TRAINING: Monday 14th December 2020
Interesting story - I recently watched an interview with the great Brett Lovett. He told a story about him being invited to train in pre season with Melbourne after Allan Jeans and Des Meagher had said he had no future at Hawthorn (because he couldn't run apparently - thank god they got that so so wrong) Anyway the interesting part was that he mentioned there were something like 80 guys running around - who were gradually cut down to a lucky few - he being one of them invited to stick around. Sounded like if you wanted to walk in off the street and have a kick there was no great drama - how things have changed

Player Numbers 2021
I know BBB wants to keep 50 on his back but I like the idea of him changing to 19 - the Dees have had a few decent forwards in that number over the years (Darren Bennett / Ray Biffin)

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - FRASER ROSMAN
Thanks 58er and I hope you are right and both go on to be great players and enjoy the ultimate success in red & blue I have read all the bios and I have watched a couple of full games Certainly not writing any of them off - I guess I have a bit more faith in Kossie , Spargo and even Bedford and struggled a bit with another two smalls with our first two picks JT does have some form so deserves my trust

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - FRASER ROSMAN
Not saying I'm an expert either but Laurie is not quick, lacks size and looks like a poor mans Charlie Spargo to me - please explain what he brings that Charlie doesn't Bowey looks like he has decent skills but is seriously undersized and just don't see him physically being up to AFL Rosman can at least compete in the air, looks like he run at speed and can take a mark Time will tell and you may be right - personally I hope you are otherwise we have just thrown away our first two picks and next years 1st rounder

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - FRASER ROSMAN
Based on limited vision I think he is the most likely to make it out of all three recruits I have serious reservations about the other two - just too small We already have Pickett , Spargo , Bedford - not convinced we needed another two players of that size. Hope I'm wrong but really question the strategy of trading out of next years 1st round at this stage

Welcome aboard Fraser Based on what limited vision I've seen and what I've read appears a good speculative pick

2020 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I watched Q1 of the futures game he looks balanced but didn't do a great deal in that quarter and looked a bit light physically even at that level - very short sample I know Eddie Ford seemed to go ok - surprised he isn't mentioned in the top 30

2020 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Any footage of Jack Carroll actually playing footy ? I can't find anything ?

TRAINING: Monday 7th December 2020
Where's BBB I would have thought he'd be busting to get down and meet the new lads and start his pre-season ?

Robert Flower - 20 Great Goals (can never get enough of our Robbie)
Might be a tad biased as per my profile pic but the best footballer I've ever seen in a Melbourne jumper Consistent, reliable, supremely talented whether playing for a very ordinary football team or for the cream of the crop representing the Big V back in the good old days when that actually meant something Simply the best

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Hopefully its detailed instructions on a new clever and ingenious game plan where we move the ball efficiently inside F50 - if so please ensure BBB receives a copy after you give us all the low down

Simon's pass mark for 2021?...
A pass would be a discernible and changeable game plan (when required) to stop teams kicking multiple goals in quick succession. The MFC can longer measure success by finals/ ladder positions etc. There is only one thing that we should be aspiring to - it is a premiership. As others have said we have all waited far too long. One of the reasons IMO we haven't had the ultimate success is that we seem scared to talk about that being the goal/objective. That needs to stop NOW ! From today every single person associated with the MFC should be working/preparing/thinking a premiership is the only result that is acceptable. Time to HTFU and stop making up the numbers

Jackson Extends Until 2022
Great to see LJ commit again - these young men have a great opportunity to build a very competitive team and one that can seriously challenge

2020 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Agree - also not slow, good sidestep and not a midget ?

Welcome to Demonland - Picks 18 & 19
Have only seen a very small sample of footage of Winder but can't say I was impressed at all

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
I think Robbie wore 52 then 2?

Welcome to Demonland - Picks 18 & 19
Bailey Laurie looks like a clone of Charlie Spargo - not saying either are bad players but boy they move and look the same IMO

2020 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
The Nik Cox highlights are pretty damn impressive if you ask me Very skinny but seems to have great mobility and able to kick well off both sides The only thing I find scary is that he looks a bit like a taller more skilled Cale Morton ?

MFC Trade Summary
Let’s see how things go next year I think they will finish top 4 and have another chance - I wish I could say that about us lots of improvement and consistency required for that to happen good that you have a different view tho

2020 Player Reviews: #23 James Jordon
I thought Bedford had potential to be a good small forward or even wing at a stretch but he hasn’t really been given much opportunity- doesn’t seem to get enough possessions so that’s something he will need to improve on
-
2020 Player Reviews: #17 Harley Bennell
Hope for Harleys sake and his family things work out He thought he wanted an AFL career but as it turned out that didn’t seem to be the no1 priority I hope his priorities are in the right order - hopefully if it’s not footy and family first then it’s family first and anything else a distant second

2020 Player Reviews: #16 Kade Kolodjashnij
Very disappointing hopefully things turn positive for him soon

MFC Trade Summary
Cats got Smith - he obviously saw a better opportunity to win another flag there than MFC - thats ok lets hope he is wrong Weid will have to earn his spot - CHF options include Petty and Jackson both are also capable Melksham has to earn his spot - arguable he did that every week this season Agree wing is a weakness atm Agree there is talent and potential - it doesn't guarantee success This team needs to work cohesively on a consistent basis and they need to be well coached and be able to shift gears when required IMO a number of teams will improve next year based on recruiting/trading - the challenge doesn't get any easier
