Ted Lasso replied to Bedraggled Dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Really keen to see Tyson, Toumpas and Michie, three i reckon will be guns in the middle for us for a long time. -

Sorry to get off topic but how big a [censored] is barrett? never seen Tyson play... goes on a bender telling anyone who will listen how stupid we are.. i wouldn't have been upset if we swapped Tyson for pick 2, Salem looks a top 5 quality player to me as well, reckon we easily got the better of that deal but Barrett is just a bias idiot. -
It will be a fairly significant drop in pay for him to return to a Melbourne based side you would imagine.
-
Sylvia has amazing natural football attributes, just a horrible over entitled self absorbed attitude, Chunk isn't blessed with speed or a great leap or anything he is just an honest to got hard worker who would bleed for his club.
-
Col vs N.jones is a great example of how hard work trumps talent every time, N.jones isn't half as talented as Col.

Will be watching our midfield with great interest -
just put talks on hold over at Freo, good chance he won't leave but i believe we should give him an offer he can't refuse, best up and coming midfield talent in the comp imo

Oops i didn't realise that, oh well the four on my bench wouldn't change, just add Strauss and Clisby as subs -

Cross and Michie as interchange, Matt Jones and Evans as subs, simply because the way i'd use it is to make first sub at half time and second at 3/4 time if there are no injuries, Matt Jones could play a half and evans a burst for a quarter. -

Alexis Georgiou James Frawley Lynden Dunn Jack Grimes Tom McDonald Dean Terlich Jack Watts Nathan Jones Bernie Vince Jimmy Toumpas Cameron Pedersen Sam Blease Max King Jeremy Howe Jay Kennedy-Harris Jake Spencer Dom Tyson Jack Trengove Daniel Cross Viv Michie Michael Evans Matt Jones that's the team i am predicting based on the squad, will be very interesting to see how the subs are used, personally i hate the idea of two subs midfield looks alot better and more importantly much deeper. -

Ted Lasso replied to Bedraggled Dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
There is a bigger picture than one NAB challenge game, we are developing Watts as a midfielder and from what i have seen he will be very handy in that role, Pederson, howe and Fitzy will play forward and as Roosy said it's not as much about winning the games as being competitive and having little wins -
Sorry it was a typo, play frawley at CHB and let Mcdonald develop deeper.
-
Not really related to Chip's contract as such but given there is no certainty around him being here next year would a consideration be made to pushing him to centre half forward and really getting some development into Tom Mcdonald on the bigger forwards incase he leaves, frawley is damaging enough when he can run with the ball to play CHB imo

What are your feelings towards each opposition club?
Ted Lasso replied to P-man's topic in Melbourne Demons
Adelaide - Never liked them, but the tippett drama has pushed me over the edge, hope they never win another game. Brisbane - couldn't care less Carlton - not a fan but don't hate them either Collingwood - soft spot due to family supporters Essendon - see carlton comment Fremantle - don't mind them, can't help but respect pav and hope they get him a flag this year. Geelong - can't help but respect possibly the best team of all time. Gold Coast - going to be scary good in the next couple of years GWS - could well turn out to be the greatest mistake the AFL has made to date, can't see how they could possibly thrive. Hawthorn - respect them, but not a fan North Melbourne - can't stand these blokes thanks to damien slightly bias barrett Port Adelaide - loved seeing them knock off brisbane in 2004 Richmond - best mate supports them so abit of a soft spot St Kilda -pure blind hate. Sydney - respect a great side but not one of my favourites West Coast - really couldn't care less Western Bulldogs - probably my second favourite team, really think they are on the way to something special with a good group of draftees -
Georgiou for sure, perfect cover for Garland
-
This is true, but i think we will offer him as much as anyone else is going to offer so money is almost cancelled out, i'd say it's about chips preference, and finding a team willing to pay overs to such an extent that we won't just match the offer as he is a restricted free agent, having said that if he genuinely doesn't want to be here i think the club will let him walk as collingwood did with dale thomas and hawthorn did with buddy.
-
We are pretty lucky in alot of ways to have Garland and Tom Mcdonald backing us up, I believe chip loves the club and won't want to walk away but a huge cash offer and the promise of finals sooner rather than later would be very much worth his consideration and he is well within his rights to see what offers he gets. having said that i feel that a strong AFL organisation should be good enough to hang on to some of it's better players so it will be very interesting, not the end of the world if he leaves though.
-
Sheed, Crouch and Dunstan are all pretty one paced, not that it's a problem, there are some very good one paced players out there but ii think we desperately need some outside run and skill.
-
Wouldn't cough up pick 9 for either of those boys personally. depends who the other player is i suppose, Treloar and O'rourke for Blease and pick 9 sounds good to me.
-
Disagree, while i don't think we will make the 8 i think our forward line is one of the most powerful in the comp, need a small forward but if we break even out of the middle we are going to win games of footy. we might well finish bottom 4 but i'd hardly say it's a lock at this point, plenty of reason for optimisim
-
I'd be thinking Byrnes, Jetta, Magner and Nicholson would already have a foot out the door Taggart is abit like Michie, just watching him for casey it's obvious there is something there, worth another year under a good development group.
-
Team looks significantly better on paper that's for sure, a full pre season for guys like Trengove, Toumpas, Viney, Tyson, jones, Michie, Watts under Roos and Stone is just plane exciting, some of those guys might pick up their output 20-30% far too early to say we will be the next port adelaide but i think we can have a year abit like the gold coast did if everyone stays fit, show the football world we are on the right track and we have just as much young talent as they do.
-
The drafting efforts last year give me confidence we will get this right, really like the look of kolo- not sure how to spell it, ball magnet and leathal left foot, pretty handy inside or outside, good size, got abit of zip and very much a Paul Roos type player imo
