Alwyn Davey is FRIKIN AWESOME.

would love to get him.

Not much help on the sidelines.

It still has me stuffed why people think Alwyn is better than Aaron?!?!?! Alwyn has done nowhere near enough to be rated as highly as some people rate him!

Aaron doesn't get the respect he deserves from some people... The kid has suffered some terrible luck with injuries over the last few years, but on what we have seen, I rate Aaron well above his brother ATM

Indeed.

I would take both of them in the same side any day of the week (preferably Saturday) ;) But I think Aaron doesn't get the respect he deserves from some people... I'll upset the nuffies on here, but I rate Alwyn better. He's yet to play 20 games, but has already shown more in the midfield and is genuinely tougher. I'm yet to see Aaron stand up in a big game. Perhaps friday night is his chance.

That said, I don't rate either terribly highly just yet, but Alwyn has decent upside.

I heard that around seven players will be gone.

My source? CC, via a daily paper.

Concur with that.

Yze is contracted for 2009 and will see out his contract even if he plays all year at Casey.

Yze signed a 3 yr contract at the end of 2005. This is the last year of the contract.

Sylvia will not be traded - he still has a lot of upside. Not hard to guess who will be out at the end of the season.

Yze, Holland Neita, Carroll, White, Weetra, Bode and Jamar if you believe the rumors.

What would Jamar be worth given Jolly got pick 15? Based on Saturdays game i would say 18 - 25 in this draft picks are gold draft. Jamar is just startiung to reach his potential and we should play hard ball. May be a three way deal D's - cARL - eSS.

I'd love to have Alwyn at the club, and i'd love to give Jamar to Carltank.

But i won't hold my breath just yet- unlike some, i find it really difficult to get into any of this stuff without at least some real substance (of which there never is!). I'll wait at least a few more weeks, and if the Alwyn rumour keeps circulating come seasons end, then i'll get right behind it!

Anything between pick 18-25 would be absolutely awesome for Jamar, but realistically i can't see him getting us any better than pick 30, unless he continues his current purple patch til seasons end. Even then, a pick in the 30's or better, should we acquire Warnock via trade or PSD, would be a fantastic result for the club IMO.

Interesting to know that Alwyn hasnt signed a new contract this late in the year, especially after his season ended so early in the year, Usually clubs will jump in and sure up a players future when there is a season ending injury, for the players piece of mind if anything. So it makes the most sense that he has delayed contract talks for some reason.

Maybe but we 'gotta talk em up'. The old self fulfilling prophecy rule here. Some clubs are great at overselling duds and Jamar at minimum holds his own. Jamar IMO still has upside as he is showing at the moment. He would be good in a side with a gun midfield as it is not as crucial he gets the tap. More important to use muscle and get his hands dirty when the ball hits the turf - Jamar is good at that.

Against Ess he won a lot of taps. In fact we lost momentum when he went off the ball. I thought he was good.

I watched the Game Saturday with a well known Player Manager who told me that according to those in the industry and by the enquiries on what players are available 8 players will be gone by the cut off in October we already know tof 3 players that will retire Neitz Holland Yze and likely White.

Carlton are very keen on Jamar (the Riley connection ) they are desperate for a ruckman as Kruezer is not ready Warnock is almost certain to play with us next season along with Alwyn Davey who wants out at Essendon ,apparently a personality clash with Knights and there will be 2 delistings and 2 Player swaps Collingwood are also very keen to trade.

Last year at the same game info given to me by this person that turned out correct .

He also told me that Greg Hutchison will be ipart of the coaching staff with the Gold Coast they were very impressed with his interview.

Any thoughts on which players would be likely to go.

What about Jamar and Bruce to Carlton for their first pick 7?ish

Not a chance in hell. Carlton would LOL at us if we dished that up. A rising 30-year-old and an unproven ruckman for a top 10 pick just prior to the draft concessions for GC17 - won't happen.

I'm very keen on sticking with the Jamar/PJ combo. Whilst they have their flaws, I think they've performed very well over the past 6 weeks and I'm not convinced that R. Warnock is the answer.

Alwyn would be a nice inclusion, but he is injury-prone and I wouldn't want to give up too much for him.

Wouldn't trade Jamar for less than Carltank's 2nd round pick, 25 or so, Meesen went in the 30's. Wouldn't give up much for Alwyn either. We need to be trading for high draft picks, not trading them away.

Could give pick 17+Jamar for the Blues' pick 6 or so but that's probably not enough

That's alot closer than some of the deals been touted IMO by posters. If that landed on the table, MFC should take pick 6. That would leave 1,6,18,..,..,... . But because of GC17 Carlton might not budge and keep 6 or 7 or whatever it is.

Collingwood is keen to trade - according to one of the poster's. J.Fraser struggling.

The Pies might now be trying to offload Shaw and/or Didak given they've just released a new press release on 'On The Couch' stating that

Didak was in the car with Shaw, and both of them lied about his presence to the club and police.. Todays sanctions have been thrown out, and new ones applied tomorrow,

and yet another no doubt fiery press conference from the Lexus Centre which should make for compulsive listening!

Would we want Josh Fraser at Melbourne? Personally i wouldn't want him.

He's too old (27?) for our current youth policy and would command a higher pick than we'd be willing to pay being a former #1 draft pick (?). Awfully overrated IMO, he was very very lucky to play the All-Star's match this year. He's not hard enough at the contest, injury-prone, is pretty lean for a big man and given his body-type and age, will always be, and isnt good enough in a KP to play there full-time. Almost a clone of Jeff White, but without the ruck skills and leap White once had.

Hmmm..... very interesting times ahead.

Despite all the recent happenings re: Shaw, and Didak's shady history off-field, both are guns, and i'd love to have either/both of them at Melbourne. Especially if we can get em for a bargain-basement price given their indiscretions.

i would be devestated if we lost jamar

lol, stepping in dog krap is devastating, losing Jamar is not

especially for 8-11 spots upgrade in what is reportedly an excellent early draft

Watts + about the 3rd or 4th best midfielder thanks

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
