i actually read it like they both wanted to go on and thanked everyone for their time at MFC.

I think both are going to try get a gig next year somewhere, if white gets a spot good for him and he will be lucky to do so but unfortunately i dont think Yze will be able to get anywhere,

""Melbourne Club Champion's Adem Yze and Jeff White announced today that they will both play their final games for MELBOURNEfc this Sunday""

You could take that a different way though !! not last games.. last games for Melbourne !!

The article is written as if they are both retiring. Obviously, we know that Whitey wants to go round again. Do we know whether Yze intends to retire, or whether he wishes to continue?

I think Yze wishes to continue, he has said previously that he thinks he has some football left in him. I think he is hoping for a trade or put himself in the PSD as a top up for a club. I would of thought a trade would be unlikely. PSD IMO.

I wish Ooze and Whitey all the best for their future, they have been both wonderful servants for the club. :)

I understand White wanting to go round again, but I think it would be sad to see Yze do anything other than retire. Players are sometimes the worst judges of their own capacity. I would not like to see Yze running around for a side next year (altho I reckon the Kangas would take him).

Adem Yze has been a favourite of mine for so long. Always enjoyed watching his freaky skills.

Jeff White has been phenominal. He added a whole new dimension to Ruckman. Getting lots of possesions and using the ball well. An elite player for many years.

Thanks to both, and all the best for the future!

Gonna miss these guys, I hope despite everyones bagging we can all appreciate how many time Yze won us the game off his own boot and electrified us with his supreme skill.

I also hope we always remember that Jeff White carried our team for the best part of 10 years. Don't think he didn't, if we didn't have our star ruckman we would never had made as many finals as we did.

Well said Demons 32. I concur with your sentiments. Both players have been wonderful servants of the club, and don't deserve the cruel derision by some on this forum.

Yes..Jeff been a solid servant of the club..arguably of limited effect in recent years..Thats reality.

No one denies Adems occasional displays of brilliance... but win games off his own boot ?.. must be the teary outlook of rememberance clouding your view there !! <_<

Julian DaStoop on fox sports news said Yze retired and White to go on to another club.

Hopefully everyone rocks up to farewell them this week!

I'm adding my thanks to Jeff & Adem. Love all the good memories. Jeff was used as the inspiration for our Auskick kids to jump a bit higher at ruck contests. That goal at the 'G almost on the final siren Jeff, from the boundary to sink the Bulldogs finals hopes is one very magic memory. The worst one was the kick to the face by King, right in front of me. I still remember the cracking sound and feeling sick. Great courage to come back from that, btw.

Best memories of Adem were all those goals you regularly kicked against the Pies on Queens Birthdays. Couldn't have picked a better occasion to show your skills!

Got two personal memories of these guys. Remember Adem in Manuka main street waiting for the bus to the airport, a bit annoyed at missing the team bus as a result of being held back for drug testing. You signed autographs for my kids. And we won (against Kangaroos)!

And an apology to Jeff. One frustrating day at the 'G, sitting in the old Members stand, things going horrible and I felt Jeff needed a bit of motivational coaching. I shouted out some encouragement, like "show some guts Jeff, get stuck into it" or maybe slightly stronger words to that effect, and just as I shouted everything went very quiet and I'm sure Jeff heard every word because he looked straight across. Next ruck contest, Jeff really took to heart my coaching and throws himself into the contest, only to fall in a heap because he's done his ankle. I still blame myself for that.

I'll miss you both, thanks heaps.

^ Yes.

It's not surprising - Holland probably won't be getting a send-off game, isn't a Club Champion, and didn't hold a press conference.

The article said there is a function after the game at Olympic Park. Does anyone know what the go is with that?

This is on the MFC website, and in the weekly Members email. There's a function, and it's at Olympic Park :P I imagine it'll be at the same place the Queens Bday function was at. Stynes, Bailey, and the players will be in attendance. Apparently there are activities for kids.

All jokes aside I reckon he'd have a walk up gig at the Zebbies for a few years if he wanted it ( Ooze )

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
