  1. we should have a trumpeter that belts out grand old flag as THAT will help create an exciting atmosphere.
  2. Most important players Jones Vince Tyson (our 3 most damaging players) Tmac and Dawes. With Frawley and Clark gone, they need to step up and be number ones. Hogan's played 0 games. Dawes needs to step up. Players important to our improvement as a side Hogan, Viney, Salem, Toump, Gawn.
  3. It has to be linked as it involves draft picks. I was one who was questioned the trade as Frost could've cost nothing and Pick 23 is valuable pick. I was keen on nakia cokatoo as he was suppose to be around that mark or maybe goddard, laverde. As it turns out, they were all gone by 23. We'll never know who we would've picked up but Frost, NB, OMac is a decent return on paper.
  4. First year players shouldn't be expected to show more then glimpses. Anything more is a bonus. JKH played a lot as a sub and his best game was the Adelaide game. JKH is promising but I don't think too many posters have JKH as a lock. So not sure he is overrated. My memory of Salem is actually the Port game where he did some really smart and classy things. He played better as a sub as he only had to run hard for 30mins or so. In full games he struggled but considering he lost something like 10 kgs in preseason, I thought Salem showed great glimpses.
  5. Maybe playing back was an education that Howe needed. Learning to concentrate and not drift in and out of games. Learn forward running patterns and work rate from other forwards. Howe playing fwd of centre will be more damaging.
  6. Col Sylvia is an interesting comparison. Col was a beast u18. every much as petracca has dominated this year. MFC might have to take some of the blame with lack of leadership and development. Not every player is a born leader and sets standards. Some prob the majority needs to be shown the way. Col is ultimately responsible but MFC failed him too. Tentatively waiting for 7.
  7. Swift and Sellar were highly regarded as 16-17y.o (considered pick 1-2 calibre) but fell away badly with differing circumstances or injuries. Lever missing 12 months and having no development in that time must be a concern. He sounds strong mentally but speaking from experience coming back from a knee is hard as it takes another 12 months to trust your knee or always trying to protect it. The argument seems to be Lever or Pat. MFC needs to pick the best player, not who's the safest. It's still Pat for both for me.
  8. If he is as good as Mitchell, Jobe, Kennedy (list every slow player who's good) etc . Sign up Lever. But he has barely played any midfield time to justify that comparison. I don't get how people can project that Lever will be a gun mid without him ever playing there. Lever is was an outstanding KD junior. Prob top 3 maybe 1 but how many highly rated 17yo's stock fall in their final year. I doubt Lever would've but no one can be certain of that.
  9. Good luck to the kid. Too many red flags for a pick 3. Easy pass.
  10. If you look at something long enough, you will find faults and forgot why you like that player. Jack Darling and Ollie Wines were competitive beasts. Talented but the longer you look at them, the deficiencies stood out. Darling was short. 191cm. Way too short for KPP. Also was far more developed then other kids and played bully ball. Might not translate to AFL as everyone's big and strong. + the off field the WCE peddled Ollie Wines u18's record is sensational. Again more developed and played bully ball so question marks raised. All competitive beasts who continue to improve and get better. I'm not sure why people think been developed physically early means there is little or no development left. Pat is an exciting KPP talent that needs development and his ceiling is just as high as any other kid.
  11. Yep. Depressing that we are a "bottom two team" and we have so limited list room. Odds are very low that pick 40 and 50ish will be good players let alone stars but I like those odds over Evans and Matt Jones.
  12. Definitely but none of the midfield names attached with pick 3 fills me with confidence. Lever is a highly decorated junior but played all his game as a KD and missed 12 months with a knee. Tom Swift was also a highly decorated junior. Laverde also hasn't played much in the mid. They may have the tools but with no midfield runs on the board, I find it hard to project. It's not an easy transition to HB to mid (As Strauss and Christian Howard found) Hard to say they will be class mids. So do we pick that type even if that type might not be there? Do we need a mid. Hell yes. but we need to nail a quality player at 3 regardless of size. My money is on Pat.
  13. Posters don't want McCartin at 3 cause they want midfielders. Fair enough but they aren't throwing up quality midfield options. We have Lever who is a KPP who could be an excellent midfielder and Laverde who is a utility who could be a midfielder in the future. Both haven't played a lot in the midfield let alone dominated that position. No exposed form to say they'll be what people project. McCartin is the easy choice for me.
  14. Dawes will be better as a trio rather then the main man. Howe isn't a KPP. Fitz is not good enough Gawn is a first ruck rather then forward. Pedersen was a solid fill-in but still a fill-in. Watts is a tall flanker. We need quality players. Big or small. I understand we need mids but not at the expense of a quality player/best talent available*.
  15. A lot of people have bemoaned that if Jack Darling was a little bit taller, he would be a jet. Meet McCartin Not sure McCartin is as quick Darling but if he is clearly better then the next best mid for the love of god draft McCartin.
  16. What did St Kilda gain? Keep all their draft picks in the 20's and still pick up a young tall in Membrey. They stood their ground when Swans wanted a pick while we gave up 23. It's done. Frost is a demon.
  17. Righto. Has a crack at posters for having no idea what might have happen and then throws a hypothetical of what might have happen.
  18. Yep. Sure MFC would've taken Stretch at 23 and happy to trade Frost at 30ish so net effect is the same. But that's not how it happened. Stretch was taken in the third round. Pick 23 has value. Christensen went for 21
  19. St Kilda presser. They would've looked at Sam Frost if MFC couldn't get it done. But will now look at Tim Membrey with PSD. We blinked
  20. maybe but that'll mean Viney has stalled too. I see it as he is a second year player who didn't have a preseason and didn't have a tank. He is quick, strong and has clean hands. His kicking is generally good but he did miss some targets under little pressure (lack of concentration that Roos speaks about?) He doesn't get enough ball but is that linked to his lack of engine or pure game smarts. Not sure but he is a good prospect IMO. I really hope he builds a tank and makes it as a midfield. He is different to our other MFC mids.
  21. What I don't get is Let's say we trade pick 3 for Player X tomorrow and sign Malceski as a FA on Wed. What happens then? Pick 3 is already gone.
  22. Absolutely. We are just moving down 4 spots so no way will they give up a Macrae, Bont, Stringer. Dahlaus is a good player but someone they may let slip to get a key forward. A pick 2 + pick 20? (2nd round) for Pick 6 and Dalhaus is fair considering they want pick 2. They are chasing hard and we've put a fair trade so if they don't like, we walk away.
  23. Just heard the same. Story is Hird to be sacked tomorrow.
