This meeting with the council on Aug 5 seems to be taking forever to come around. And whilst we are sifting through candidates for the CEO position...

It's like the draft. I'm excited. I hope we get the deal through, it'd be a massive step backward if we missed out

2 days till Tuesday!

Looking forward to Wednesday's news

Headlines I'm hoping for "DEMONS DEMOLISH DEBT AS CASEY SAYS YES"

And one for the preseason "BRUMBY ANNOUNCES CASEY FIELDS STATION TO BE BUILT IN 2009"

And then one for Xmas "MCC TO BUILD STADIUM AT CASEY"

And one more for good measure "DEEEEELIGHTFUL" Dated 2 Oct 2011.

That hopefully would be followed by "Demons no longer see red, will post $1million Profit!" ;)

Council agenda for tomorrow night's meeting now on the City of Casey website:

http://www.casey.vic.gov.au/meetings/artic...?Item=11233#aug

First item on the agenda, so the bar might have to be afterwards (hopefully to celebrate).

The club have asked the Council to change the deal, the MFC will no longer receive a parcel of land worth 500k, the building works will be expanded. See the below from the Council agenda.

The Proposal

As indicated above, the situation at any point in time was fluid. This fluidity was primarily

caused by changing circumstances at MFC. Effectively there have been 3 different MFC

CEOs during the period, and a change of President and Board. The fluidity was caused

partly because of differing views of the individuals involved, but also because of the different

aspirations of the two Boards.

Councillors were briefed on the project two weeks ago. A copy of the presentation is

attached to this report. Since that time there has been a substantial change:

Casey's Communities

Council Meeting Page 3

Executive Services 5 August 2008

Organisational Strategy Item 1

Melbourne Football Club – Cont.

the building project has been enlarged at the request of MFC

MFC has proposed that the transfer of a Council asset worth $500,000, which had

previously formed part of the negotiations, be replaced by an immediate cash injection

of the same amount to fund the larger building

the MFC period of occupation has extended from a licence term of 10 years to 10 x 10

x 10 (ie 30 years)

the Community Program is to be delivered over the extended period (ie 30 years).

In addition, MFC has suggested that alternative security than a bank guarantee be accepted.

This would be acceptable provided the guarantee is from a sufficiently robust corporate

entity.

The proposal now is that a $2.1 million extension of the pavilion at the VFL Oval be

constructed, and that this be occupied by MFC’s Football Department until it relocates into

the MRS. This will provide substantially better accommodation and facilities for MFC than it

has experienced in recent years.

A key part of MFC’s future will be the establishment of a relationship with the Casey

community, the delivery of a comprehensive community partnership program and an

AFL/VFL alignment with the Casey Scorpions (already based at Casey Fields). MFC will also

establish Casey Fields as its pre-season training base with an 8 week summer training

period each year.

The pavilion extension is proposed to be funded as follows:

$1,250,000 Council

$ 500,000 MFC

$ 350,000 SRV VFL Program

$2,100,000

Well done, Casey Scorp. Very detailed agenda. There is a slice of the future plan for the club right there.

Two telling statements from the agenda, which points to a positive outcome in the meeting tomorrow night:-

1. Council has formally resolved on 5 occassions in relation to the matter, and each time in favour of the project.

2. Community program is to be delivered over an extended period of 30 years (up from 10 years).

Along with the detailed plans for the extended home base before the MRS is completed March/April 2010.

May as well unpack the champagne now and put it on ice........ B)

That is very interesting.

It seems the club is making an attempt to woo the other councilors.

I wonder how much it will hurt the club in the long run not to get that $500k parcel of land.

Is the AFL going to assist? I'm sure the Dogs/Roos/Tigers have had some AFL funds for there training base.

Hope so, but I doubt it. You reckon they could throw accross a lazy $500K for the council land asset out of their $780million TV RIghts war chest. And that's just from the TV rights money.

The Dogs got lucky through C.Rose's hard work at Federal Level. (Which nearly fell over 2 weeks ago- State Gov't got them out of the mess).

Makes sense. I only mention it because this conflicts with what's been mentioned recently on here (or Demonology).

and an AFL/VFL alignment with the Casey Scorpions (already based at Casey Fields).

Again, makes sense. There have been doubts raised over the alignment in recent times, though.

It does clear a few things up, even some media speculation and mis-thruths.

What is actually quite interesting about the whole thing..is this is esentially the first time in the club's long and ( mostly ) illustrious history that it will have any ties..or relevance to any locality ..quite astounding really

I hope there will be a few Melbourne supporters in the audience? A mate of mine lives in Cranbourne North so he may be going along to this council meeting tonight.

I genuinely hope that the Councillors will accept the MFC's application so things can get started. I'm not really sure what time I finish work but I'll try and make it there to the meeting.

Hopefully there will be a few Melbourne supporters there and they can give a full report of what happens later this evening?

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
