  1. I've pointed out before that I feel Denham's antics are all a show at a slow time of year and my belief that KB is the puppet master given his dislike of Schwab so I see right through these antics. While it is healthy to have criticism to reign in the positivity and I'm interested to hear genuine voices like the Mike Sheahans or pretty much anyone from The Age, those criticisms are not valid when they evolve from grossly biased opinion, twisting of facts, lack of knowledge and sheer laziness to question, investigate or understand.
  2. Unless Scully stayed for the same money or less than Trengove we would have left ourselves open to criticism for paying over the odds, same as now with Clark? I think the whole point with this argument is that you can't win when someone is running an agenda against you.
  3. My thoughts on this as it has gone on week after week is that Denham is using the MFC for his personal amusement. Don't believe KB 'standing up' for the MFC, He hates Schwabb with a passion and I wouldn't be surprised if in reality KB is winding up Denham. We are moving into a slow time of year so they have to kick around something or someone because SEN without AFL is about as interesting as watching paint dry. Denham would also be aware of this thread and similar and is probably getting a kick out of the fact that someone who has achieved nothing in football now has a thread 7 pages long. He probably even shows to his editor as evidence that someone is reading or listening to him!
  4. I can only see Energy Watch up top with more down the bottom of the front page. Interesting that if you hover on The Energy Watch logo at the top it comes up as Kaspersky with a link to their web site. The social media buttons also seem to be 'up the putt'
  5. I use to support the expansion concept but I am now over it. The AFL is expanding because it, like all businesses wants to grow its audience and revenues and put more money in its pockets. This is of little or no benefit to those of us who are already customers. The AFL is under no threat in the southern states from Rugby (who can't even organise themselves into one code!) or Soccer. I would love someone to explain to me how expansion will benefit Melbourne? As I see it, it will further dilute our chances of playing finals or winning flag and like all things that 'grow' the gap between the have's & have not's will widen.
  6. No, he is a victim of his own stupidity. He did nothing illegal but the fact he left the scene of the accident probably in the hope he wouldn't be identified tells me, he knew he was doing wrong. He clearly was not taking his Australian representation seriously and therefore represented the club poorly. He is also is a serial offender and a pi55 poor example for his young team mates.
  7. In actual fact the 'rumour' was that his contract was not going to be renewed. So that is a different situation. Unfortunately for DB he blinked first! I don't agree that the perils of GWS are the perils of other clubs, GWS are yet to play a game, have no supporters and are almost wholly funded by the AFL (meaning the us/other clubs). It looks to an outsider that those who are running GWS are going about it like cowboys, drunk with the money and power the AFL has vested in them. There has been no humility from their group. Allen, Stibbard, Holmes and now even Tom'$ Dad have all set a pi55 poor example. I reckon you will see it come back and bite them on the rrrr's. They are developing a culture which is bound to lead to failure and take a lot of $$$ with it.
  8. I'm going to ask Greg Denham to be president of the MFC. I'm sure he will appreciate me saving him time for when he next needs MFC material.
  9. The one thing Kennett got right is that Melbourne supporters "would not have welcomed" him. This was most likely a misguided attempt by some drunk, low ranking social crawler out to impress his mates (or Jeff). Story would have to be at least 6 months as it looks particularly stale in the context of closing out the season sans Bailey and a so far successful transformation of the FD.
  10. I don't think there is any need for ppl to come on this thread and give us the "it was a lot of money", "what would you do" or "give the kid a break" BS The purpose of the thread is to review his season, it's in the title! If you think he had a great year, gave 100% and was totally committed to the MFC, its supporters and his teammates go ahead and post such, by all means. You'll only be kidding yourself....again!
  11. Who are the three people who voted Yes?
  12. I listened to Fine's take on it. It was shallow. Martin especially has great versatility but he will only ever be a relief ruckman and I expect he will continue to be thrown around again next year but eventually settle in defence taking the oppositions tallest and releasing Frawley. To have used pick 12 to get a mid as Fine suggested would be a hit & miss scenario. He also failed to mention the fact that Jack Viney is in the bag for next year so there is our hard bodied inside mid. This years GF showed again how important it is to have multiple talls in September (October) and even through the year given the tendency to now rest players + injuries. Lack of bigs derailed Hawthorn. No reason why 4 of our 5 talls can't be in our best 22. If one gets itchy feet they will have great currency in a trade. As I understand it Jamar will be a free agent in a couple off years? I think he (Jamar) is most likely to go in the medium term.
  13. Doing an honest 2011 assessment..... Tom Scully was an absolute pea heart in 2011. Faced the media once and then sent out his teammates to do his bidding for the remainder of the year. No doubt created an undercurrent of distrust and in-cohesiveness that spread through the team and ultimately contributed to derail the year. On-field failed to present himself in a satisfactory condition (a situation which I am sure will be remarkably reversed in 2012 as it was the year before). When on field contributed at about 70% with kicking that continued to lack penetration and he also failed to kick goals, something all modern day midfielders must do. Very happy the club made one reasonable offer to him. The fact that his management then got GWS to up theirs at the 12th hour by seemingly claiming otherwise probably indicates what sort of germs we were dealing with. Now gone and will be easy to forget playing for an anonymous team in a backwater.
  14. You should have gone for a walk then I'd rather we went after Fev's brother!
  15. Issue could have arisen from his spot last week on SEN when he started fawning over how he reckoned Geelong built a club and a list through hard work and without tanking. I could see where it was leading! I thought for a second I could ring in and remind him about the low father/son picks that played in the Geelong flags, their ridiculous home ground advantage, the fact that Westpac wrote off 5 million in Geelong debt (under threat of not being able to do business in Geelong and unlike MFC supporters who dipped into their own pockets), how a club (any club) is obliged to work in the best interests of it's supporters (as Melbourne has). I could have rung in but I turned off instead. Not going to take the bait from this oxygen thief and kudos to that MFC supporter for ringing in outside of Denhams spot to pot him back.
  16. For sure. Deal with another club if NM aren't willing to get a deal done. No need for MFC to even explain to Adam if NM are hoping to pick him up in the PSD. If I was Adam I would be a bit put out about NM saying they like him to the extent of doing a medical but then being unwilling to trade for him.
  17. Not sure how hard we are really going for Clark but we ONLY need to offer a little more than what Freo are and as I understand it all Freo have put on the table to date is their first round pick 20. Our pick 12 or trade back a little from there would be all I want to offer. Martin stays. If his curve continues into next year we could end up with some serious egg on our faces. I also don't believe Martin would agree to go up there and he is within his rights to stay put since he was just re-signed.
  18. He's gone to work with Ross 'screw loyalty' Lyon. No surprise here!
  19. I've personally had a gutful of the tabloid media in OZ trying to influence and lead public attitudes so I've loved how everyone has slapped down their attempts to beat up what the Geelong players did. Pics of players behaving and sitting contently enjoying a drink would have also disappointed the media hoping to fill their increasingly irrelevant pages and air space with tales of smut.
  20. No reason to go hide IMO. It's not as though he doesn't realise nuff nuff supporters exist. A read of some threads on this forum and such will confirm it.

    Neil Craig

Based in what I saw over there in round 24 they only drink Farmers Union Iced Coffee. They are a bit different over there. Maybe Craigy needs to know you can get it here to get him across the line?
  22. Is this the "I'm taking my bat and ball and going home" argument?
  23. I have no problem with the Collar. We should embrace more things that differentiate us from the rest of the pack, especially the Franchise sides. Would love to know from the club if they sold more jumpers this year and what the overall feedback has been?
  24. Thinking about the amount of money I spend every year on football I'm not sure another cent could be squeezed from me so they might want to get it sorted. The AFL can carry the can for their ill conceived GWS push will suck money out of the game for little benefit for the next 20 years until it folds or moves where it belongs, Tassie. I see the player demands for a percentage of takings as a bit of an ambit claim. Yes their careers are short but the systems are there now to ensure they can live normal productive lives after footy.
  25. Likely to be more action this year with clubs who have lost players to GC and GWS able to trade those picks.
