Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So many people are so easily sated. This kid puts in..what.. a hndful of appearancs as a true AFL level player and people fall allover themselves with praise and guffawing. Keep things in perspective. He puts in decent returns on about 5-10 % of his outings.. Hardly anything to get excited about. He is petulant abd thinks( and often plays ) like a spoilt kid.

Instead of knuckling down and putting in the extra efforts he gets narky out there.Starts doing silly things. No matter how long you persist ..he'll still always be promising to deliver, showing you glimpses etc.. He CAN lay..but its as if its all too hard. He doesnt havehte right ethic..and personally id rather se whatever coin can be got for him reinvested in another.

He hasn't even put in a handful of good performances. He has played a maximum of 2 full good games of AFL and other than that, shown occasional glimpses. Exactly right - he CAN do most things, he just won't. Shocking attitude, petulant child. He plays like he just expects to dominate, and is symptomatic of what is wrong with the culture of the MFC. Trade him to a club that thinks they can get more for him, like St Kilda (he will play well on the other flank to Fiora).

Yes, trade him now while we can! [ 25 ] [25.77%]

No, He's getting there! [ 45 ] [46.39%]

Only trade him if were approached. [ 27 ] [27.84%]

so atm...we have near 54 % in favour of trading him. I wonder how much of that other 46% would be so stalwart if they were shown a viable trade ?

I think everyone would trade Sylvia if a good trade option came up. It would be the same with most of the players on our list.

Hence why I think the 3rd option on this poll is stupid.

Given the current list of available players and "where we are at as a club", Sylvia makes the 22.

What I don't understand is the constant, "I'd hate to see him dominate elsewhere". I like seeing exDemons play well at other clubs. For whatever reasons, players that have not been able to shine at the MFC get an opportunity to prove themselves at other clubs. If they thrive in a different environment then good luck to them. But I would never hold onto a player for fear of what he might or might not do at a different club. Its gutless.

(Fact is that he is not going to anyway)

he's got 7 weeks to impress the coaches of his future with MFC...otherwise I think time to trade

Sylvia to Collingwood so he can play with his mate Didak.. Throw in Yze and we'll take Thomas..:blink::rolleyes:

I do think Sylvia is improving and would like to see what he could do next year but if a realistic, viable trade option came up we'd be silly not to look at it.

Thats the biggest insult O'Keefe could earn..

Ryan is one of the hardest working players in the league!

Colin one of the laziest atm!

Im sure you meant just the graet hands and strength, I just wanted to point of the main HUGE differance between the 2!

Id love Col to be half as good, but cant see it yet!!!

My first reaction to Colin Sylvia is to trade him. Col reminds me of Medhurst a little bit, just not as good. I'd be happy to trade him if the offer was right. I think he needs a good end of year to be not thought of being traded, if that makes sense.

If Sylvia turns out to be half as good as Robbo, I'd be happy.

Robbo has kicked a ton of goals, won two B&Fs, represented Australia and has led our goal kicking more than once. There is little chance Sylvia will ever achieve any of that.

That's true, but while he's on our list, fit and playing games, then there's still a chance it will.

I've decided he'll make it. One of our better players today, and when he had that set shot to put us in front, I said to myself "if he kicks it, he'll be a good player. If he doesn't then he won't." I just had that feeling about him.

He will need to make a decent fist of the last 4 games to be retained.

Guest unstable punt
The only way Sylvia will be not be at Melb next year, is if the club can orchestrate a good trade.

I predict we'll keep him.

he will stay

Wouldn't mind him getting another year, but by gee he'll have to start thinking. So many dumb decisions today

When he's streaming down the field with the footy he hates to take the first option. He is forever looking to hold onto the ball and be selfish. He has all the natural ability in the world but lacks footy smarts. I hope he averages four goals a game for the rest of the year as a second round pick would be great.

i want to see the back end of him

along with bell

Bell is a liabilty of the highest order. He's gonebackwards in a massive way.

When we had a big sniff in the last he showed great courage to win a free kick in the back half only to obsoletely butcher the ball with a disgraceful kick across the other side of the ground that picked out two Bombers which resulted in a goal. It summed up the footballer Daniel Bell is.

Gutsy and Clumsy.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
