  1. Tiges are paying Marti a s...load, Jack's not on peanuts & they still landed Lynch plus have Cotch & Prestia on good deals. I think Merrett is a good chance to be in the red & blue
  2. I can remember 2 instances of this playing local footy. One year we were undefeated on top of the ladder after the first half of the season then couldn't buy a win agains the same teams in the 2nd half and dropped out of the final 4. The other one we were comfortable in the 4 and cruising, one of my mates took off on holidays about 4 or 5 weeks before the finals and was due back to play when we made it. He turned up on the Tuesday before with his gear ready to get stripped and train, walked into the rooms and we were all sitting around having a beer. He couldn't believe that we'd dropped out. ...so nothing is a given. I'm comfortable with where we sit but take nothing for granted.
  3. Could maybe argue the medium impact angle...as Powell played on. ...but probably just get on with it. It wasn't a good look.
  4. ...and sometimes you don't know how a trade really pans out until the end of a players career. The Kelly/Tyson/Salem pick trade is a case in point...We have been smashed in the media by the likes of Damien Barrett and even our very own 'olisik' but the balance is starting to tip in our favour. Currently I would pick Salem ahead of Kelly but lets wait and see how the scale tips over the next 5 years.
  5. It's ok 'o'...then Jackson will give Hickey a bath. Jackson was key to our resurgence in the 2nd half, we're not a one trick pony.
  6. Brayshaw was coming off a couple of great games, playing a great role for the team. Definitely not off the pace. Agree 'Jaded', we need to let him settle. The wing has been his spot. Baker is not up to it and my only guess is they wanted to have one last look at him...
  7. Back to Mitch...showed a lot of what he did with us. Missed an easy set shot which I said to my Tiges mate he would. Had some nice cameos but went missing for a lot of the game.
  8. Not a lot more petrol left in Cotchin's legs...just going at the moment.
  9. I believe he was pushed...so maybe that makes 2 of us. He didn't get the warm and cuddly embrace and looked elsewhere. ...a little like Chip, pretty much encouraged to explore his options.
  10. As for Jake, I hope he plays out the year at Casey... He's not ready for the step up yet, not strong enough to stick his tackles and gets pushed off the ball too easily. Looks like he will be a player but give him time.
  11. Hah...he (Oliver) leads the competition in contested possessions. Hardly cheap stats. He's the best inside mid in the game.
  12. He turns 31 in June this year so that means he's 32 next year. No sneakiness or fooling about it, 32 is 32...
  13. ...and Oliver at 1, we're looking good.
  14. Wow, I didn't realise he was that old... He had a great injury free run there for a while but the last few years haven't been kind. Collingwood's list is looking worse than I thought with Sidebottom on the way out and Pendles nearer the end than the start and Howey struggling with injury also near the end.
  15. Sometimes people just like to whinge about not much at all... We're winning, I reckon that's pretty good.
  16. I'm very superstitious...we've been winning whilst she's been quiet, no peeps. Let's keep it at no peeps, never tempt the fates...
  17. ...and Lever must also be a chance.
  18. Well i wouldn't call it fair 'Rodney', but having just had a look at the replay it was a cheap shot on the umpires blind side. No looks like, or alleged about it, it was a punch that landed where he wanted it to land.
  19. The old saying winners are grinners rings true. It's much more fun when things are working for you...

The thing that always gets me about this is that during the bad years our members still kept turning up. I believe we had the highest % of members consistently turning up to games, even through the Neeld years. This belies the stereotype of band wagon jumpers. Hawks supporters most definitely hold the title of biggest band wagon jumpers and those stick fat, side by side Collingwood mob are also very fickle. They drop off very quickly.

Awesome 'demonstone'! great read, that was the laugh I needed tonight. Thanks mate...
  22. With an election coming up in Tassie, I'm not sure if you are joking but this could very well be the case now. Docklands is available on Sunday afternoon so I would lock it in...
  23. He will have a place in the team, don't you worry about that.
  24. To be fair 'bin', Brian is still trying to get the players names right...I mean they only have big numbers on their backs and they all have a different gait and approach at the footy. Once he sorts this out he will then move on to rules of the game, which he still really struggles with. Then he's got anatomy...doesn't seem to be able to tell the difference between a twisted ankle and a head knock. This of course doesn't stop him from giving medical opinions that the player in question should be back on soon. So then 'bin' he can start to deal with strategy and stats...
  25. ...and Irving Azoff.
