The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan
Bombay Airconditioning replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
What about against Port? He plays well against weaker opposition and struggles and against better opposition, it’s been the case for a while. -
I understand this, I think we could beat them week 1 of the finals if we were to finish 4th. If this was to happen and we were to win then all our games would be at the G.
-
I have us beating GCS, Sydney and GWS. Obviously the recent losses to the Saints and Cats hurt so top two is unlikely. But I can see us finishing 4th. Richmond can beaten, yes they are a good side and put sides away but have been beaten when challenged this year. Would love a qualifying final week 1 against them. Hopefully by then Hibberd and Viney are back and have a couple of games under their belts.

What do all the people bagging Frost think about Hogan’s and Petracca’s game?
-
Suns just beat the Swans, no excuses tonight. We are either good enough and want it more or we’re not.

Who do we realistically target for a trade?

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 17
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Beat the Saints and we’d be sitting second, possibly 4th after tomorrow’s games. -
If we cant beat some of cats/swans/eagles/Giants then we are purely making up the numbers.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 16
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Blaming the conditions for the easy missed shots on goals, yet they were the usual suspects. Lucky it was only Freo. Should be 2nd on the ladder. -
What is with the rotation of Hogan and TMac. Just leave TMac deep forward and Hogan playing predominantly between the arcs.
-
Our tackling has improved, we are stopping players from disposing of the footy mid tackle. Having said that stop the bloody corralling.
-
He obviously copped a rocket. The easy misses hurt.
-
Yes that’s another one.
-
You don’t get, I have a problem with where he’s getting played. Just as I have a problem with TMac starting on a wing.
-
Hogan still in All Australian form anyone?
-
Playing with 3 tall forwards and turning it over at CHF when our mid size forwards aren’t marking it.
-
Obviously we can still win but the question remains how are we even in this position.
-
Don’t think I’ve ever seen Hogan take a pack mark.
-
Will be watching from the couch. Looking forward to Petty’s debut and better use going inside 50. Can we also just leave TMac as the deepest fwd all game.
-
Hope he plays well and holds his spot.
-
I’d prefer TMac play permanently FF, but when Hogan is playing deep we need to kick it so he can run on to it, that’s where I believe he most dangerous. Rather than have him camped underneath the high ball every time.
-
He can’t take big pack marks. So why is anyone suprised when we constantly bomb the footy in he’s not influencing the game. If he’s playing deep kick it accordingly, play to his strengths. Having said that it doesn’t mean he still can’t crash the occasional pack.
-
Didn’t he do that earlier in the year? And there’s nothing wrong with his or Peteacca’s confidence.
-
Back him in to respond.... not playing as a deep forward but playing up the ground as I mentioned in my above post. But I’d also back dropping him. Players are ultimately judged by how they perform in finals or in our case playing against better performing sides. The constant beating up on weaker sides by him or the team as a whole count for nothing when we continually lose when challenged. We have the talent to beat anyone this year but we don’t have the collective mindset. On Friday night it was easy to see those that wanted it. Rd 18 v Geelong Rd 21 v Sydney Rd 22 v West Coast Rd 23 v GWS Those four games will tell us where he is at.

Brereton did a piece on Fox about Hogan playing as a crumber and not contesting in the air. We need to play to Hogan’s strengths and pack marking isn’t one of them. The constant bombing of the footy inside 50 made him redundant last week. In some situations it’s the only option, regardless leave TMac permanently deep forward and let Hogan roam up the ground where he is better suited.
