  1. Still scratching my head wondering how this game got away. 3.13 doesn't tell the whole story because there were countless other F50 entries that counted for zero with poor decision making or poor skill execution. I gave up counting how many times Casey hit the post I'm guessing it was 6 to 7 times including one ridiculous Kynan Brown miss from a couple of metres out. It felt a little bit like the AFL match where we simply were not destined to win the game. We achieved nothing from our weekend other than my hate of everything to do with the CFC just being taken up a notch.
  2. Do the double full stops give this dribble some alternate meaning ?
  3. Probably called it off because the only question would be - are Grundy and Oliver playing?
  4. Correct - Jefferson has kicked 21 goals this year - JVR got 36 last season You're probably right re more competition in the forward line this year - last year JVR was mainly competing with Mitch White who played higher up the field and Weid.
  5. My comment was in the context of a highly rated low draft pick not fulfilling his potential.
  6. I agree the comparison with JUH is probably the closest. Whether or not he reaches that standard is anyone's guess, but he certainly has shown some similarities in the early stages of his career. I recall looking at JUH and really wondering if he'd live up to the hype given the lack of any physical presence. He was capable of the odd mark - just like Jefferson but never really looked like making a big impact in games. Jefferson really needs to get stronger which is not great surprise - lots of gym time over summer may help just like it has with JUH who now looks physically up to competing with seasoned defenders. By mid-next season we will have a better idea of how Jefferson is progressing. Hopefully he will be starting to impact games more consistently, taking more marks and scoring regularly. Tick those boxes and he will be pushing for selection. If he is still performing at the level we have seen this season at Casey we can start to get a little concerned we have another Weid mark II.
  7. I am always a bit reluctant to drop names when not being positive but if you really must know who I think is less reliable than McVee May - great defender but he is prone to the odd Clanger kick leading to easy goals - he is also nowhere near as assured as McVee when the ball is on the ground Rivers - love him as a player and think his disposal has improved greatly this season but still can be hit and miss when he tries to pinpoint targets. His marking has improved significantly and is now taking plenty of important intercept marks to complement Lever Gus - has his moments - rather the ball in McVees hands in lots of traffic and when a quick decision is required though Lever - his kicking is not the weapon that Judd has imo nor does he run and create as well , but that’s not his role to be fair Others Bowey generally very reliable disposing Salem see Bowey Hibberd similar to the two above imo
  8. McVee is one player that is reliable in terms of decision making and execution when he has possession We have a couple of others in our back six that are capable of some costly turnovers. We also have a couple that aren’t at their best when the ball hits the ground - In this area McVee is a standout Our back six is much better with Judd in it imo - maybe he is feeling the pinch but if not he stays in
  9. Your dislike for Spargo is really getting very predictable, unfair and unwanted imo Perhaps it’s time to not say anything if you haven’t got anything positive or constructive to add
  10. Feeling a little bit pleased with Harry's 6 goal effort this morning 😀
  11. shemans will rush in cocaine oliver and beavis fricstch next week for their grand final Blow it up and post on the walls of the changeroom - great pregame motivation.
  12. There is a line here but I'm not sure I want to go there for fear of being attacked unmercifully by those not possessing a sense of humor.
  13. Unfortunately he is a half back primarily and has a few very good players ahead of him at AFL level He does have ability - he and AMW are close enough to retain their list spot - hopefully they can produce a McVee like improvement next season
  14. Dawson behind the Bont if you ask me - really rate Dawson though
  15. He can't build fitness his knee/s shot - this has already been confirmed by Goodwin. Look he is obviously a really nice fella and tries his best but let's be really honest he actually hasn't been a real force in this competition since 2019 (aside from a few brief cameos). He is 31 later this year and is clearly finding it more and more difficult physically. I would be surprised if he is playing next season which again is one very strong reason it is important to try getting Grundy to function more efficiently as a forward.
  16. Not saying you are wrong but what is the evidence of this?
  17. And Curnow had 15 disposals, 11 marks and 3 goals BB and JVR combined = 14 disposals, 5 marks and 1 goal Thanks for confirming our key forwards are underperforming.
  18. Congrats to Judd he has certainly surprised most and exceeded expectations. For me, he, along with the continued improvement of Trent Rivers have been big highlights this season. If you asked anyone this time last year if he would be the player he is today I'd say nobody would have said yes. It is good reminder to all when we assess the progress (or lack thereof) of some of our young draftees.
  19. Fair enough but I'll take performance over structure any day. ATM he is only getting selected because we do not have a better tall forward option - more a reflection of our lack of fit talent in that part of the ground than his current form. It continues to be our single biggest weakness IMO if we had any of Hawkins, Cameron, McKay, Curnow, Walker, Allen or Larkey we'd probably be premiership favorites. I haven't given up on Jefferson but realistically he is at least 2 years away from potentially impacting and never going to be a big strong contest player (more in the Fritta mold). JVR obviously has a bright future but a genuine big strong forward is still a big whole in our list IMO. That is the reason they seem keen to try to reinvent Grundy.
  20. My question - is glimpses enough? IMO he is probably our weakest link in terms of contest (chasing, tackling, spoiling opposition intercept marks)
  21. Hyperbole from these cretins as usual He knew he wasn’t going to be #1 ruck at MFC and must have felt that a reasonable time as a forward was always how it was going to be required to stay in the team when Max was playing and fit The fact is both Max and Brodie need to get better as forwards if this arrangement is ever going to deliver what was promised / expected Both have the football IQ to make that happen Suggesting someone can’t be a capable forward if they have played ruck before is insulting - there are some pretty lazy dumb forwards floating around and I think these guys have what it takes to make it work with some good coaching Lloyd loves to think bring a forward is impossible because he never played elsewhere
  22. And BB one goal , 6 disposals and 3 marks - hardly setting the world on fire as a tall key forward For the record JVR had 7 hit outs vs 1 for BB This is the reason I believe Brodie has every chance to still get back into this team and contribute at least as much as each of BB or JVR as a tall forward - he is too good of a footballer not to
  23. Based on last nights output it appears Max is a much better player getting continuity as the main ruck. I listened to the post match commentary and was a bit surprised that Matthew Richardson and then separately Adam Cooney (peanut if you ask me) thought that it would be impossible for Grundy to be an effective forward. I'm not sure I agree with that. Grundy is a smart guy and has plenty of football IQ so with some good coaching I believe he can evolve into a capable forward. Cooney was actually suggesting we trade Grundy at seasons end - to me that would be dumb because atm we have nobody ready to take the ruck role on if Max were to get injured. I'd love to see Brodie become a serious threat in the F50 by the seasons end - over to our coaches to make it happen.
