  1. It's very difficult to judge the two players when you consider the differences in structure and overall team quality, When Jack Grimes was drafted it was noted that he was a beautiful kick of the football, perhaps he looks like he has bad skills because the team is constantly under pressure and no one up the ground provides a decent option? having said that Heath Shaw has been playing that role for a lot longer and is widely respected as being very good at it so he would still be a better player in my view. can't see us offering pick 2 for Shaw and a pick, Roosy isn't that silly. and Collingwood don't have pick 10 unless they trade for it, that's the part of the news report that tells me it's crap, they have pick 12 and potentially pick 13-15 if Dale Thomas leaves and they don't pick up a free agent.
  2. that would be pretty handy if it happened.
  3. we should offer pick 2,20 and fitz for fyfe? give them something to think about.
  4. He was a commentator last year? he can speak fine, very highly regarded by both Ross Lyon and Paul Roos, been involved at successful clubs, already knows paul roos game plan/ how to implement the bloods culture, there is a pretty strong argument for him to at least be considered as an assistant.
  5. Freo I think could get very involved in this chase yet.
  6. I still think Brett Kirk could be a darkhorse for the position, would love Simpson but wouldn't be at all surprised if Kirk got the gig.
  7. Not a rumour but my god I would love if we got our hands on Nat Fyfe, I reckon i'd prefer him to any other player in the comp besides Gary Ablett to be honest.
  8. He was a Dees supporter growing up... but right this second he has the largest offer ever made to an AFL player sitting on the table, infact 1 mil more than the previous largest offer if you believe reports, he will go to GWS because it will secure his financial future and he won't get that sort of offer again.
  9. Pies will get pick 13 imo as compo for losing dale Thomas, and I reckon they'll just pass that on for Adams if we don't convince him to come to us instead.
  10. Wouldn't be a fringe player for us imo, would be another mature body, some good kicking skills and brings the experience of playing in a very good side and costs nothing and has a few years left.
  11. While I don't think it's impossible for us to land Rory, i'd be surprised, for one why would the crows trade an established quality mid for a player who may become the same thing? we'd need Rory to want to come home, and so much so the crows lost hope of retaining him.
  12. I think the asking price is more of an issue than anything from our point of view, but GWS obviously felt he was a pretty serious risk to not want to add an obvious talent like that.
  13. I don't like the argument either, was more just trying to illustrate that I don't see a short or long term cultural gain that is going to come from picking up Shaw. If we did however I wouldn't be shocked if Roos turned him into a mid.
  14. I think a lot of it is just the nature of this time of year, we said we would be active this off season so every mid fielder will be linked to us at some stage haha. Got the feeling Roos will want a coup.
  15. I think Sandilands influence in the ruck will get them over the line, have $20 on him to win the norm smith and be the difference that see's the dockers win their first flag. bought a fremantle jumper to wear while watching it with 6 Hawthorn supporting mates, can only end well.
  16. Can't see Shaw being around for our next flag tilt, and can't see him being any sort of positive influence on a cultural change so really he may make us slightly more competitive right off, but could risk our cultural development. imagine Heath arguing with Chip or Garland on field infront of the raft of young players we have.
  17. Nupp, they're miles away from being a serious finals contender, they have very few key position players of any quality, we're closer to a flag than they are.
  18. I still think the best outcome for us involving pick 2 is pick 2 for Adams and pick 10 pick 10 for Matt Crouch. that's two hard nuts who fit our needs as a club exactly, two quality young mids for pick 2 is as good as any offer we're going to receive and both Adams and Crouch I rate ahead of Aish.
  19. Yeah that's a good point, seen quite abit of Schareberg this year and I rate him as the best player in the draft purely on talent and potential upside, reminds me a little of Adam goodes when he plays up the ground, but is also like a Mackie across half back wouldn't cry if we draft him at pick 2, especially if Roos feels he can get much more output from guys like Trengove and co
  20. Any news on this situation? I loved Cols year for us, his most consistant to date and really has something to build on under Roos, might well miss out on his best football if we don't manage to keep him on. Col is as important to us as anyone at this point, losing a mature mid and what experience we have would be disastrous for us, especially considering the talent this bloke has.
  21. Optimistic hypothetical, but who would you take if we were in a situation where we offered pick 2 and were offered Rory Sloane, or Tom Rockcliff or David Swallow for mine i'd take Tommy Rockcliff, he has captaincy potential, inside outside mid, good skills, the right age to suit our list perfectly. Rory Sloane would however get serious consideration, toss of the coin between those two really.
  22. 1. would absolutely love Tom Rockliff at the Dees, know him personally and I can tell you 100% the fact we haven't won a lot recently would to him seem like more of a challenge than a deterrence. Pick 2 for Tom Rockliff and pick 25 2. Jeremy Howe, James Frawley, Jesse Hogan and Jack Viney would be my only untouchable players for the MFC, Jeremy howe gets his output questioned on here and perhaps rightly so but the thing for people to consider is like a lot of our players this is a highly talented young man who has played just over 50 games and is playing out of position. I for one would not like to be the defender who had to play on Jeremy howe ( who won our goalkicking this year, mind you ) when the teams other three best defenders are on Clark, Dawes and Hogan. Wouldn't even take pick1 for Jeremy howe, the kids upside is almost limitless, and he compliments our forward line perfectly, and he is loyal as a dog, he would bleed for the MFC, whack him on a half forward flank in 2014 and watch him fly away under Roos.
  23. Freo by 25 weather looks like being [censored] which suits Freo imo, Hawks rely on fast movement and great skills. Freo's structure is amazing and they have already beaten Sydney and Geelong at Geelong this finals series, they will have no fear of Hawthorn Hawthorn seem to get nervous or something in big finals, which is understandable but if they don't bring their A game they will get blown away by the in form dockers Aaron Sandilands for the Norm Smith, feel he will dominate the ruck to such an extent, Fyfe and Mundy getting first hands on the ball and getting it down to a Fresh Pavlich could be the difference in the game.
  24. Might as well draft Raph Clarke while we're going.
  25. Pick 2 - Adams & pick 10 pick 10 - Matt Crouch pick 18 - Nathan Freeman pick 20 - Zak jones pick 21 ( FA comp) - Shane Savage & 33 pick 33, Jack Fitzpatrick - pick 18 ( freo ) pick 38 - Lloyd Perris pick 54 - Brady gray
