I thought I'd start a separate thread to thank Barry, his wife Mavis, Barry Junior and Whistler for the years of service keeping Melbourne supporters up to date with what been happening at Sandy.

I'm not a huge surfer of footy websites but of the ones I've seen Demonland stands apart because of the efforts of people like Barry who take the time to write reviews and provide information to the forum's members. And it's not only the information that is fantastic, it is the quality and reliability of the delivery which really is at a professional standard.

Barry it was in no small part your influence that got me down to Sandy on a regular basis which ultimately led to many good friendships with both Sandy and Melbourne supporters. Many thanks for the hours of work, the good humour and the mountain of information that you have provided, it's been a mighty effort and one you should be very proud of.

All the best with your move north. I'm wondering if you'll end up following Southport or maybe the new GC17 team or if you'll leave footy behind and start showing Mavis the attention she so richly deserves. Somehow I think footy is in your blood and we'll be hearing from you on a pretty regular basis.

We all look forward to Kevin Charles reports. If he's anything like his father we'll hardly know you've gone!!!

Cheers Barry, thanks and all the best in your future endeavours.

Fantastic job mate, thank you very much for all the effort involved. I loved reading your reports!

Probably a good thing that Barry and Mavis are moving up north, as I noticed when Mavis used to work at the canteen she used to send free sausage rolls to Chad Liddell at half time and I always thought there is more here than meets the eye.

Cheers Barry. From my point of view there would have been little interest in Sandy if not for Melbourne players being there but you have made me a fan and as a success straved footy follower I was glad to go out and enjoy watching a successful Sandy outfit over the last few years.

Thanks Barry, have one for me.

It's been great keeping up with your reports.

Fan, maybe you could go O/S, it's cheap @ IRAQ & AFGANISTAN.

I'd like to add my thanks and best wishes to Barry and family for a happy future up there on the Gold Coast.

You've been a wonderful contributor to this site for many years and I look forward to hearing from you about your adventures as you start your new life in the sun. I hope to get up there in October to see how you're settling in.

PS: I also hope Whistler finds happiness up there on the coast after being spurned by Finks' dog Chewy behind the wall that day at TBO. It must have been a painful experience for him (or is it her?)!

Thanks Barry for all your reports over the years. Much appreciated your detailed reports. You helped to revive a past passion of following Sandy in the 1980's.

Best wishes to you and your family with the move north.

Great stuff Barry and well written Fan

Thanks everyone - all much appreciated.

It's not farewell or good bye though. I will try to post from time to time and hope that 2009 is a better year for the Dees.

One request I have is where do you get some good Chinese tucker on the Gold Coast?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
