  1. No chance of that being deleted DA, classic, wish I had been there. If I ever run into Dipper I'll ask him about it!
  2. Good points and contrast to my situation. I have to force myself to watch a game commentated by Bruce McAvaney and 7's coverage is overall carp, so this is the price I will pay as opposed to paying for Fox Footy!
  3. A PPV model for AFL over the net should not cost much at all. You can get access to MLB for $25 and I have bought one off games for about $5 IIRC. Even if they wanted to charge $20 a game to access via a set top box and my TV, $20 a game would still be cheaper for the 5 to 6 MFC games a year I can't get to. I suppose all I'm saying is I don't need the other games or paraphernalia.
  4. Spot on Sue! I have no idea why so many others think differently i.e. you get this & this etc. etc. or "it only costs" per week/per month, whatever! Fox habitually fail to address this issue? Perhaps it's because pay TV had a captive market using this model in other countries for decades before it came to Australia? In 2012 we have technology which can deliver pay per view, we have the internet, we have 3G/4G communications. I am a fan of ABC's iview and have watched games on Bigpond (albeit on delay). Foxtel already employs all these innovations so this whole tiered pay TV concept belongs to another era. My circumstances mean I don't watch much TV and sure don't need 24 weather, mind numbing re-runs or Fashion TV piped into my abode. I would however watch a fair bit of their footy channel, so Foxtel.....put up!! Surely a small return on your investment is better than none you'll otherwise be getting from me?
  5. Note for Foxtel ppl: I wont be subscribing until I can get the Footy Channel ONLY! I don't have to buy the whole menu at my local eatery and pay TV should be no different! Otherwise guess I will not watching not much footy on the TV this year with 7 being habitually crap!
  6. Not unlike >50% of the thread commentary of this board!
  7. I'm still surprised there has been no movement on this by the AFL. Imagine the repercussions of an erroneously won grand final. If it were Melbourne on the receiving end I would be leading the siege of AFL HQ. We may not like the idea of it but adjudicating must keep up with the technology available to the broadcasters or the game will suffer.
  8. Because it simply doesn't mean a lot. The fact that some randomly selected person says they support a team doesn't mean that translates into anything if they never watch games, never go to games, buy memberships or engage with that organisation. This is true but it has also been pointed out that the value of the average MFC membership is higher than many other teams and we are now getting financial value out of many MCC members who previously supported but didn't contribute $. Melbourne might never have the membership of Collingwood or some other teams so we have to be smarter which is the path we are on with Casey, China. Membership and supporter base size doesn't need to equate with success in a Salary Capped and Draft Controlled comp.
  9. My reasoning is a little simplistic but I back it by the fact that the Collingwood supporters will talk ad nauseum about CFC as long as you blow smoke up their posteriors (which pollsters are proficient at). I on the other hand never get polled after I explain my charge out rate and I know some fellow MFC supporters adopt similar routines.
  10. This poll has been discussed here before. I think the conclusion I reached from it is that Melbourne supporters are the most likely to tell cold calling pollsters to rack off and MYOFB
  11. If I was Kirk I wouldn't take my "brand" near GWS either. Given Kirk's previous role as an ambassador/employee of the AFL I expect they are 99% behind this.
  12. As God is my witness (even if I'm a bit of an atheist) the Melbourne Football Club will honour this man as he has honoured us. He is 3 days younger than me and what he has gone/going through I could not contemplate!
  13. Would be no different to players from the country or interstate comining to Melbourne and being billetted with supporters, board members, etc. so no issue. The difference with GWS is they have no supporters! I would imagine keeping players together at Breakfast Point is a strategic move to try keep them united....except I imagine most would probably vote out $cully given an opportunity!
  14. If that were true and could be proved I would think the MFC could have grounds to sue the AFL. There is a fair difference between a club constructing their affairs to advantage themselves (within the rules) as opposed to the overseer of the competition constructing things to advantage one team to the detriment of another.........oh! Hang on, silly me! The AFL has been doing that for decades!!
  15. Tom can talk the talk. He's so full of it he either has everyone bluffed or really does believe everything he says about himself. Reading between the lines it looks like he is REALLY wanting to move on. Unfortunately for him I won't be letting it go and he can't make up for his deceit of Melbourne supporters since he is going to line up against us. Frankly we should be riding the issue until he snaps.
  16. How appropriate to bring this up on a no B$ thread! I am pretty sure that this was a deliberate and calculated statement by Dimwit, not off-the-cuff. He is simply parodying the style of Sheedy to try and give the AFL's club (read GWS) some sort of relevance, profile and build some artificial passion. He can jam it! Hating the AFL and GWS is a waste of energy and we can all see through this pathetic spin. I do get offended by liars though, but that's for a T$ thread not a no B$ thread.
  17. I think that coutdown clock is RS.....1 day 29 hours to go when I looked at it! Hopefully it's the one GWS are working to?
  18. He has ready made public access, lots of hot air, is a dab hand at the cheap shot and loves a threat (mostly meaningless). No amount of huffing and puffing by Ed will stop GWS from getting a Collingwood player if they're pay over the odds for them. I couldn't care less if GWS do or don't. A pox on both their clubs/franchises. As far as I'm concerned Eddie is just giving oxygen to GWS which should in fact just be left to die a death before it sends a foundation club broke.
  19. Reminds me of the Crikey banner "now with extra sauce". I think that's where it's at now with a lot of Journos. Thinking logically the whole notion that Sanderson would walk from the Crows a month after being appointed is preposterous. Journos should be fined (like a speeding ticket) for these inane tweets.
  20. Round 10 1988 v Collingwood @ Waverley We won by a couple and it sealed the deal for me of good triumphing over evil!
  21. I think you're giving Allen too much credit. He just waved a big fat cheque book. Money is the elephant in the room when $cully starts waffling about "playing finals", "building a club", "opportunity" and being "courageous" (I can't believe he said that about himself!). He will continue to colour it the way he needs to but his Dad's appointment was the exclamation mark on his and his families real motivation.
  22. I'm taking a different tack on this. I've upgraded to a 16 game membership so I can watch all of our Melbourne games & planning on travelling interstate to 3. I of those will be on FTA. I'll miss 1 which I suppose I can see at the pub. I'm only semi-interetsed in seeing other games and some of Fox Footy's shows but until someone at Foxtel wakes up that there is money to be made from people who want ONLY the footy they wont be getting any from me.
  23. I don't think there is any need for an official response unless someone is defamed. Denhams rants ATM are brain farts, they're not even creating a ripple anywhere except here
  24. Well he shares an office with Patrick Smith so that in itself would be enough to make you want to end it all.
