I woke up at early hours of this morning from the strangest dream.....

After a strong finish to 2008 (albeit only 4 wins) and a strong pre-season (no visions of draft picks :().... Dean Bailey called a press conference!

In the press conference (which was strangely hosted by Andrew O'Keefe from Deal or No Deal) our coach was sitting with Brad Miller.....

Dean proceeded to tell the football world that Brad would be the new captain of the Melbourne Football Club....

I know this was only a dream, but apart from Mr O'Keefe, this seemed so real..... :o

Not beyond reality. Miller has the passion and ability to lead. I think you are right.

He didnt have a case with 200g in it by any chance ;)

He's shown a lot of heart to come back like he has. If Daniher was still the coach, he may have been traded or even delisted.

But despite all the criticism, he's been able to take his game to a new level.

Still I'd want to see him play out the season consistently, before I considered him as captain.

At the start of the season I stated that this move would be ridiculous, as proved by his performances up until then. Now though (take note Jaded, who has been fighting the fight) if he continues with the form, desperation and leadership that he's shown over the last half dozen games then it wouldn't be all that bad.

I'm extremely happy to have Brad Miller proven that I was wrong, I'll just go and eat some pie.

PS Now he just has to work on his consistency

I said earlier in the year that the idea had merit, and still believe that to be the case. He'll have some tough competition in McLean and Green though.

I'd be happy to have any of the three as captain. I'm just thankful that we've finally got some blokes capable of showing leadership outside Neitz.

*Falls off chair* :o:o

I could think of far worse things than Brad Miller being appointed captain of the MFC.

ok..spanner in the thinking.. or topic for debate.

Loved Neeta.. but always felt we were compromised on match day having a Capt who was really only at teh sharp end.. Your sphere of influence when things arent happening is limited.. Ive nothing actually against Miller in this regard..its soley the FF as capt. Id prefer not to

why is everyone so ingnorant and stubborn to suggest cameron bruce as captain he would be the fav easily

I actually believe Brad Green would be the favourite at this stage..... Has had a ripper season and is celebrating our wins with pure joy (which is great due to the fact some ppl are hoping we don't win too many)

But Brad Miller is an option! His leadership has green beat.... I mean been great..... (oops :) ) and his overall physicality are saying to me that it is not out of the question..... Plus he has the tick from DB already (DB loves him)

Just thought I would throw it out there..... That and the fact that it was one of the wierdest dreams of my life!

Miller has the leadership skills, but not the ability.

i'm sorry but your captain has to be one of your best players. they have to be damn good footballers to lead by example on field.

Miller is an average player.

I had a dream once........lets just say Pam Anderson and I have not yet met. When I boast about having a visit from Pam, then start to worry about Millzy becoming the skipper!

They will give it to Greeny.

Green will be the next captain

Watching the group, I think Miller is the natural leader that everyone follows.

From all reports, he had the playing group absolutely PRIMED before the Brisbane, game, like they were prepared to follow him anywhere.

I agree he needs consistency, but he could be a good fit until Grimes is ready =p

+ I don't think he will be FF, more a leading flanker / CHF perhaps?

Good summary there MJP. I only said Green cause i could not separate Miller and Green on latest performances. Miller is a good option to be next captain

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
