It doesn't really matter that much...as long as we win less than 5 games, that means we get pick 2, 18 and 21, as opposed to 1, 17 and 20.

In this years draft there seem to be 3 genuine contenders for the number 1 draft pick (as was in 2001).

1 is a KPP (Watts), 1 a ruckman (Naita) and 1 a midfielder (Rich)/ So either way, pick 2 we will get 1 of these 3 which we will all be happy with.

As for the consequences in the PSD of coming second, i highly doubt WCE will pick up Warnock in the PSD considering they have Cox and Seaby.

Seaby is a quality young ruckman who is playing a lot of footy in the WAFL because WetToast dont have room for him. they dont need ruckman, they will most likely look for a player like Prismall... which leave Warnock open to us anyways

Warnock wants to return to Melbourne so WC aren't going to pick him. I'd say we'll trade him for a 3rd round pick and then grab Primsall in the PSD

'sylvinator', if we win as many as 4 wins & a draw, then we will miss the priority pick....(16.5 pts = not more than 4 wins)

that's true...

neways... about the idea of getting Prismall PSD and offering 2nd rounder for Warnock (pick 21)... i like the sound of that.

However if we don't come 16th then all plans go out then window bc westcoast will have first crack at any uncontracted player.

They will then most likely pick up Prismall if he nominates...

Damn you West Coast for getting a goal on the Siren and getting .34% for your rubbish franchise to be .12% ahead of us.

The Dees need to win or loose by a slim Margin to bring justice by the rounds end. I think we need to make sure we don't finish with the Spoon just for the mental damage of being part of a team that finishes last when the list is so young. I think we need to play for Watts in the Draft and forget about Warnock as well, unless West Coast are willing to give him to us for a couple of packets of Strapping Tape and a 6 Month Subscription to The Age.

Don't underestimate what MacGyver could do with a wooden spoon, a newspaper and some tape. The guy could probably win a Premiership with it. Particularly with a couple of good draft picks.

Haha, good call. If we had MacGyver in the Ruck and our current list, I think we could go places in a short space of time.

Ooooh. Nearly.

.12? So if we lost by 5 goals or so our percentage would improve JUST enough to pip them.

First half of the season we were easily the worst side in the comp. Now we're almost out of the bottom 4 on current form.

Wouldn't it be nice to rebuild and have a crack at a flag WITHOUT winning a wooden spoon?

Very topical bub...

Would you believe by 10pm Sunday night chief? B)

PS: The Eagles in their current format have to be the best club for any young player to make his AFL debut against. Just ask Brad Dalziell who got 32 touches for the Lions last night at the Gabba.

On that basis, I would suggest to the MFC selectors that they keep Saturday 16 August free for the debuts of Jack Grimes, Addam Maric, Tom McNamara, Kyle Cheney, Jake Spencer and Trent Zomer as well as for the triumphant return of Isaac Weetra and the farewell game for Benny Holland if he recovers in time from that shoulder injury.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

Some veteran Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you the following observations from another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
