Another idea. Players attend schools in the casey area for PE. There has been a real issue in primary schools about the lack of male teachers to promote sports like footy and cricket. The players could adopt a school each!

Carrying on from that, maybe we can attract more kids to AusKick if we send a different player each week to coach a team of young Demon fans?

was thinking exactly the same thing. People misunderstand the power of " all the little things" The bond created at this age will carry them forever into Demon-ness ( ask Max..its the opposite to Nice-ness ) lol

This one always seems to be on the agenda but it needs to be promoted if we actually still do this. I rember as a kid the great thrill of having the footy players come to your school or footy club and hoping that a Dees player would be involved and trying to impress him with your 8 yr old skill

What worries me is when you read stories from players like Bates when he was asked about relocation, his response was along he lines of it doesn't concern the players we just play. They should care about the club, it pays there bills, if it folds or relocates then it will affect them.

Players go away on trips yes like preseason ones...well why dont we sell tickets for supporters to tag along with players. I know it sounds a bit weird but it could generate a fair amount of $ as i would be prepared giving $5000 just to spend a few days with the boys

Another great idea! I used to work at a Utilities company in Melb who was intimately involved with Jimmys Reach program, they sued to "sell" positions to there yearly Reach camp for vulnerable kids to raise funds. Besides being a great revenue raiser for Reach it was a great way to interact for both parties.

Again I'd be orried about players commitemment to these things, if they are made to go then they do but they do no actively seek out the opportunites or seem to push foro things to do, Playstation and dropping thousands of $$ on the horses is more what they are wanting to do.

I'm sure that most, if not all of the players would be willing to sacrifice one weekend a year (remember, it can be a rotational thing) to help secure the club's future. They already do a number of clinics, what's a once-a-year coaching gig with some kids?

You can get 2 separate teams going, with one player a week coaching, which adds up to 44 listed players. Easily can be done. And you could even initiate a little competition between the two teams, with a big match at the end of the year and the winner can get a small replica of a premiership cup and some Melbourne freebies. Very small financial outlay and an easy way to boost AusKick numbers, which are dreadful at the moment. If we don't get kids on board, we WILL die.

Another idea to get kids involved, is if parents are willing to pay for a premium membership where they get to 'buddy' up to a player. Maybe get a special one-on-one coaching session with them, a worn guernsey and a personalised birthday card. Again, it's a good opportunity for parents to convert their kids for life and it's extra money for the club.

None of us can say how much any of these things will cost, but it's ideas that could generate support and that's the key here. A lot of the stuff mentioned is really not going to cost the club much in terms of set-up costs, but it will certainly help recruit people and wipe out our debt quicker.

Some great ideas emerging here, and I'll happily back the preferred direction with my hard earned $s. All I'd ask in return is for the Club to keep us loyal members informed about progress. Something simple like the membership thermometer would be fine, so long as it is properly maintained. (I also felt miffed about the brick. We never found out how much was raised, or as far as I recall, how the $s were used).

There's something seriously wrong if we're not doing things like that when we make our big Casey push.

The adopting a school angle is an interesting one, but I think we need to push the team aspect.

Hawthorn has been doing this for years in the Casey area through their multicultural program (A program MFC doesn't have).

Most kids in the Casey area are already Hawthorn supporters.

I always assumed that players are forced out into the community and to schools, would be good to see and hear about what we are doing as a club. Also I'd like to see the players take some "ownership" (working in a office too long..) of that side of things. Have the off field staff oversee it but the boys take it on as something they can "own" and run... They all go on how they are doing these courses and uni degrees in the back ground to help them with life after footy, here is another way they can develop planning skills and implementation skills, project management and projct delivery skills...

Lets be positive about it.. what do the people and kids of the area want... how can we do it differently to the Hawks and steal a march on them? Again I look to the refugee community that anicdotally is forming up in some of the areas of Casey. How do we help refugees assimilate to the community and make there transition easier into our way of life whilst trying to gather the next generation of MFC supporters?

i mentioned in an earlier post about a direct debit by the club.

let me expand on this, how about monthly direct debit organised through the clubs email system similar to the recent survey.

$10 dollars every month, not just for a little while but forever or until you die or tell them different, like if you were going into hospital to get your brain removed to become a collingwood supporter.

imagine if only 5000 members did this every month- only two coffies a month, $50000 a month $600000 a year, just for two coffies.

imagine the investement fund accumulating after the debt was paid off - just for two coffies.

this year is our 150 and the majority of us members have had no imput, festivities or even a change to show our faith and commitiment to the club, except for the walk to the G which was truely outstanding.

ITS OUR CLUB , organise a way for us to help and if it only takes two coffies to see us hold the cup up they will be the best coffies i ever had.

The dual membership idea and giving the ticket to a charity group has been sent to the MFC. The MFC membership manager will speak with the AFL about it next week and the concept has been sent to the board. When asked about the possibility of it actually occuring, it seems the club is being guided by the members survey and how members would like to financially support the club via alternate membership types

It saddens me that their are VERY RICH toff Demon supporters that have MILLIONS OF DOLLARS in the bank, yet they wont wipe the debts out for the MFC.

If I was a millionaire, I would wipe it out myself.

Any member or coterie member who has millions in the bank yet isnt joining with other fellow toffs to wipe the debt, well they are not true supporters.

Their are very rich Carlton members too, but you don't see them wiping their debt. Same goes for the Bulldogs and Kangaroos. They don't want to see the club pay off their debt, then end up with the same problem in 3-4 years time. The club must learn to be viable on its own two feet.

Its a bit RICH coming from you to be suggesting they wipe off their hard earned.

Is that fair dinkum?? Sooooo the deal is done for us to move in..... but we actually can not afford to move in and set it up? WTF!?

I don't think we need another $500k, we need to be have enough cash to get us into the OPRS (oly park rectan stad) whilst bringing down the debt to a sustainble level whilst still having cash to spend.

It amazes me to still see that we are $500k short to set this up yet we have been hearing that it is a done deal for how long now.

To everyone who thinks we are all clear with Jim coming onboard and for us to stay in the comp and not relocate wake up. We have no 2'nds team for next year, we have no training base as yet and we still have no admin base at OPRS as yet, and seem to be seeping money like an ebola victim.

We need to role the sleeves up even further it seems...

We can't expect to rely on the kindnest of millionaires or Indian Princes.

As supporters we should all get together and help the MFC the best we can to raise money to help save our club.

I read in the papers today how Richmond under the guidance of Neville Crowe with their "save our skins" campaign in the early 90's was able to raise $1 million dollars in 10 weeks!
