  1. Can't see Shaw being around for our next flag tilt, and can't see him being any sort of positive influence on a cultural change so really he may make us slightly more competitive right off, but could risk our cultural development. imagine Heath arguing with Chip or Garland on field infront of the raft of young players we have.
  2. Nupp, they're miles away from being a serious finals contender, they have very few key position players of any quality, we're closer to a flag than they are.
  3. I still think the best outcome for us involving pick 2 is pick 2 for Adams and pick 10 pick 10 for Matt Crouch. that's two hard nuts who fit our needs as a club exactly, two quality young mids for pick 2 is as good as any offer we're going to receive and both Adams and Crouch I rate ahead of Aish.
  4. Yeah that's a good point, seen quite abit of Schareberg this year and I rate him as the best player in the draft purely on talent and potential upside, reminds me a little of Adam goodes when he plays up the ground, but is also like a Mackie across half back wouldn't cry if we draft him at pick 2, especially if Roos feels he can get much more output from guys like Trengove and co
  5. Any news on this situation? I loved Cols year for us, his most consistant to date and really has something to build on under Roos, might well miss out on his best football if we don't manage to keep him on. Col is as important to us as anyone at this point, losing a mature mid and what experience we have would be disastrous for us, especially considering the talent this bloke has.
  6. Optimistic hypothetical, but who would you take if we were in a situation where we offered pick 2 and were offered Rory Sloane, or Tom Rockcliff or David Swallow for mine i'd take Tommy Rockcliff, he has captaincy potential, inside outside mid, good skills, the right age to suit our list perfectly. Rory Sloane would however get serious consideration, toss of the coin between those two really.
  7. 1. would absolutely love Tom Rockliff at the Dees, know him personally and I can tell you 100% the fact we haven't won a lot recently would to him seem like more of a challenge than a deterrence. Pick 2 for Tom Rockliff and pick 25 2. Jeremy Howe, James Frawley, Jesse Hogan and Jack Viney would be my only untouchable players for the MFC, Jeremy howe gets his output questioned on here and perhaps rightly so but the thing for people to consider is like a lot of our players this is a highly talented young man who has played just over 50 games and is playing out of position. I for one would not like to be the defender who had to play on Jeremy howe ( who won our goalkicking this year, mind you ) when the teams other three best defenders are on Clark, Dawes and Hogan. Wouldn't even take pick1 for Jeremy howe, the kids upside is almost limitless, and he compliments our forward line perfectly, and he is loyal as a dog, he would bleed for the MFC, whack him on a half forward flank in 2014 and watch him fly away under Roos.
  8. Freo by 25 weather looks like being [censored] which suits Freo imo, Hawks rely on fast movement and great skills. Freo's structure is amazing and they have already beaten Sydney and Geelong at Geelong this finals series, they will have no fear of Hawthorn Hawthorn seem to get nervous or something in big finals, which is understandable but if they don't bring their A game they will get blown away by the in form dockers Aaron Sandilands for the Norm Smith, feel he will dominate the ruck to such an extent, Fyfe and Mundy getting first hands on the ball and getting it down to a Fresh Pavlich could be the difference in the game.
  9. Might as well draft Raph Clarke while we're going.
  10. Pick 2 - Adams & pick 10 pick 10 - Matt Crouch pick 18 - Nathan Freeman pick 20 - Zak jones pick 21 ( FA comp) - Shane Savage & 33 pick 33, Jack Fitzpatrick - pick 18 ( freo ) pick 38 - Lloyd Perris pick 54 - Brady gray
  11. so we still have if you believe the rumours, Kennelley ( development coach ) Stone and Simpson or Burns to come on board.
  12. Is it at all possible given he had a decent year, the failed PP bid coming into consideration quietly and our lack of success and him being one of the only older players in the team, we might be given band 2 compo?
  13. I find it very amusing listening to Sydney supporters [censored] and moan about how Roosy is a poor quality guy and coach now that he's at another club, they seem to forget he was a big part in why they're successful now and that he got them their first flag in 74 years.
  14. My ideas are just based on history, i'm not sure I can remember anyone putting talks on hold this long and staying, I get that it's a big call for him though, probably his last real contract and he has a right to take his time, and my preference is certainly for him to stay.
  15. It's as simple as if David Swallow is on the table that's where pick 2 is going imo pick up Swallow for pick 2 lose Sylvia and gain pick 21 as compo trade that and Mark Jamar for Taylor Adams with the threat of PSD pick 20 - Zak Jones pick 38- Anthony Miles DFA - Daniel Cross, Mav Wellar, Darren Jolly team suddenly looks very different.
  16. I desperately hope there is truth to this rumour and we do get Swallow.
  17. Might not be the worst thing, if he is taken early and a Freeman or Crouch slips through to us I won't be crying, I doubt they will though, I reckon we'll be right with 20
  18. Working on the theory we lose Colin Sylvia, and gain pick 21, band three compo would pick 21 and Mark Jamar be enough to get the deal over the line? keeping in mind the threat of PSD if he nominates us we hold all the cards.
  19. Really interested to see what a good coach can get out of Wattsy, might be a totally different player in 2014, along with a few of our players. the talent is there, now comes down to how quickly Roos and co can extract it.
  20. Well my source clearly has no idea what he's talking about would much rather Simpson than Dew, I think he'd be a fantastic influence on our midfield.
  21. For me Kellys real weapon is his endurance running, a little bit like Tom Scully, but that endurance won't be a factor at AFL level, Aish is classy, skilful and makes things happen but he is a little slight and might take a couple of years to get his body bulked up and stuff.
  22. Kids going to be a superstar, I have absolutely no doubt about that, if he wants more opportunity and to be closer to his brother pick 2 would be on it's way to the gold coast imo.
  23. it seems like they're confident he'll stay on, the fact we can match offers is handy, I reckon he will find himself on nice coin either way and he deserves it.
  24. Bahaha mate, our team went for lengthy sequences without the ball, can't really blame Jimmy for that!!!
  25. Jimmy Toumpas could very well be our best mid in three years time, the kid was rated as pick 2 by most recruiters and some even had him pick 1 at various stages, the pace will return when he gets over his hip troubles, if you watch footage of him in the SANFL he has a good yard of pace, and is very damaging against Men
