Petterd crunched in a marking contest, goes down, bounces back to throw a Tiger defender to the ground and wins a free for incorrect disposal.

Result? 50 metre goal.

Sensational second effort and great for a kid who looked terrific round one and has felt the pressure since. Really gave some back.

For some reason the papers don't mention it.

That was just below where we sit, a great effort, but as I have said in the case of Jetta, Bailey doesn't pick players because it's all he has left, he appreciates Petterd's efforts, he has been taking a battering in the last couple of weeks but backs up all the time..great effort and great goal, and still only young.....this team is going to be HARD

superb piece of play. It's what i want to see more often from the dees, he made the contest, sure he went to ground against a couple of opponents but he immediately got himself back into the fight for the ball and hung on for dear life in a tackle. It was great to see us actually stick one!

I thought Petterd was super yesterday. It is pretty clear that if he can stay injury and incident free, there is only upside in him. What I love is that he is aggressive and gutsy.

Slowly becoming a very exciting medium forward.

I liken him to a Robert Murphy

I heard Bruce on radio after the game, liken Petterd to Paul Medhurst........? You think Brucey?

It did make the 8 games/8 moments section on the AFL website.

Still pretty happy with selecting him as the player to have a breakout year. Although Frawley is certainly giving him a run for his money at the moment.

When I saw the likes of Frawley, Bennell showing dash and attack and penetrate into the forward 50 from the centre, running from the half back line to deliver and hit the likes of Miller and Newton. They were my plays-of-the-day. That's our future right there. Fast transition and movement, breaking lines.

Yeah, my play of the day (nothing against Petterd's great effort) was seeing Frawley take the game on and sprint through the centre corridor with pace. That attack of half back is what we need.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
