  1. So why did we go and get McAdam (186cms) and Billings (185cms) I could be wrong, but we seem to be loading up on similar types when we have needs elsewhere. Hope they are confident of keeping Petty beyond next season.
  2. I get the Windsor pick but this one has me scratching my head Not sure with the existing small forwards and the addition of those two above this was a pressing need Maybe they think he can evolve into a midfielder
  3. I’d prefer to keep 6&11 thx
  4. I agree, it feels like it's more likely that WC take what has been offered by MFC which IMO is quite generous or Reid is picked by WC, and they live with the threat of him wanting to go home which despite what anyone says would be real. Noth need to build their list and one player albeit considered to be very good doesn't really help them do that.
  5. Interesting he sees himself in a similar space to LJ - tall that is mobile and athletic both with basketball backgrounds. Hopefully he is a late developer, and we can get a good return for the modest investment.
  6. I'd be open to a move back to my birthplace for $1m a year. Right now, it's not an option and therefore I'm not considering a move back. I think the $$$$ may well play a part in this - only a few would know the real situation and I'm sure none of those are posting here.
  7. Based on the little bit I’ve seen I’d probably rate O'Sullivan ahead of Curtain but have to admit small sample
  8. So would I but I'm 100% sure I wouldn't get a kick and would be subbed off before quarter time due to lack of fitness
  9. Rivers and Howes are totally different players - if you think Howes is capable of what Rivers can deliver I simply don't see that at all. Rivers is a strong unit and has become a very good intercept mark. Howes is a wide receiver, good disposal and generally good decision maker but not much beyond that atm.
  10. Maybe when he retires 🤔
  11. Fullarton and Verrall are almost clones in terms of height and weight. Will has less time in the system and was interrupted by injury in 2023 - I still hold hopes for him developing into a good AFL footballer. Both have the best ruck in the business to learn from - hopefully one or both put in a very big summer and surprise us all. Neither are really big enough to ruck against the really big boys at AFL level IMO but at least they can jump off the ground and capable at marking the ball.
  12. Is this bloke actually worth pursuing ? Seriously I don’t see the appeal tbh
  13. Based on the McKay compensation we should be getting pick 1
  14. I'm a little bit surprised this deal was done before the Fullarton one was over the line We seem to have lost our bargaining power with Brisbane now Grundy is definitely out the door Not that I expect us to offer much for Fullarton anyway.
  15. My read of all this is his manager trying to leverage the South Australia connection to pressure Dees for some additional cash in a contract extension. He is imo possibly our best contested mark - an area of the game that we don't bat particular deep in - for that reason and the fact he has shown great promise as a KPF he is must keeper. Could not give a flying about either Tilthorpe of McAdam neither of whom are any better than average AFL footballers on their day.
  16. I thought when he was interviewed after the Richmond game, he said he was really enjoying his time in the forward half. Why would he not? What is so special about being a key defender vs key forward. I would have thought playing regularly, staying with your mates, having success were most important.
  17. Thanks James I will never forget the clearance in the GF and subsequent pass to Fritta that started our charge to Grand Final Victory One of my favorites - sad to see you go but wish you success. (Unless its vs us of course)
  18. Fair enough - my point was that he has more value to Sydney @now than us because we have Max. The salary is kind of irrelevant because both clubs will/have paid that. We paid pick 25 and in my opinion the jury was still out on whether his body was still sound enough - he has proven that it is - therefore I'd still expect a pick inside 25. Time will tell
  19. Might be a bit of premature speculation there DS
  20. If we didn't get Fullarton I'd be interested in Jordon Sweet as a young promising ruck - always going to be bridesmaid to English
  21. I think that's a bit unfair - the truth is when Max was unavailable, he was first choice at ruck, and he performed well. Unfortunately trying to play two AA rucks and split their time doing what they do best (#1 ruck) just didn't really work because neither are great forwards. The Swans don't need a forward ruck they need a quality AA ruckman - enter Brodie Grundy His value to the Swans should not be underestimated. If they want him and IMO they should the Swans need to pay a fair price. Early second round is the worst we should consider fair. As an aside I'm still shaking my head over the ridiculous Pick 3 compensation for McKay - perhaps not relevant but as BT would say Woweee
  22. I would have thought Howes should be aiming for a wing spot in 2024. In order to get a chance he really needs to work very hard on his fitness this off season (see J McVee) We are pretty well set for HBF and personally I see Howes more of an outside runner / linkman than hard one on one defender. Just my opinion though.
  23. I wouldn't be surprised if they played finals in 2025. AFL seems to have a way to get things done when there is a desire to do it. They have some talent now and will load up again this year. There's no doubt they are on an upwards trajectory.
