20 points is nothing, if we keep close enough with them all game, we'll run over the top of them, after their day in the hot sun last week in brisbane

Signs aint good tho. Tackle count way down = lack of pressure; getting hammered by frees = 2nd to ball.

Anybody actually watching live?

Seems like Silvia, Moloney, Bartram & Jones are turning it over regularly?

10.6 to 3.4 half time.

I think the MFC should send the St's an invoice for helping them run into form.

21 tackles in a half. Pathetic.

I'm listening to 3aw and we are getting an absolute bagging.

St's are having goal kicking practice. They kick a point, we kick it back to them, they have another go. :(

Possible ruptured achilles for russel robertson...that would be season ending...

McLeans nose has been flattened all over his face...

not a fun day for the dees...

desperate to get Morton back into the team after he recovers from the flu...not because he would make a difference to the result but at least on a day when you are getting thrashed, it is something to remind you that all will be good one day in the future. Players like Yze may deserve a game but it really doesnt achieve much long term...and for those who will argue that we need experienced players to avert thrashings, today we added White, Yze, Wheatley and it hasnt done much

96 to 25 (3mins into 4th quarter)...possible wrist injury to Bate...we are dropping like flies

If it were anybody except the St's, we'd be a chance to lose this by 150+. On second thoughts, we still are.

i've been watching on tv because i have to run off to work, so i'll post my thoughts here quickly.

channel 7's coverage is a disgrace. they have been running full adbreaks after every goal. what a joke.

we are not trying hard enough to win the footy, we are worried more about negating st kilda.

we have no forward line - this is our biggest problem. the delivery into the forward line may be shite, but you can see the ball carriers look up, hesitate, realise there is nothing on, and just kick it long and high to a hot spot. we need another tall forward desperately. if newton can walk he should be playing next week because we are hopeless up there.

likewise, once the ball drops they are just running it out of there without any pressure.

umpires are shite again. 10-3 free kicks at one stage. not sure final count. ball had 6 at this point. what chance do we really have? holding the ball frees are just as bad as last week, and are paid sporadically.

the afl are morons. i still dont fathom how they designed this stadium - it is horrible. it seems like not a thought went into it. we were crucified by the sun in the first quarter, players dropping marks all over our forward line. close the freaking roof if you cant get it right.

i have been impressed with garland again. he appeared to line up on reiwolt and he didnt kick any goals on him. any goals he got were someone elses fault ie wheatly was manned up on him. yes he had goal assists however, again i dont blame garland as other players should have been accountable for their men. our shining light today imo (even if its about as bright as a small flickering candle).

And this against a team with virtually no backline

if newton can walk he should be playing next week because we are hopeless up there.

Newton won't get a game because he is a one jump wonder, without the where-with-all to match it in this league. Full stop.

Today was as bad as its been all year, including 1st 2 rounds. I don't rate the St's at all .............

Back to ground zero. Better take a break before I start ranting again.

2 things to ponder: why wasn't Valenti playing - at least he tackles and shows poise.

And Nathan Jones is a real worry for me - I'll post a topic later.

Pity the poor buggers watching this crap later today/night.

Young guys like Valenti should be played for the rest of the season. Wasting time on twilight stars who careers are just about over does nothing to make this club go forward. Game time for the future generation of players should be the priority.

Well in Valenti will be in the squad for the rest of the year now. Even when Jack comes back in (probably this week you would think) Robbo will go on the LTI list...

I don't mind seeing my team loose. I can accept we are in a rebuilding stage. But putting out the performance we put out today is an embarresment. And the football department is an absolute joke - putting Russel Roberson on the field with the injury he had. It was only a corky i know but ffs - it was bad enough to be heavily strapped. Why take the risk? MFC football department needs to pull their head in.

Yes, the football dept should take some caning for today, and the mostly abysmal efforts this year.

Yep, yesterday was the worst of them all, especially considering that the first two were against now top-3 teams. Maybe TD had something to do with it...

Agree.

It's no excuse at all but since the start of 2006 we have played there 5 times during the day. The sun and surface would be quite unsettling if you weren't used to it.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
