The fact that the AFL lets this type of stuff go, and commentators laugh off this type of behaviour, is not lost on me as I watch yet another woman be killed at the hands of a man. We do not do enough to eradicate this type of [censored] “boys will be boys” behavior in footy, and it’s very much reflected in our society too. Punching someone in the guts off the ball should never be allowed. It does nothing for our game and it’s the easiest non football action to judge and punish players for. The Pendelbury defense of “I was provoked” is up there with the “she was asking for it” defense. Putrid.

He's devoid of confidence and doesn't seem to be the type of character to tough it out in the one's (could be wrong on that). I trust the FD and i understand the valid arguments about structure, but he strikes me as someone who would be better served playing in the twos to regain confidence rather than in the limelight (hope i'm wrong and he kicks 3 against the Cats).

I read today that Hinkley has coached Port for 12 seasons and in that time they’ve never, in any season: Had a winning record against top 4 teams, and Only had ONE season with a winning record against other top 8 teams. The very definition of downhill skiers.

If the AFL were serious about this then one of two things need to happen. One. (And prob the more likely) is someone presses charges or worksafe steps in and forces the AFL to act. Two. And what they should do, simply state. Any striking action is a 1 week suspension minimum, we then look at force (1 week for low, 2 for medium, 3 for forceful, 4 for severe) and where the strike occurred to the opponent (1 for body area, 2 for head) and wether in play or behind play (1 for in play, 2 for off the ball, 3 for behind play.) So the minimum for hitting someone is 4 weeks. Watch it disappear out of the game. Real quick.

Miller played on Petty. Miller had 9. 7 and 5. (disposals, marks, tackles).. Petty had 6,3 and 1. i watched Petty closely as I don’t believe he’ll ever make a forward. He was lost. Miller dragged up the ground at every opportunity. Petty’s best game post round 20 (6 goals) was round 2 v Hawks when he had 12,9 and 1 playing as a back man.

It’s called a ‘love tap’, and because they let Pendlebury do it every player in the comp can now do it every week. Good job AFL. Nailed it.

Whatever is old is new again. In the old VFL days what Pickett did was called striking & he could have expected 2 to 4 weeks.
