Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Brad Green should be Captain now and should have been 08 B&F. Displays superb courage and has the respect of both teammates and opposition. Clearly our best onfield leadership option with Brock McLean as VC ready to move into the top role in two years time.

Davey, Rivers will not be captains. Jones and Morton -> we don't know.

McLean has been inspirational for exactly 1 game, against St Kilda in 2006.

Give it to Green IMO.

Ha, yeah I'm with you! All this talk of McLean and for the life of me, I cannot understand why?? HE CAN'T EVEN RUN FOR GOD'S SAKE.

I'll get murdered if I say what I really think of him (rhymes with 'slogan') but there's about 4 or 5 others that I would have in front of him for sure.

Green, in spite of his dabbling in other team's ponds late last year/early this year, would be such a sensational captain. His courage on the field is like none other. I'm proud to have Junior as captain but I would be even more proud to have Green.

Iv'e voted Davey, he has started the season brilliantly so far and he deserves the job.

Whilst you're entitled to your opinion, 2 outstanding games doesn't seal it for me. Not by a long shot. Whilst I've been a Brock for Captain fan since last August - and which I voted for in the poll - Green is right up there now in my opinion. He has been the face of the club of recent times and has been a model of consistency, even this season.

I'm still pushing for Brock though. ;)

Grimes followers are ridiculously premature. He's had what, 2 games?

Add another vote for Green. Funny the difference a new season makes. He had support in debates here last year but was also heavily sniped.

Dappa.. I'm sorry.. but in the spirit of your recalled speech, IMO, Grimes will also lead the MFC.

Easy choice, needs to be mature, played large amount of games, be one of our best, is couragous, rarely injured etc.

Green is the standout choice, give it to him for a few years till one of the young brigade stands out, cause at the moment no one is.

Well said. Green is streets ahead.

For mine, Brock is struggling with the pace of the game. It's faster now than it was in that semi final against St Kilda a couple of years ago. I don't think he is the standout he appeared to be then. He consistently gets run down from behind and he is not kicking to position as well as once did.

Green is the man most likely to win- or save - a game by taking the lead under presuure. At 27 he should have several years left in him.

and chuck it Morton if we must

just as a side, did anyone see what looked like morton running away from laide highlightedon the footy show last night. thought it looked quite amusing. pretty sure he was running for the next play. not to sure laide saw it that way though.

Moloney's another option. He should be a 5th player in the poll.

most definitely agree. a solid season this year should see him take over next, even before the retirement of macca. he bleeds red and blue; this man and has a heart that will inspire. the kind of guy that could get us a flag in four/five years time.

Yeah the ball actually came back to were he was running to......

And I don't think he was looking over his shoulder cause he was scared of Lade, but to see what was actually happening in the play.

But I must admit it did look pretty funny, especially considering the size difference between the two :P !!!

Anyone could be captain at this stage you just never know. Although for now you would expect the contenders to be Mclean,Green(If young enough),Moloney,Rivers,Miller,Davey,Jones and maybe even Grimes and Morton

Gotta say I agree with DK10 on this one. The big shorts definitely put Morts at the top of the tree for next captain. Think an error was made with J Mac. His shorts are the right size unfortunately; but Morts can carry the baton on from Neita. Lets hope Big Shorts Morts puts in a big one against the tiges!!

Give it too Jack Watts!

Ha! In about 3 or 4 years time after Green has had a crack.

I know it is a big call for a kid who has'nt played a game. But I am sure many have the vision of him being an elite player who takes this club beyond anybody could imagine.

He will even captain Victoria at some stage!

Just watching the replay on the net, and the maturity that Davey is showing is fantasict. If you asked me to suggest Davey as captain material at the start of the year, You would have to be dreaming. He was inperational around the ground, started and created so many opportunities, and if you watch him at 1/2 time, he is encouraging the troops. Boy, if the flash continues like this, he could be a fantasic long term captain!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
