Why ? And please don’t assume Jefferson will be an option because he is a long way away from being ready and frankly could easily turn out to be another Schache or Weed Wanting someone to be a good AFL footballer doesn’t mean it will happen - we have some depth down back and have now started to look like we have the makings of a half decent forward line - why change it- POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Gold Coast
- The Watch with Ben Gibson | Tom Morris
Ben Gibson needs a very long shower- The answer to our problems ….
If I’m a bombers fan that’s probably better than winning a final - and I’m not joking 🙃- An external review of the Melbourne Football Club is required!
The fact this question keeps surfacing might suggest that the demonland experts aren’t experts or are just too lazy to watch Casey matches Btw for the record I’d probably give the kid a couple of games now that our season is done - it will make him understand how much work he has ahead this pre season and beyond- Luke Parker open to move
Rate him highly but right now I wouldn’t have thought that’s a fit with what we need- Best Presser Ever!!
I’m not a big fan of that phrase either but personally I thought he sounded honest and open about the issues discussed and I believe they are serious about listening to and addressing concerns that will / have been raised. As a supporter I don’t think we can ask for much more atm- Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Assume you never got around to watching the 2021 GF ? Gus Brayshaw was instrumental in that victory And it’s clear that you totally underestimated his leadership and influence on the playing (and I suspect coaching) group- Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Reflects our lack of genuine midfield depth particularly after we lost Trac Needs to be addressed and losing Nibbler doesn’t make it any easier- Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Let’s hope the surgery goes well for Clayton he has clearly been severely limited and visibly sore - but make no mistake he has a great deal of work in front of him to regain his status as a premier midfielder in the AFL If I was Clayton I’d be making sure those around me had my long term interest and those of the club paramount Might sound harsh but my sense is the next year or two will define this young man’s future - sliding doors moment and I hope he picks the right direction Good luck- Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
According to wheelo ratings has his overall disposal efficiency this season as superior to JV and Clayton Oliver and only marginally below Trac He is better at hitting targets than many give him credit for - he gets lots of possessions in hotly contested situations and under pressure Significant loss imo- Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
Laurie apparently was doing great things in this pre season in terms of endurance running I don’t think he has the same acceleration or closing speed of Nibbler but arguably he has better disposal skills Maybe this is the opening for him - it’s being forced in a way but might be the making of the young man - we can hope- The 2024 Positives Thread
Interesting take on where our game plan might be heading Because this is a thread dedicated to positive vibes I will refrain from sharing my concerns about that 2024 light in the dark sky was Caleb Windsor by the length of the Flemington straight - can we please have a few more like him this off season- 2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Reminds me a bit of Blake Howes but a fraction taller Not sure he has the speed and elite disposal that we need but one to consider no doubt- Trade Targets
I get to watch a lot of the swans and imho he is the classic example of an AFL footballer that doesn’t do anything particularly well Personally don’t feel that’s a need we need to fill- Farewell Alex Neal-Bullen
Always comes across as a top bloke Hope all is well with his family Really undervalued member of this team Would be sad to see him leave and unfortunately I suspect we will not be fairly compensated The MFC has a hell of lot of work in front of it- Goodwin is the MAN!
Bit tough to blame the coach for abysmal skill execution which was primarily the cause of some finals losses If he was singularly responsible for the composition of our list that would be more reasonable - but I don’t think he is Our list needs an injection of fresh blood and lots of it - importantly we need players that can get speed on the ball, are creative and excellent kicks Easier said than done and they are hard to acquire but there is the challenge for our FD- Time to go Goody?
So much to unpack there and not saying it’s all wrong but the idea of Oliver as a forward just doesn’t compute - he is or was a great extractor with brilliant handball ability but he has also always been very ordinary by foot - if he was a half decent kick he’d probably have a Brownlow around his neck- Revisionist History - Luke Jackson to Freo
Sounded like mummy made all the decisions- Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
Hoping it doesn’t derail on you PF 😂- NON-MFC: Round 22
Our depth has been really tested this season and unfortunately it hasn’t been good enough That is precisely the reason I hope we don’t gift away our draft capital in the hope of a quick fix Anyone who watches Casey regularly knows what I’m talking about I agree Brisbane have had their share of injuries but I suspect they do t have the same number of key players playing injured or with poor preps - just my opinion- NON-MFC: Round 22
The best consolation for our bad run this season is seeing the glorious implosion of the bummers, Carltank and the filth I guess arrogance doesn’t win AFL matches after all- NON-MFC: Round 22
It came to crashing halt the following week unfortunately - POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Gold Coast
