at the time)in Deledio and Tambling and Hawthorn took the 2 best KPF's.

Richmond should have taken the best mid,Deledio and best KPF,Roughead.

Buddy didn't have as good a carnival as Roughead.

Scully looks very impressive. Just keeps running. Just kicked a great goal where he was involved in a chain of handballs which he gave and got 2 or 3 handballs before accelerating and finishing on his left.

Trengove's disposal is tidy. He has delivered a couple of pin point passes to the SA forwards.

Scully.... Ball magnet. How good will his tank be after a couple of pre-seasons at the big level?

Scully will be ready to go from Round 1.

And he will make an impact right off the bat.

What about that possible pic2 i honestly have no idea who id pic, trengove just went out of it after the first qaureter and a bit barely noticed him after that?

Maybe it was just me.

i agree.. after the first quarter he looked amazing and i was thinking hell yeah.. two gun midfielders.. we are set!!

..then he just went missing for the rest of the game! its probably hard to judge him on one game! he has had a few matches with 30 possessions so he will probably still be worth the 2nd pick! he is a good size too!

Scully and best KPF.We're not going to make Richmond's mistake of taking the 2 best mids (at the time) and leaving the 2 best KPF's to win their team a flag.

End of story.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
