  1. Reading some of the comments in this thread make me wnat to poke my eyes out. I only hope soem of it in jest. Before questioning the recruiting of Jack, where he shoud be taken etc. consider the following: Recriuters are not idiots and we were never going to be able to bluff on him. He has been in the system for years and has already been targetted by Adelaide. Jack is worth whatever pick we are forced to use on him, not the one we would all like to take him at. Other clubs are already colluding to ensure we take him with a high pick, fact! Who in their right mind here would seriously say we should pass on Jack with the prospect that as an early developer he could be tearing us a new one in 12 months What if we did pass and ended up with a slow developer (Jack Watts, Cale Morton anyone)? What sort of fallout do you think there would be from the supporter base if one of the last two sceanrios happened? We're gonna have to take Jack with pick 2 or 3 (the way we are going at the moment). We need to get over it.
  2. I say that in the context of my belief that Bailey was the wrong man for the job (appointed by the previous admin. as you would know). That our FD and players have not had, never had, the resources they needed to be competetive, let alone win a flag (all credit in hindsight to Danners). I do have a grasp of what it is that Neeld is trying to do. The moment any improvement inexplicably goes backward I'll be as quick as anyone to ask why? All I can do is give financial support and go to games. I don't have all the answers but I do know and understand we were about "everything except football" but still some people would like us to go straight back there! Go figure?
  3. This is the sort of hysteria that see's organsations go to water and fail. Why the seige mentaility? It's just been the most upsetting 6 months in this clubs history since Norm Smith's departure but we have many, many things pointing in the right direction. The last thing you would expect to come good is the on-field performance and this is the real source of angst for yourself (and probably Fan), not governance, so I suggest we stop pretending otherwise.
  4. We all have at some stage, and with reason. Your thoughts are simialr to mine. Cale is clearly one of those bokes who is responding well to a role and the structures which we didn't have in previous years, as was indicated by him looking like a headless chook and not knowing what to do with the ball in hand before this year.
  5. In 12 monsth Wojinski will be an Ex AFL player and JV wll be on his way so it's a moot point.
  6. Hard to disagree with those but maybe sub Martin (if fit) or Fitz for Sellar instead of Watts. I really don't think one week out after 42 weeks in is enough for Jack fully comtemplate where he is at. I'm pretty angry about Sylvia. I was against his coming straight back without some evidence of form at Casey.
  7. That's it Jaded. The resignation of Chell from the board, Jim taking on the football director role when he wasn't well, the fact the admin was coming to grips with Bailey not being the right man, Bailey's insecurity, the inability of our on-filed leaders to stay out of club politics all lead to a perfect storm. No one person was to blame, only an idiot would suggest otherwise. I've really got no interest in what happened last year except that we learn from it and it is hopefully never repeated.
  8. Wow! What a a read. As Mick Malthouse said a few weeks back we were really about everything "except football"
  9. If there is even a wiff that he would look at coming back to Victoria then we must have a serious crack. As an aside, does anyone else see the irony in Dr Who having a crack at our 'old culture' whilst adopting a pseudynom form a 1960's BBC sci-fi character. What a hip cat! Tells me he is a troll, just not a clever one.
  10. I heard Walls when he said that. It really annoyed the shite out of me! As someone who follows and watches the MFC week-in and week-out 186 was the exclamation mark on a development program going nowhere. Walls reckons the fact we won more games each year under DB was THE indicator we were tracking in the right direction. Makes me wonder if Walls ever closely watched any Melbourne games?
  11. If you were paying attention tonight you'll have noticed that Nathans game was no different to any of his others. First hands on the ball, trying to break into space or get it to teammate in better position. The difference tonight was he had teammates in support, was able to find space from some stoppages and when forward early on was able to show his real value by kicking two very classy goals, proving that he doesn't try to do "too much" and is in fact a capable footballer. Your opening post is still rubbish.
  12. Funny how the AFL's MRP wants to punish for the injury now but apparently a few years back Stephen King kicking Jeff White in the head was A.OK!!
  13. Yep, three days after mine so I'll remember it every year from on here on in as well as how blessed most of us are to have those 'extra' years.
  14. God there is a lot of rubbish spoken on this forum. If Nathan Jones has a problem it is the ineptitude around him!
  15. He is seriously bad. The fact he got the gig at 7 shows where their coverage is at. Amateurs and circus clowns!
  16. Wonder what's happened to our Asian connection? Terrific effort by Opel if they have got on board.
  17. Not interesting at all in my opinion. The suggestion we knew we would have a bad year and then the implication that we might position ourselves is pure fiction and typical Herald Sun fodder (i.e. when there's no news, mine for it or make it up). Fact is we lost a key member of our midfield for which we have no replacement. Why therefore would we sit on the compo picks given the relative young avg. age of our list and given one 1st rnd. pick is likely to be committed for a FS?
  18. Must have been an ugly thing! The highlights package on the cub website went for less than a minute for 2 goals. Interested to hear KC thoughts on MFC listed players? I'm seriously concerned that there were no standouts except for Tom C.
  19. If you can graft Sam Blease's legs onto I'm all for it!
  20. That's an OHS issue FCS. Mind you it wouldn't surprise me that on planet AFL employees are responsible for the consequences of an unsafe workplace!
  21. The Gardiner board revealed the extent of our indebtedness accumulated over years and years. They didn't have a plan to eradicated the debt but they didn't "nearly bankrupt the club". I also disagree that they hired Bailey because they thought we were still a flag chance, we were appalling in Daniher's last year. Everyone knew we would most likely have to bottom out.
  22. I hope this doesn't deteriorate into yet another discussion about the list or the coach. This is big picture. I don't read MM's comments as designed specifically to protect Neeld. I think the issues at the heart of MM's comments are probably tied into the fact that Melbourne had an under resourced FD which was in part (maybe even list management & game style) being managed at some level from the front office when the job of the front office should just really be to put everything in place and then be hands off except for 6 monthly or annual reviews of the people doing the jobs there. I reckon if you asked MM what a football club is this is what he'd tell you. His comments I think are a point he's making directed at McGuire that you don't MEDDLE in the operation of a clubs FD as Ed did in getting his mate the coaching job there.
  23. Correct! NSC is way off the mark again. The problems this year are entirely different to last years set of problems. Last years problems included the poisonous issue of T$'s future. It was felt by every supporter so God only knows how it effected the FD and players? This years problems are around a changed structure and game plan, we are also down one mid (albeit half-injured, half-hearted) because of that blokes self interest.
  24. Given his moniker "Norm Smith's Curse" I think it's given! FD not doing much better choosing to ignore Thompson and Jolly who have both gone on into obscurity.....not
  25. No mate, we're just crap. We shouldn't be tanking anyway. We clearly are no good at that either!
