Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Casey played Coburg last weekend, and I can assure you that Coburg was not decked out in yellow and black.

The name Melbourne Football Club clearly has to remain, but the Melbourne Scorpions has good synergies. It would also overcome some of the concerns I've read on here about demons being a concern to kids or other cultures, if MFC was minded to defer to those concerns.

The original club was the Springvale Scorpions whose colors were navy blue with a red collar (rather than a Melbourne V). Therefore, there should be no difficulty having the clubs marry up their colours.

CASEY FIELDS EARMARKED FOR 'WORLD CLASS' SPORT STADIUM

This is very much a side to things many may not be aware. Much of what is to happen at Casey Fileds is/was going to happen anyways. All part of the Master Plan. see: Casey Fields Master Plan

Casey were in the market for a Development partner. Whether this was to add prestige or clout to the project is arguably subjective. With St Kilda being the affiliated they were the natural first port of call. Linton Ave had other agendas and anyone whos ever hung around Linton Ave...they have some strange thinkings at times...makes us look like geniuses!!

With the "Flinders St ..all change" goings on re Melb/St's Sandy and Casey it fell to the incumbents of the project to sound us out. Common sense would suggest that's a natural path. Indeed events to date seem to reflect this. Melbournes role possibly from a Casey standpoint is to help Headline the development. To put it on the map. Observers of all things Casey ...they like maps..and them on it !! Casey is not shy to think laterally... and personally I think as things have transpired we may indeed offer Casey far more than teh Sainters ever could. Our Heritage ( theres that bloody thing again ..lol ) is suggestive ( if nothingelse ) of longevity and substance. These are qualites the project might like to take on board. Our financial position?? well..... lets gloss over here for the moment.. Beleive it or not we actually bring some serious street creed class to teh place . Not to diminish any legitimacy that CF has anyway. Bit like the Ford Franchise getting Jaguar as well!!..or some might say Land Rover..hehehe

There is much to like about Casey Fields...especially as it WILL be. To be associated with TWO prime sporting venues ( the good ol' G and the upcoming diamond in the rough) may portend well for the Dees.

Another aspect to al this...The nautre of the foot traffic that will use the new facilites is just what the doctor ordered regarding a target demographic for potential members. If the Melb boys get it right 'our' presence wil be duly reflected.. The more and more people see those emblellishments the more its indoctrinated into the pysche. A bit like product placement.... in fact..exactly like product placement :)

A clever club would make sure that whomever is responsible for marketing etc would ensure that every retailer of sporting paraphanalia would have good access to Melbourne product in the environs of Casey and nearby :)

I can understand there being a few concerns by councillors. It's fair enough of them being critical and questioning what is going on I just hope they aren't being vindictive against the Melbourne Football Club for more sinister reasons? <_<

Nevertheless, they have to look at the BIG PICTURE!!!

Allowing the Melbourne Football Club to have a Summer training base at Casey Fields and having an alignment with the Casey Scorpions VFL side will provide much more for people in the area in numerous ways.

It will create positive exposure for the City of Casey and people will possibly think of Cranbourne in a more positive light. As the City of Casey is a growing area I'm sure it would interest a lot of football supporting familes (mainly Demons supporters) to want to live in the area and have a chance of seeing their favourite AFL players train nearby.

There is the chance of building a Melbourne Demons/Casey Scorpions Social Club in close proximity that would also provide revenue perhaps?

Would the anti-MFC councillors prefer something more controversial built nearby at Casey Fields? Such as a toxic waste dump or something?

The positives far outweigh the negatives.

But I'm obviously bias. ;)

Just when you thought things were getting better along comes a Demon supporter to throw a Volvo spanner in the works!

With supporters like this guy no wonder we're struggling.

"a community campaign against the land deal". Sounds like a great start to our community involvement.

Can't they see the long term benefits of our involvement.

Surely this involvement will generate financial benefits for the local community.

Hopefully with some good negotiation skills we'll get this deal done without anymore fuss.

Sounding better, but still not finalised:

http://www.cranbourneleader.com.au/article...6_csv_news.html

MELBOURNE Football Club's move to Casey Fields could be confirmed by the end of this month.

Casey Council chief executive Mike Tyler said a "productive meeting" last week had greatly advanced the chances of a deal being reached.

Mr Tyler previously was less confident.

He raised concerns last month that the drawn-out negotiations could hinder the chances of getting the Demons, as any development at Casey Fields would have to be completed in time for pre-season kick-off in November.

Mr Tyler told the Leader talks between Casey, Melbourne, the Casey Scorpions and the AFL on Thursday "proceeded quite smoothly". "I think we're getting reasonably close to getting the thing sorted out," he said.

"Now we've got 'i's to dot and 't's to cross (with the) legal contracts and all that sort of stuff, which will take some time, but I would think towards the end of July we would have it signed off."

Details of the AFL club's move to Casey has been subject to conjecture but, based on documents seen by the Leader, the project will cost $1.6 million, with council contributing $750,000.

Melbourne will chip in $500,000, while the project was allocated $350,000 in the State Budget under the VFL Complex Upgrade Project.

Mr Tyler said the works at Casey Fields Oval No. 1 would include the upgrade of training facilities, made possible by the extension of the pavilion to the northern goals.

Melbourne's football department would also be housed at Casey Fields until the club relocated to the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium in 2010.

The wooing of the AFL club has come under fire from some councillors including Kevin Bradford and Rob Wilson.

So would Oval No. 1 be our training ground and where our facilities would be built?

Surely we should be using the VFL oval?

The only pavillion I recall seeing was at the oval where we played the NAB Cup match.

The training facilities will be part of the extended pavillion . Training may or may not take part on that oval. A number of other ovals are being upgraded. Its actually quite a massive complex with much to offer ;)

I think thats the key to the move.

There is alot of developed land to expand on. In years to come I see the place as huge base for us. Not just an oval and changing rooms, but all the modern gizmo's.

There is a heap of land behind the northern goals (outside the fence) which is undeveloped. There is a planning permit already issued for a full blown training and admin facility just waiting to be utilised.

Sometimes it may not be a virtue either.

March to July = 4 months gone.

How much longer will it take to get an agreement?

How long will it take to build a facility?

How long will MFC get in that new facility before bubbledome is completed?

At some stage, a line will be drawn and someone will say there's no point continuing with this project because there simply isn't enough time available to make it's occupation worthwhile.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
