Nice try, but you won't win playing that game with me.

As I've already stated several times I haven't seen alot of him

read: you haven't seen him at all.

You asked the question and got the answer.

I've seen him live a few times and naturally watched him very closely. I understand that you don't like what you hear, but there's not much point me arguing with someone who confesses that they don't know the subject first hand and are relying on unsubstantiated heresay. In other words, you've no clue.

Quite strange, really.

That's exactly what they did.

Took Roughead at 2 because they knew Richmond would take him with their pick at 4 if they didn't.

Can't find it but it was in the Herald Sun about a fortnight ago. They had an interview with Hawthorn's recruiting guy

It's not an uncommon practice to do that. When you have two players you want, and want one more, to risk losing the one you want more to have a crack at getting both. There was a quote from CAC a while ago indicating that we did this when drafting Frawley ahead of Petterd. He rated Petterd higher, but thought that there was more chance of Petterd still being there at 30, so he took Frawley first. Something like that.

Yeah, i've heard this type of thing a few times about different teams in different drafts... and i hate to be a pessimist, but it reeks of a Recruiting Manager putting a bit of spin on their drafting crop to give the supporters a bit more hope that their players will soon become stars & return the team to prominence, and also to elevate their status in our eyes as being genius recruiters.

Its like CAC after saying after last years draft that if Morton was taken at 4 he would've taken Grimes.

Maybe. But it sure goes a long way to making it sound like he pulled the wool over the eyes of the other recruiters. "What a crafty fox that CAC is. Hang on to that one! Give him a raise..."

Then again, i do think Grimes will be a star.

Playing in the midfeild.

If you want a goals per game average look in the U18 championships where he was being played FF/ CHF.

Naitanui is years away from being an AFL Player. I watch a game evey week at the ABC, The WAFL is nowhere near the standard we are used to. By the Time Naitanui plays a senior game he will be homesick & be back to Perth. Not worth the Effort sadly as the MFC does not have years to wait.

Bring on Jack "Charlie" Watts ............."Should be a good one today sir.Local Boy"

Yep, my description of you fits perfectly, too arrogant to have a discussion or a debate.

God help your kid, who knows what type of person he'll grow into with you as a role model .

My original point was that if they are even in talent, go for the KPP.

But this is where you are wrong, no two players are ever the same or equal.

Hey just wondering if any one new any thing about Mathew Martin from west adelaide also known as "The Rock" Apparently he was super impressive playing at full back, is really strong overhead and is mobile for a big man, i belive we also need another Kp backman and from wat ive seen he is predicted to go really late in the draft pic 60+ woudnt he be worth a try??

Yze_Magic,

C'mon champ, you have tried using that statistic before on Demonology and I burnt you down with flames then and I will do it again here.

I will have to rehash what i wrote then in rsponse.

During his 6 games for Sandy, Jack Watts played a mix of key forward and midfield for Sandy.

Some games he played mostly Forward, some mostly Midfield.

Game 1 v Gippsland - Forward

- 2 goals 2 behinds - 8 kicks 4 hb 6 marks (3 CM)

Game 2 v North Ballarat - Midfield

- 17 kicks 5 hb 4 marks

Game 3 v Northern Knights - Midfield

- 13 kicks 7 hb 2 marks

Game 4 v Gippsland - Forward

- 3 goals 12 kicks 3 hb 4 marks

Game 5 v Dandenong - Midfield

- 13 kicks 6 hb 6 marks (2 CM)

Game 6 v Geelong - Forward/Midfield

- 3 goals 1 behinds - 17 kicks 6 hb 9 marks (3 CM)

2008 TAC Cup

Averaged 18.5 disposals 5.2 marks 2 tackles

2008 U18 Champs

- 5 games - 14 goals - Ave 2.8 goals - 3 BOG

- Larke Medalist for Best Player of the Competition (where he played key forward)

*Note - Western Australian Most Valuable Player of the Champs - Clancey Pearce

Neither Naitinui nor Rich got best player for their state.

For the record Naitanui scored 9 goals in 17 matches for Swan Districts and averaged 10.2 disposals per game. My math has Watts averaging more goals and more possesions per game.

Naitinui is a great athlete but he is a long long term project. He would be totally smashed up in the AFL right now-He is long & Lean right now. Jack Watts is in Melbourne at Brighton Grammer (who already wear Red and Blue) so he must be our number one priority.

Let me say one thing though. Daniel Rich is a total Gun-I have seen him play for Subiaco via Tape who just won the Flag easily from Swan Districts. Rich is a young Superstar, so if the Dees pickrd him up i wouldn't be too concerned, if only we could get Rich & Watts.

Bring on Trade Week!!

But this is where you are wrong, no two players are ever the same or equal.

You are harping on a semantical argument.

Of course no two players are "equal" in talents; there are so many variables to consider, strengths and weaknesses that apply differently to a midfielder as compared to a forward, athletic ability etc.

If there is no stand-out player of the few that are considered in the top 3 - Rich, Watts, and Natanui - then go with the KPP.

"As for the future stars, Nicholas Naitanui played back, forward and in the ruck for Swans but had limited impact with 11 possessions and 12 hit outs.

just a little snippet i found in an article regarding Subiaco win over swan district yesterday.. naita won't be ready nex year. watts will!

Haha no he won't! It'd be like us trying to put Cale Morton at CHF this year... but Watts is the correct choice for No. 1.

Naitanui could be ANYTHING, but you can't use a number 1 pick on a project player. Its just way too much of a gamble.

Didn't you say Naitanui is your cousin?

Have you spoken to him about the possibility of him coming to Melbourne?

LOL

Watts ready next year?

Good luck with that mate. The kid wont be ready til 2011.

Naitanui (your supposed cousin) will play AFL straight away.

YM Seriously mate.. you would draft a guy you know wants to go back home in 2 years.

Why?

Posted

Watts won't play in 2009.

Might be a good thing, lock him in a gym for the year and watch him explode in 2010.

Posted

I expect him to play as much as Maric did this year or even grimes.

No worries there, like you said next year will be to finish school and hit the gym hard.

Where is your proof of this?

So I guess we only have Cale Morton for one more year as well? Sad, I really like the kid.

i agree with Y_M. Stop pretending as if you know the intentions of every player to come out of another state. There are more players that stay at their clubs than actually leave.

And we all know you a relative of Jack Watts. Stop denying it.

You just have to hear Naita on both occasions he has been asked publically about it. He says he very much wants to stay home. He didnt like the attention he got while here in melbourne for un18 final.

Cale Morton is different kettle of fish mate. He has his brothers here last year, now as he is perth, just celebrated a huge family function to farewell his parents as they are moving to melbourne now. So basically his family live in melbourne now.

So there is my proof. YM, again would you want to draft a player you know wants to go home as soon as he can?

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
