Wonder if Richmond supporters think that Tuck was good, except he let McLean run wild...?

At the end of the day McLean is not a tagger, and his main role is not to stop his direct opponent. Of course he has to chase and man-up when the ball is going the other way (which he does, and he lays as many tackles as anyone), but if you play him on a damaging player, expect both players to get the ball equally.

It's a case of, would you rather the opposition tag McLean out of the game, or would you rather let McLean and his direct opponent do as they please?

he should be a tagger. excpet there is no one else who will fill his role. and the problem with mclean is he is not as near as damaging as i wish he would be.

6. Brock

5. Garland

4. Bruce

3. Wheaters - Although he did butcher the ball alot

2. Green

1. White - WHy do people think he played poorly? I though he did quite well

Though CJ showed some promise. Definately looked the most comfortable hes been.

DUnn did a great job on Foley. kept him to 16 touches but has the learn to damage them the other way

very interesting point. the reason i thought tuck was so good yesterday was because of his ability to win the ball around the stoppages. his first 3 steps were too quick for mclean and unless the ball went to brock, tuck was away from him. tuck got lots of ball in these circumstances and cleared it out well for his teammates, he also seemed to have an ability to always get a disposal out, even when being tackled.

mclean tried to stop tuck. he tried to get in front of him at the stoppages, he tried to run with him around those packs (ie at ball ups) but he didnt manage to keep him quiet.

brock got a lot of it, and was among our best no doubt. but there was something missing yesterday that i felt meant he was beaten.

but good call re tuck being best on, he certainly couldnt be given the same criteria i used to judge brock. therefore richo prob gets it by default lol

How many bounces did Brock have?

I thought that was a good part of his game yesterday, backed himself, had a bit of a run and i thought generally used it pretty well

i think he looks his best when he is using the ball rather than when he is around stoppages.

Funny how the media is unanimous in saying that Green has been our best player this year, yet we have him 4th.

Brock doesn't have the pace and chase down ability of a tagger, he must be our most damaging player. The hope is that eventually he'll become so good to the point where his direct opponent must close check him or he'll get hurt every time we get the ball. That's hypothetically how it works, two top players on each other, the better player forces the other out of the game.

I agree. If you're playing on a man, ideally you're quicker than him, since he's dictating where you're going.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
