Palmer is at his best already, your right he is killing it, but that's it, he doesn't really have much room to improve, I admit I wanted him too, he was my number 1 choice. But sadly no, it didn't happen, but you cannot deny Morton has the best set of skills for a young guy like every and if he puts on 10 kilos will be a classy superstar like Jimmy Hird.

Morton is still growing, he will develop in to a fantastic, big, footballer. To play at this level with the body he has now shows how good he will be when he fills out. I would still take him over Palmer in a heartbeat, and , yes, I do think Plamer is a gun.

you just have to watch cale and the way that he moves to realise that he is just a baby that has done his first half preseason, that he has pretty good skills under pressure and that by playing him now, he will be better for it..

Not regretting the choice at all.

Cale has played two extraordinary games against Geelong and Adelaide. Any other year he would have had a rising star nomination by now but due to the abundance of young players gong round right now it just hasn't been his time. Trust me the kid will be a gem.

Speaking to Dean Bailey last night he said that he though Morton would end up in the midfield when he put on some bulk.

I think its a size issue. Cale morton looks like he has more time than most footballers when he is in possession, when he gets a bigger engine and some size he will be something to contend with.

DB suggested that Cale's aerobic engine is second only to Cam Bruce's, but yes he will need to develop muscle over time or he will snap.

I wasn't sure of Palmer pre-draft but now i am all over him. And just because he is already dominating doesn't mean he is at his best. He will only get fitter, faster, stronger, more skilled and learn to deal with opposition players. To say that he's reached his peak at age 18 or 19 is ridiculous. A gun now and will only get better!

Actually I can, there is not much room for improvement right now, he was a gun in the championships and as a junior, there was a reason he wasn't number 1 pick. Recruiters thought he wouldn't get much better than he is now.

While alot said Morton had the most potential in the draft, he could be anything, Palmer was a sure fire bet to be a 150+ game performer for whatever club he went to. But Morton has the skill, time and poise that Palmer doesn't have, the only thing he is lacking is strength, which will come.

Palmer can slightly improve his awareness and skill, but he won't make the drastic improvments that we hope Morton will.

Palmer will have a great career with his effort, hard running, determination.

But if you can't see that if Morton applies this same work ethic he will be an amazing player you are kidding yourself, his natural god given talent is an absolute thing of beauty to a football purist.

There only 4 teams who have vying for bottom 4 position!

Freo have lost their last 3-4 games after leading at 3/4 time. they are not far off. they will start winning games very soon and with games at home in subi, are bound to win a few.

As for Essendon, have you even looked at their draw.... They play WCE twice, Melb, Freo, Carlton and Richmond in the run home. basically they play all the bottom teams. With Lucas and McVeigh getting back to full fitness, i have a feeling they will start winning games.

WCE just thrashed Adelaide. they are not that bad... plus have Beau Waters, Butler and Kerr to come back into their side.

I think we still have a strong case for the spoon unfortunately (or fortunately if you take the perspective on draft picks).

As for the Palmer comment---- Palmer looks great, however cannot compare to Morton who looks like a skinny runt, yet seems to consistently kick a goal a game and rack up 15-18 classy disposals. Morton is developing beautifully. if u look at his physique you would legitimately argue he is 2-3 years away from senior footy, yet still seems to look at home at afl level. Too early to start wishing we picked up a different player when Morton going swimmingly.

thats 10.96 effective disposals for morton and 14.25 effective for palmer...

The outstanding stat is that Palmer has won 15 more contested possessions and laid twice as many tackles in 1 less game.Morton is only winning 3 contested possessions a game,the rest are receives.Morton is laying 1 tackle a game,not nearly good enough at this level.Palmer has 2 kicks for every 1 handball and Morton is almost kicking and handballing equally,i'd like to see Morton kicking more to a forwardline target,using the silky skills everyone says he has,rather than giving off handballs.
