If you have to rely on making things up with no basis, then i suppose you could claim anything

What about Paul Johnson?

I thought he played very well and has been our best big man all year!

Mark Jamar, I feel, is falling into the same basket as the Ben Hollands and the Simon Godfreys of the world.

He has all the effort but just lacks the skills to cut it as a good footballer who will really positively impact the future of our club.

Everytime I watch him play, I just think to myself that he seems like the kind of player who would miss a shot at goal from 10m out in front in a Grand Final and we'd end up losing by a point.

IMO He's not part of our future.. not a successful one anyway.

Jamar consistently does (make poor decisions) and it is a flaw. It would be a frustrating forum if everytime we have something to say about one player, we then have to trail through the other 43 players on our list comparing them all

I've been saying this for years. Jamar can improve all he wants, but ruckwork aside, i dont think he'll ever be AFL-quality.

He has to be the most flawed footballer at our club IMO, if not in the whole league.

6 - James McDonald

5 - Simon Buckley

4 - Cale Morton

3 - Matty Bate

2 - Addam Maric

1 - Mark Jamar (for all his flaws, i still gave him a vote. Beating Hille is no easy feat)

For anyone complaining about Jamar, i think we really have to look at the facts which are fairly simple.

essendon have led the league in clearances over the past month and yet with a midfield without potentially our 3 best midfielders in brock, jones and moloney we still, for some fairly lengthy patches, really dominated there. Now i admit this is not solely to the credit of Jamar and a consideable amount of respect has to be given to dunn for this, but our mids weren't on fire and many clearances were only gained due to jamar's aggresive tackling and and smart tap work.

For those of you ruing missed opportunities in the forward line the simple fact that Jamar gave us those opportunities was a cause for optimism - we can't expect him to kick 3 a game and if he gets a couple or even one it's a bonus. the fact that he gave us a marking presence there providing opportunities (realised or unrealised) that otherwise wouldn't have presened themselves was enough for me

6. J.McDonald - Very hard worker.

5. M.Bate - Stepped it up.

4. CJ - Consistent all day.

3. Buckley - Great first 3.

2. Sylvia - Some positive signs.

1. Maric - Some good touches. Couple of goals. Progressing well.

How on earth could you not give Morton votes? Did you actually attend the game?

Thats ridiculous............no hang on, ludicrous is more appropriate!

Was at my one and only game for the year. Pity we lost.

My votes:

6. Bate

5. Morton

4. Sylvia (a couple of inexcusable mistakes stopped him from being 6 in my eyes)

3. Valenti

2. Buckley

1. (Raffle) Garland.

I think you are right on the money Deestroy08.

In case anyone cares:

6 - McDonald

5 - Bate

4 - Morton

3 - Sylvia

2 - Jamar

1 - Bruce (for negating Stanton)

A lot of peopel have Garland in their votes. I didn't really think he was one of our best on the weekend.

Yes Bruce deserved 1 vote. These 6 would have been mine - I may of swapped Bate and Morton around, but your on the money IMO.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
