  1. Past hour
  2. Who gives a flying f*#k what Pies supporters think, but we do need to play with a harder edge & get rid of 29yo old plodders who came from other clubs, l can name 3 of them. Oh yeah & then there’s Petty, BBB & Shcache But what burns the most for most is the way we handled Grundy & Jordon, we’ve turned a premiership list into a pack of also ran has beens
  3. Today
  4. By who?? McVee, Windsor, Billings, Langdon, Laurie, Bowey, Rivers, Fritsch, Petty, these guys couldn’t hurt a fly. Salem, Petracca, Gawn, Oliver, TMac, Nibbles,Sparrow, honest hard at the ball players with no mongrel Viney & Kozzie would have a crack but are midgets So that leaves May & a 20yo JVR Not a lot of physicality there I’m afraid Hope you’re feeling ok after your WhatsApp backlash precious
  5. Which players are possibly open to a good offer? More like a wish list. Ideally Age 22-25 , high impact, experienced, returning Victorian? Dissatisfied with current team/prospects? Just scratching the surface though I’m sure to have included or missed something obvious. Some high cost/value, others cheaper but may not offer much. Mainly mids and forwards. Have not included any rucks as I believe it will be difficult to attract any after last year until Max actually retires. (grouped in clubs, possibility and by quality of the group) Serong, Young, Brayshaw, Butters, Drew, Bergman, Davies-Uniake, Holmes Callaghan, Ash, Taranto, Baker, Short, Ross, Graham Dale, Richards, Smith Sinclair, King, Rayner, Walsh, Curnow Parish, Hobbs, King, Humphrey, Ballard, Couldn’t find too many from these teams: Coll, Haw, WC, Adl.
  6. Gerard needs to move on. I’ve heard they did all the assessments and he passed so went back out. He then went downhill after this and so the call was made. The Drs can only work off symptoms, they don’t have a crystal ball that tells them exactly what’s wrong. Let’s not forget they would’ve done the exact same assessment for Steven May against the hawks and he would’ve failed, so was removed immediately.
  7. Gerard Whateley’s take on Petracca incident Apologies if this has been posted previously, but quite a damning article by Gerard Whateley on the duty of care that appeared to be absent last Monday. According to him, Collingwood players (Moore and Crisp) were concerned enough to ask Christian if he should be on the field. If true, this is a shocking indictment on our club and certainly does not help with the litany of other stuff that has been swirling about recently. I’m beginning to wonder if our fitness program/ethos, whereby you build resilience by playing through injury has started to take its toll. It feels as though the players are being told that their mental and physical well-being comes before everything, yet clearly several of them are banged up. I wonder if this is creating disillusionment within the playing group?
  8. Ross is expert in not winning flags and on his 3rd senior gig not sure we should take tips from him
  9. I may be way off base here and I certainly can't speak for the teams of the glamour years in the fifties and early sixties but hasn't Melbourne always been seen as more of a gentleman's team ( or at least educated private school) . This may just be a perception but perceptions can create some reality. As a supporter base we have probably been erroneously painted as cheese eating, Pinot quaffing , cigar smoking snow aficionados who drive European cars with small red and blue stickers on them. Have the players been wrongly( although I'm not sure about lately) presented as Robbie Floweresque and decent chaps rather than thugs who don't have elite skills and athleticism. This is quite false in my opinion as we've all witnessed our fair share of Strawbbs, Stynes, Grinters, Jacksons and Ditteriches. ( We could easily name a dozen others). But ai think in the eyes of pies fans we are perceived as soft. The whole Jack Watts saga comes back to mind. Now as mentioned we are not privy to what Gus or the coaches wanted. But I do believe our lack of response rightly or wrongly has fueled this narrative. We one a flag in 21 so we can't be too soft but maybe we are getting tired and apathetic which gives the same picture somewhat. I reckon pies fans have gone away thinking we are physically lacking. We play the filth in the last round so it will be interesting to see what transpires.
  10. BG: 'A good culture is a team that wins, a bad culture is a team that's losing' There you have it. No more correspondence should be entered into.
  11. The two low lights of the night were the soft 50 mtr penalty which thwarted St Kilda’s comeback and BT calling a Brisbane player “Ashcroft” despite aforementioned player recovering from a knee reco since July last year.
  12. If we get Lobb I’m done
  13. Only actually 34, I guess he got delisted in his mid 20s
  14. Didn't Leppitsch get rinsed at Brisbane because of his lack of understanding of the modern day player? He was still in players face screaming? Hope he has grown...
  15. Col, if you are there for a few days and you like a beer (and a pork knuckle), the German Club is across the road from the Gabba. Too busy for me on game days, but a nice old club. You will be staying close.
  16. Definitely do! I’ve stayed there a few times but when I rang to book for our round two match last year I was told they no longer operate. I’d be rapt if they were still operating because it’s a unique place. It’s got Bates Motel vibes.
  17. Pies once again into a big name player that fits a perfect need for us, while meanwhile we're busy in the background just hussling up this war cheat for Rory Lobb.
  18. We’re in section 16/17 behind the goals (gate 8).
  19. Now you've got me worried. I booked through a third party online site and they've accepted my booking (made 2 weeks ago). I'm going to have to follow that up.
  20. Brisbane crowd are pretty sedate. I usually get the best tickets I can and go with it.
  21. That’s where I usually stay but I heard it had closed down (?) so I’ve booked elsewhere this time.
  22. Fair enough. My vision is as you said, from the wing or on TV.
  23. That's your target pub then. Usually a good amount of Dees supporters, especially after the game. Good pub too. Dont want to speak for Demon Deb, but the Qld Demons function is usually around the Gold Coast game.
  24. Oh, I will be there! Do you know how to ensure I'm seated with decent (ie Melbourne) people?
  25. I'm at the Paramount Motel which I believe is about 3 minutes walk away!
