Ok so you think Fritta is playing at Casey ? If you think that much of him and others share your opinion then we won’t get anything for him in terms of draft picks Not sure your logic is that sound on this one
-
Huge and unnecessary risk imo Get our system entering F50 fixed and Fritta will pay us back in spades
-
If we want to persist with both Turner and Petty inside F50 and Tomlinson goes Young might be worthy of a list spot. I think hapless is a stretch tbh and he can kick off both sides pretty well which is rare for a KPD. If Jed Adams was showing more I’d agree he may not be worth pursuing but atm if May or Lever gets injured which they seem prone to do he might be a good back up

How many weeks did Maynard get suspended for again 🤔 It is entirely possible to hurt without getting suspended - the first instruction would be don’t shake that peanuts hand or pat him on the backside We talk a big game but the last couple of seasons I can’t remember a game where we looked to be physically intimidating - in 2021 and early 2022 we had far more mojo imo
-
Play against the filth and put him straight to Maynard with specific instructions to cause maximum hurt None of our guys seem interested in that goal atm
-
Glad the MFC is not doing that deal - way overs imo

Tairon Ah-Mu - No access for Dees NGA Talent

Are you related to Zali Steggall by chance? -
Taberner is the ideal replacement for Schache - wait a minute 🤔🤔

Do we have a good draft hand ? Sure we have a top 10 pick but that’s due to our poor performances this season and nothing more - our second round pick we gave away for a bloke that didn’t really fire a shot (we may get it back via ANB) but overall I’d say we have an ok draft hand but not one that is by itself going to reset our list For us to improve next year we need - a much improved game-plan - some luck with injury - some improvement from existing players that haven’t contributed much to date or in 2024 - some smart recruiting to compliment point one and/or fill gaps in our list (I’m not confident about this one because recently our recruiting has been very sub standard) - and finally no distractions just a unified focus list hell bent on winning a premiership

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Sydee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not sure why he is part of our NGA program if the rules are clear we don’t get access to him via draft Why would we be pumping time and resources into someone with absolutely zero benefit Do we not know the rules or do the goal posts always shift for us -
Ants can carry up to 20x their own body weight you’d think their hamstrings were pretty good right

Harry Boyd He doesn’t sound like he is desperate to play AFL in this interview- sounds like he likes the level at Norwood and concentrating on his studies which are his “main” focus
-
What does he have that Will Verrall doesn’t have at that level allowing for the difference in age/experience ? I would have thought if we are looking at a back up ruck they need to be 200cm plus
-
I’m hoping Port wins just to see what scarf Albo wears for the Prelim Finals
-
I thought scrimshaw was very good against the puppy dogs
-
Thought I was being a bit optimistic 😂 He does look like a real good one imo and would love to add him to our list Question is whether we need a pure midfielder more - he may even be capable of midfield such is his mobility Anyway I’m sure JT knows a hell of of lot more than I do 😀
-
I truly hope there is no way we recruit this bloke Please take our picks to the draft we must be able to get better value there - a big refresh is needed

Having watched the Gippsland v Dandenong final my observations Langford - good in patches but not that influential. Probably just a down day and you can see he is a talent Ah Mu - big boy and reasonably mobile not sure if that size will be enough in AFL but not with potential Mentha - looked pretty good before being injured Andrew - like his brother very athletic and has some skills worth a point imo I was probably most impressed with Alix Tarau who would be a good second round pick if available. Over 190cm mobile , good hands and doesn’t mind a bit of rough stuff.
-
He was subbed off at half time with ribs/breathing problems - perhaps a bit harsh But port have been abysmal
-
Apologies if it’s been discussed previously but what are the concerns expressed or implied by Trac about Oliver’s treatment in 2023?
-
Seems to me we are going to see (or should I say) should see quite a few leave the list If that happens can we afford to do any bundling of picks when we may need to do a major restock of talent? Not opposed to the idea but how to we fill our 44 list spots if we have limited draft picks ? I’m not seeing too many if any decent OOC players floating around that would improve our list
-
He doesn’t hate the job though The people who work there - who knows I’m sure there are some that are frustrating but I’d be shocked if he could walk into another AFL club and not find DHs and huge egos it goes with the territory I’m happy to take his grievances on face value that some things needed to change (we all agree on that) - if they do I can’t see why he wouldn’t be happy to see out what is a very lucrative contract If he still sees the grass greener somewhere else in a year or two I’m resigned to the fact he may PO but I want us to work that trade to our best advantage and preferably not to Collingwood or Carlton

Not any worse than McAdam ? Hardly a great sales pitch

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

He is a good footballer but not sure that highlights package translates to AFL level tbh Lots of dinky kicks and handballs over his head (granted many do hit the target) - personally I still think Langford is a better option if he is still an option at our first pick Reid looks more like a slightly faster version of Spargo to me -
I can understand your disappointment as I share it but tbh I think this is a bit unfair You make it sound like the team fell off a cliff after winning the flag in 2021. The reality is it won more games than any other team in 2022 and 2023 I think. Yes we lost the 4 finals but while incredibly disappointing there were some reasons. Some inaccurate kicking (all teams are guilty of this some days) and key injuries. This year was always going to be tough with losing Gus and JS before a ball was even bounced. Then to have more key players go down we were always facing an uphill battle. The reality is a few breaks go our way and top 4 could have still been possible. It is a very very even comp these days and if teams are a little bit off their game or have key injuries it has a huge impact on results. I think it’s possible for this team to bounce back into finals next year so long as we have a fully fit Trac and Oliver. Big ifs I know they will be critical to our chances. We must draft in good ball users and I hope Langford is available as he looks exactly what we need. Some smart trading would also help set us up for solid season (this has obviously been a weakness in the past couple of years with some highly questionable decisions). We need to find a solid back up for Max and some additional mid field depth. Anyone who bothered to watch Casey this season would appreciate how thin we are in the midfield. I’m still trying to remain glass half full - if the train doesn’t get back on the tracks and show signs of improvement early next season I’ll start to have my doubts then.
