They would have emigrated from someone, to migrate to Australia, making the immigrants.

Is that right? You don't emigrate to somewhere because the e at the beginning implies its being taken from somewhere else

Oh dear. What was your family's original name 45hotgod?

People emigrate from their original country. They then immigrate into their new country.

I realise the spelling and comprehension is tricky but do yourself a service and do better than BT.

He's a Collingwood man. He's a [censored] who seems to be there for comedy relief. Much like Sam Newman. No one really respects him or takes real notice of what he says.

I miss the old days of Clinton Grybas.:(

I remember a game at the 'G, probably in the '80s and I think it was when he played for Collingwood (after he left Richmond).

The game was full of incidents and I think BT gave away quite a few free kicks. Anyway, eventually he totally cracked and charged full speed at Rod Grinter to clobber him. Grinter simply bent over and flipped him a' over t'.

One of the funmniest things I've ever seen and it made BT look like a complete dill !!!!

Perhaps this was when he started to hate us?

Yes & he got a big cut on his nose that you could see for the rest of the game-Hilarious. Hughsey would always thrash him.

Yeah I remember that one. I think Steven Stretch took a hanger on the members wing that day too.

Before his first shot at goal, BT said that Miller was a "very good shot for goal" unless I have been to different games over the last couple of seasons this is clearly not true (although he did kick well for goal yesterday)

Yeah, I noticed this as well. I got the feeling he was taking the [censored], because a few moment later he said something along the lines of "Brad Miller got the goal that time". There were a few moments like that in the call. Either he's got no idea what he's taking about or he's taking the [censored]. Either one is plausible.

Correct! Stretch often took hangers in front of the old stand. Geez he was a good kick. too

I am guessing 1988 first semi.

I can say for certain BT definitely has a thing for young Addam Maric...

He's mentioned him on AFL teams 3 or 4 weeks in a row now, even after his terrible game first, he was talking Maric up... Must be his nephew or something...

MMM just before the match yesterday

Mark Stevens – “we had Jim Stynes in earlier and you seemed to treat him with disdain. You seem to have a personnal vendetta against this football club Brian.

BT – “I have no problem with Jim Stynes who I think is doing a fantastic job, but I do have a problem with the Melbourne football club and in particular their supporters.

That was it, he didn’t expand and no more questions were asked. As usual with BT calling Melbourne, snide remarks were frequent throughout the call.

So does this date back to his playing days or did a Melbourne supporter run over his dog??

Two words "Danny Hughes"

Talking of bad commentary, was forced to listen to AW as the only coverage of the Geelong game in WA two weeks ago. Tony Leonard's intro was something along the lines of "the undefeated Geelong side up against Melbourne who are yet to get a win" & Rex Hunt went on to keep calling a Demon player "O'Keefe". After about a quarter of confusion it turned out he was referring to McLean!

It is pretty slack that this is these guys' job & they can't get it right but sometimes I think they just don't try when it comes to Melbourne.

That's mind-boggling. What a complete w#nker! I hate the stereotype that our supporters are apathetic. I hate it even more when our fans buy into it and think it's true. It's not! To prove this, I've constructed a list of things our fans have done recently for our club which PROVES we're the best supporters in the world! Enjoy:

- Signed up in record numbers in a season that was our worst for 25 years. Look likely to break that record the following season when are likely to play only slightly better.

- Sourced a major sponsor for the club (Kapersky Software - for those that don't know the story, this company was introduced to the club by a Melbourne supporting employee).

- Raised more money than any other clubs' supporters in the history of the game, in the space of a month (debt demolition - 2008).

- Despite being comfortably the worst side last year, we finished nowhere the bottom in the 'attendance ladder'.

- Drowned out the final siren at the MCG for probably the first time ever (vs Brisbane 2008). The roaring of the red and blue hoardes as Green kicked a 'goal' (was actually after the siren) was so loud the siren couldn't even be heard in the commentary box!

There are heaps more that I think are true but can't really prove so I've left them off (e.g. most knowledgeable). Whilst I would never suggest we have a large quantity of supporters, the QUALITY of our support is unrivalled. Never more so yesterday when our fans protected a player's father from marauding thugs. So who cares what the BTs of this world think. It takes guts and heart to support this club and our supporters have this in spades. It's about time we all realised this and then maybe people outside the club will notice it as well.

We also have one of the highest membership take up as a percentage in the AFL , based on people claiming to support each club.Much higher than Essendon and Collingwood who have a much larger supporter(barracker) base than we do ,but as a percentage don't come near our figures when it comes to membership take up.

Makes me think ours is a much more loyal group of supporters than most.(Should this be on mythbusters? )

Thought he was quite positive last night on AFL Teams. Made a point of saying that the demons' improvement was impressive and that Bailey was doing a very good job, as did the other panellists.

Maybe Brian's been reading the Demonland forums?;)

And used Davey to illustrate how the "quarter back" role should be utilised rather than Bowdens chip-chip-chip sideways style. Weird. Maybe Jimmy sent Danny to have a quiet word with him.

He has no respect for us because we are a mediocre club with a mediocre fan base, mediocre players, no stars, no presences in the AFL, teams dont fear us, where the laughing stock of the AFL, where in debt, we have a mediocre culture at the club.. we have No respect. We are a "[censored] Weak" club and we havent won a the flag since 64.

Thats why he hates us. For the last 45 years we have been a NOTHING club. Whose exsistance survives on our early history when teams fear playing us.

I have no grudge on BT hating us because we are infact a joke. Love it or hate it - It's the truth!

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
