Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sheedy would be a good coach for the MFC. But he will need to let CAC do his job. Sure he can have input into decisions, just not as much as he has had at Essendon. There is a reason why CAC is recruiting manager, because he is pretty good at his job. He studies these kids throughout the entire year, and knows their skills and attributes. Plus he knows what we need as a team.

McKenna or Voss both have what it takes, however Im leaning towards Voss, due to the fact he would be more marketable and has a high profile.

where exactly DO they put the use by stamp?

this is Soooo cliche without substance....are you age-phobic or something

With his years comes experience.. Its unrivalled in the AFL . He doesnt have to kick the bloody thing.

the words Young and experienced are often contra to each other... you want experience.. again...read carefully....SHEEDY !!

the modern game is a different game and sheeds despite being the genius he is doesn't seem to have the knowledge on how to coach it.

and do we really want sheedy? he is ess and richmond through and through. why would we want a coach whos heart isn't in it?

Come on guys-Sheedy is not our man. I admire what he has done in footy but even he admits he is hard to get along with and he is very eccentric, almost embarrassing in what he says sometimes, and I am not that sure about his recruiting choices.

I can't see his image as part of MFC at all.

It is not about my personal embarrassment at all! An odd conclusion from my comments! It is about the image he brings to the club. I want success for all of us.

I saw Sheeds on the Before the Game on Saturday night and thought he behaved oddly. It added to my disquiet about him being at Melbourne.

Also my dad follows the Bombers so I see their games a bit and I have discussed Sheedy and his coaching skills over quite sometime. I am not convinced he is a coach for this era of footy. (eg Hille left off the ground on Saturday and he didn't notice)

I can tell you pretty much that should Sheedy come to Melbourne. it wil be because he wants to , more than the other way around. If he came you can bet his heart and passion would be in it.

Yep thats right...Sheeds has no idea of the modern game !!...excuse me whilst i fall around in convulsive laughter.

some observers really havent been paying attention to the modern game.. .. Is 2000 recent enough for some ??

and even this year with his share of injuries he's likely to take a team into the finals. He's go no idea at all !!! lol

Voted Sheedy, but would be happy if it was in an advisory role to a younger assistant like Voss, McKenna, Hardwicke (a la Parkin / Brittain) with a plan of succession in place.

I too think we should steer clear of ex-Dees.

SHEEDY ALL THE WAY OR GUY MCKENNA WOULD BE MY SECOND CHOICE . SHEEDY WOULD BE SENSATIONAL FOR THE CLUB. WE MIGHT FINALLY GET A DECENT MEMBERSHIP!! :)

Agree on Sheedy and imo should get the job if he wants it. No doubt would bring to the club just about everything we currently lack. I can't understand the wraps on McKenna? What has he done? Happy to be enlightened as to his coaching record.

assistant at the filth

Yep, knew that and also that he coached Claremont ( not all that well apparently). Just wondering if I have missed something about his achievements in coaching. If he is on the shortlist of 12 I'd say there are 11 ahead of him.

But as an understaudy to Sheedy for say 2-3 years, then an agreed handover.

I fsheedy comes across, the facts are there needs to be a succession plan, and Viney will be clearly ready by then, and have spent time under a master coach.

I agree with you here Paul......

I genuinely love that idea as it ticks a hell of a lot of boxes, both now with our current catalogue of on- and off-field problems, Sheedy would be a near perfect fit to rebuild and promote, as well as having a very firm eye on the future of the club well beyond the next three to five years, in Viney after a great apprenticeship.

He's not the only one who understands the modern game. He does have legitimate competition. But to suggest he doesnt know which way is up !! well ...thats vaudeville at its best !! :-))

if sheeds was an expert on todays game the bombers would be dominating...

Gee, Malthouse hasn't won a premiership since '94 and got thumped last week by almost 100 points - he doesn't know much about today's game. The swans are out of the eight, Roos must have forgotten it all since last year...

It won't happen but I wish it would. Sheedy for 3 years, Viney steps in after that. I ideally want Viney now but im assuming it wont happen. So I hope a plan like that does.

Just having a quick look at the poll results and Sheeds really is the supporters choice. Ratten and Voss both had some support but they are now out of the race. Any idea as to who the shortlisted 5 will be - Hutchy said on the Footy Show last night that Sheedy was a definite to make the list. I assume Bond and Connolly will fill 2 of the places. Who else?

Id say definately Mckenna.

Then possibly Sumich, Liba or Williams (Sandy)

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
