Parish is a good footballer, was always going to be. It's wrong to call him list filler. He was the safe pick... He's just not the quality of Oliver and I'm happy we took the gamble with him.

Have you met him 'old dee'?

Jake is usually on the money, the hun can be a bit hit or miss. Who do you believe? or has someone else corroborated either of these stories. I hope the Hun is right as I like to see C/wood suffer, but....

I just don't understand how the smart people in charge of the game couldn't see the holes in the NGA thing in the first place. Enough of us on here could see it... It was a dumb idea from the start.

No Excuses then lists 4... *2020 *Lost preseason advantage *Cancelled game *Cairns I always find it funny when coaches say this. There are always reasons that can be seen as excuses. When is a reason an excuse and an excuse a reason by the way.

I don't know...I'm not overly excited. I never like the idea of drafting needs.
  7. I think even Kane Cornes will like this appointment....not that we need to pass the Kane test but he is a big wrap for Williams.
  8. Experience has just walked in the building...Yze now Williams to go with Richardson. A wealth of footy knowledge and finally some real experience. It's been our weakness in the FD. edit: did I say I was excited??? you bet I am.

It was probably coming after he missed the CEO position. Then the sideways/backwards move was the last straw. Interesting though that he wasn't their first choice.

'Jimmy' me lad. The job was never done, it was half a....rebuild. Roos taking the money and running without getting his man. Jackson in some too and fro with the Prez, not able to complete his job. It was never finished.

I think Dodo must have pix...he might win. Can't see any other reason he has kept his job.

The interesting thing here is going to be a clash of philosophies. Josh likes to get a deal done and looks for a win/win. Dodo...wan't win at all cost and couldn't careless about the other party. Will it work, who's will will win in the end?

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/josh-mahoney-appointed-essendon-football-manager-20201208-p56lo8.html Says Mahoney, recently departed Melbourne?
  14. I'm not disagreeing 'Lucifer'...let's hope they keep up the good work. ...but imagine if they didn't have the father/son picks? Also think Buckley has had an easy ride with his mates in the media...might change next season if performances drop off some more.
  15. They have a great get out of jail free card in father/son picks. With another Daicos due soon and Kelly back from injury to go with Moore and Daicos otherwise they would be a mess.

Does it have to be??? If he experienced the behaviour he says he did at Collingwood and his account has been backed up by teammates then it's just not good enough. ...and that should be all that matters. What's this point scoring got to do with anything? Maybe I'm off the mark here 'Cranky', but I don't think so.

The drama was amplified by a media just waiting for the next zinger from crazy mixed up Heritier...they couldn't get enough of him, it helped build a narrative about him. There he goes again... Some of his views maybe over the top, maybe he's just trying to get his point heard. ...it doesn't change the fact that he suffered racial abuse from people who should have known better, people who purport to support their people. It's pretty obvious despite all the window dressing that in the end he wasn't one of their people. They don't respect diversity.

Good for them, but it doesn't give them a free hit. If what you say is right then Eddie should know & be better...

I'm with him on this one... I don't see any reason for an inquiry, it's an Eddie snow job. Don't want to own up, set up an enquiry and muddy the waters, a classic political ploy. Collingwood should have done what St Kilda had the courage to do and just own up & apologise.

I would think your first point is most definitely right. I'm not so sure that Russell Jackson is a left wing journo. I don't know anything about him but he has written some very good articles of late.

I read this totally differently to you. I was embarrassed about some of the opinions I had of him based on some pretty biased reporting. It reminded me of how all encompassing & powerful the AFL brand/bubble is. All the rhetoric coming from the AFL & Collingwood is just that. They/we have a long, long way to go. ...and yet you remark about him being self obsessed. Is it any wonder... I would say he's very introspective & has been trying to find his place in the world. Unfortunately he's been let down along the way, firstly by his father & then by other authority figures who should know better...Bucks, Eddie & Gill to name a few.

Just read this from the ABC site...well written, extremely challenging & eye opening. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-12-05/heritier-lumumba-strength-in-african-culture-collingwood-afl/12820942
  23. I've always had an issue with this stuff. A lot of beliefs held in sports science don't actually have any science to back them up. As seen above, when the real science kicks in they've been found wanting. In AFL land it's often follow the leader...that's why we got altitude training, hyperbaric chambers, pre season commando camps, the Kokoda track and on and on we go..........
  24. Paul Roos let us down. Left with the job not even half done.
