Farewell Jesse Hogan
The funny thing for me is that we still havenât had any official confirmation, the closest thing we have had was Chook in Perth posting last night (and no disrespect intended because we all appreciate his mail but that didnât really tell us anything that we werenât already thinking). Watching the pack mentality change a couple of days ago from the morning âGoody said heâs stayingâ to the afternoon âwhere thereâs smoke thereâs fireâ..... I would much rather read posts from people who can think for themselves, think outside the square and donât continue to run with the company line on every bloody post they make. Whats also funny is the posters who continue to run with the - Hoganâs a gun / a star. - He had a form slump. - It was the midfields fault Or one of my personal favourites.... - Weedâs only played one good game. When these posters were presented with constructive counter arguments and examples of where Hoganâs game was found wanting, quite often there was no response. And theyâd have us believe weâre the ones with the problem, weâre not the real supporters.

Dylan Shiel
Missed it by that much....

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Reading this thread there are a lot of posts with âwhat happens if player X goes downâ. There are 18 clubs and not enough talent to fill the lists. Three KPF is a luxury that cannot be held forever. Losing Hogan still leaves us with 2. With regards to injuries, what happens if Ben Brown or Jack Reiwoldt (theyâre getting Lynch so not best example) goes down.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
We all knew Freo would come, would like to know if the club has offered Hogan a contract extension. But if the FD has moved on from him after weighing up potential trades with what we would get in return for him, they then set about doing it with as little disturbance as possible, offering him something modest citing keeping the list together, knowing their offer would fall well short of Freoâs. I still believe if we get 2 x first round picks they could be split and packaged up for May and another ready made player.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Heâs played 20 games, he showed a lot rd 22, 23, elimination and semi.

Who would MFC take if given a top 10 pick in 2018 Draft (via Hogan trade)?
It is exciting, several weeks ago we a realistic chance of not making finals and no first round pick. The emergence of a couple of players and the team evolving as a whole has flipped that on its head.

Who would MFC take if given a top 10 pick in 2018 Draft (via Hogan trade)?
Purely a trade scenario, a pick alone may be enough, with regards to what pick Iâll leave that up to the FD.

Who would MFC take if given a top 10 pick in 2018 Draft (via Hogan trade)?
Then we could look at Whitfield/Kelly or similar. Just a suggestion to look at what could happen should we be proactive.

Who would MFC take if given a top 10 pick in 2018 Draft (via Hogan trade)?
Jetta May Lever Hibberd Frost Salem Brayshaw Viney Shiel Petracca TMac Melksham Hannan Weed ANB Gawn Oliver Harmes Bench Pruess Fritsch Spargo VDB Changes from the Prelim : Fritsch - Jones Shiel - Lewis Pruess - Tyson May - Oscar Lever - J.Smith I would like to add that I do rate Oscar and think heâs developing nicely and played well this year but someone has to miss. I think itâs time to move on from Jones and Lewis, yes they contributed as various stages throughout the season but 0 tackles from your captain in a losing side says a lot.

Who would MFC take if given a top 10 pick in 2018 Draft (via Hogan trade)?
2 top 10 picks for Hogan, we then split them 1 pick + player for May 1 pick + plus future pick for Shiel or similar There is no reason something like this couldnât happen. Think big and get it done.

Thanks Cameron Pedersen
Thatâs a great point, I think he was standing in the race congratulating the players as they came off the ground after the elimination final against Geelong.
-
Thanks Cameron Pedersen
Loved his endeavour, loved watching him play. Most definitely got the most out of his himself. Took some massive marks and Iâll never forget that goal from the pocket.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
They should have 2 picks after the Neale trade.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
If we were to get picks 4 & 5 (I think thatâs what Freo will have) could we not then split them up with other picks/players and land May and a Mid. We need to be creative and go hard.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Whatâs this âdown on formâ garbage, why canât people say he was beaten on the day by a better opponent or team structureâ? Its like âHe was in AA form at the half way point of the yearâ or âheâs a gunâ then a few games later âheâs still developingâ or âheâs about to peakâ, which one is it? The in comment now is âWeedâs only really had the one big gameâ, weâll at least he has stood up in big game for us.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
For arguments sake letâs say we are only going to play two key forwards next year. TMac is clearly our no.1 fwd option so letâs compare Hogan to the Weed instead. Itâs hard to compare numbers (ie goals scores) when Hogan has played 71 games to the Weedâs 20 so letâs look at key criteria for key forwards. - Contested marking in a 1 on 1 situation - Contested pack marking - Set shots on goal - Ability to perform in big games - Aerobic capacity - Defesive pressure I would have Hogan ahead of the the Weed in 2 of those categories, contested marking 1 on 1 and aerobic capacity. In another year or two the Weed will have developed his body more and be able to hold his own more. How goid will the Weed be with another 50 games behind him. With regards to shots on goal I didnât bother looking at goals - behinds ratio because unless Hogan is near directly in front he looks to pass it off. I understand we have a team rule that at times players always look to pass to someone in a better position. Key forwards at crucial times in games need to be able to go back and earn their money. His set shot routine needs work and heâs joined the list of players who snap the ball around their body when 15 metres out on a slight angle. This was started by Stevie J but continued by players who lack confidence. Rd 23 v GWS Weed slotted one straight through the middle from deep in the pocket. And as I and others have stated many times for all of the goals people keep telling us heâs kicked they fail to mention how he continues to go missing in big games, itâs no longer a one off but a trend. As for the recent Goodwin statement that Jesse loves Melbourne and is a required player, that comes with the âbut weâre only going to offer him this much becauseâ - Rd 22 through to the semi we played better without him. Same as last year against Adelaide and the Eagles, there is definitely something to this. - He still has areas of his game he needs to work - He no longer has us over a barrel with Weiderman coming along nicely. - With a lot of our players finding form we have to fit them all in Calls for him to play down back are a cop out, we still need quality mids, use the picks to booster that area. Although we got shown up by West Coast, our 4 weeks prior to that was good enough to beat most other teams.

2019 Membership
Out of interest Lucifer, which bays are the reserved seating for Redlegs? I have an unreserved Redleg membership and normally sit Level 2 M3-M4 but I think I can sit anywhere from M1-M4. Cheers

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Just reposting this in the hope some others might get some context on Hogan, his goals for the year and his inability this year to influence certain games.

Pies Gone Past Us ??
I posted this in the âother prelimâ thread. They finished 4th after round 23 after beating only one side in the top 8 and that was us. In the finals they fought hard in week 1 but lost, won an ordinary game in week 2 and the played the game of their season on Friday night. Effectively and this isnât sour grapes, one great game for them into the GF.
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
Some big marks taken last night on the end of some ordinary disposal from both teams due to the pressure. Didnât see any supporters blaming their respective midfielders.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Very lucky indeed, if the FD did worry about the opinion of the âso called manyâ we would already have Hogan signed up to a 10 year deal worth 1.4 million a season because apparently he has no flaws in his game and is the best young forward in the game. Luckily the FD understand that he doesnât have a complete game and such a move would affect our decision to retain other talent.

The Other Preliminary Final
How many members for Richmond next year.

The Other Preliminary Final
Games over, Iâm just watching now to see the faces of the Richmond players after they lose.

The Other Preliminary Final
Only top 8 side they beat all season was us, and that was before we clicked. They went over West with a plan and fell short, they were bloody ordinary last week. Tonight they have simply beaten Richmond at their own game. Manic pressure, move it fwd at all costs, next thing the ball bounces your way and youâre looking like millionaireâs. I still think whoever wins tomorrow wins the lot.
