  1. Gets caught there too often...
  2. I would give the main offender award to Hibberd 'bing', I don't think he hit a target all night. ...but it would have been a tight contest with a few others.
  3. If they're practicing it 'Earl' then I don't know what to say. A big part of it has to be confidence then...either that or they have no belief in the coach. Also, I know we're all being hard...but it was so disappointing to see more of the same, particularly in the current climate where we could all do with a lift. The players must have felt it. Imagine being so far from home and being told the competition is off, you've got the last game then you can go home. After such a big, big preseason...all for nothing and stuck over the other side of the country. ...but apart from that. Looking at what was in front of us today and the last year and a bit... They need to sort out the ball use in the middle, if they worked better with blocks and positioning rather than ring around the handball they could get the ball forward much quicker. They f... around with it, it drives me nuts. You can't have a bunch of defensive forwards who can't do much else...ANB, Spargo, Bedford. One will do and that's more likely to be Jones. Tommy Mac isn't a number one forward that's one thing, Fritsch is a floater and shouldn't have to carry the load he carried because of a poor selection in Brown who gives us nothing. He didn't want to keep his feet and provide a contest, I get why EFC let him go. Midfield again reverted to being one way runners...apart from Langdon who tried his guts out. Pity about his disposal, hopefully he can sort this. Part of it's his decision making and lot of it's his teammates letting him down. Probably rambling a bit now, much on the mind besides this. Take care 'Earl'...
  4. I'm not sure they will have a choice. Might be time to go back to a 12 team competition. We will be lucky to survive in our current form.
  5. Fritsch - Delivery crucified him...
  6. Sorry 'Sat' but Goody doesn't know more than some on this site. Spargo has to go. Hibberd is done and it's time to blood Rivers How Brown got a game in front of Weid I don't know... ...and we need to run Jackson for what ever games we have this year. Probably in place of Tommy Mac who has totally lost it. No good him hanging around when Brown gets a gig. The big out has to be the game plan, it stinks. The only thing that will save Goody is the finances.
  7. I think SEN will have to close, they have been close to it for a while and this is a tipping point. Maybe they can close up then try and re start at a later date. A lot of late night meetings going on. I've been meeting with myself for the last few weeks...
  8. I wonder why??? Surely it would be better at least for people to go outside if no one else is in their space. Maybe the density of population in some areas is the problem.
  9. I really hope you aren't serious 'Werridee', if you are you have a lot more problems that the virus.
  10. Just a thought. This could well be the last game of the year. Then it follows... If we win, we are the 2020 Premiers.
  11. Not a chance it will happen now... Ours, if we make it that far will be the last game in quite a while. I really wish the AFL had of done the right thing early and saved our players the distress of travelling at this time. Not just our players but all players, you can see their minds aren't 100% engaged in the games to date.
  12. Morrison still undecided on AFL & NRL... Will work with them, still not looking good.
  13. Beat Fox on this...will take any wins I can at the moment. ...by the way. Where is 'Ethan' the news breaker? I hope he is ok.
  14. ...and of course GC.
  15. Probably the end of the football season now. Only essential travel says Morrison. I wouldn't think football is essential, but let's see.
  16. Totally agree 'rpfc'... I think it will be a miracle if we get as far as tomorrow before it's called off. Players are not isolating themselves, I've seen selfies taken last night on Facebook (not our player but the way). ...and by the standard of the games to date it's pretty obvious that even though they voted to play subconsciously their heart is not in it. There's about as much pressure as you see in match simulation at training. That rises occasionally to the level of practice match pressure.
  17. Pies very good, Dogs no so good. Tiges arrogant and lairised, Carlton average & let off the hook.
  18. We've only gone with one ruck...must expect Max to run out the game talking of midfield rotations. Not sure Brown can ruck, maybe Tommy for a quick chop out. Don't think we will use Tomlinson there as the wing seems the preferred for him. The Pies had Grundy run most of tonight I guess with very occasional relief from Cox.
  19. He's been great... Trouble is these guys are great when they are just out of the game then they drift in with the rest as the seasons go by. Ling was good in his first year as a commentator but look at him now....
  20. This is after a sample of one game without a crowd. The same teams have played the opening game for how many years now? ...and how many of those games have been watchable? If the AFL need to pull any pin, it's the idea that this should be the opening game.
  21. Good call whether by the girls or the club, best they are safely home with their families. Would love to see them back with us next year.... https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/578468/aflw-dublin-duo-to-head-home
  22. A well considered comment...not. How about you make a constructive comment for once rather than just snipe everyone else on the site. Take what I said to pieces, do your best.
  23. I've pulled this across from the game day thread as I think it's probably more suited to here... It is a tough spot to be in but I feel they have probably taken the easier decision. Unfortunately hindsight is going to be a wonderful thing here. We can all be experts in 12 to 18 months time. To me it makes sense to put the season on hold but I can understand why it's going ahead. We're only at the tip of the iceberg at the moment and people saying it will be a mental release to watch some footy whilst right are going to have to find some resilience going forward. It's going to get a lot worse and there will be no footy. It's the goodwill that might be more important than playing now. The players voted to play 22 games, they're good footballers but not very strategic thinkers. There is no way they were ever going to play 22 games and finals... There is also no way they will be able to keep their current contracts. It's not going to be sustainable. This goes for all in the AFL bubble. SEN may well close up shop, I can't see them making it through a close down (they were reliant on this season to pull them through) and other media outlets/people will suffer. Will FOX keep paying their high priced presenters if nothing is happening, history says no. Club CEO's will take a hit, they will have to...some may retire early. Will Cook and Pert have the energy to rebuild the game. They've done well out of it but will they give back now or move on into retirement. We can kiss goodbye to the training ground/facility but then again what we have may be good enough if we make it through. A lot of the backroom stuff may go back to volunteers and elected officials. Anyway, starting to ramble a bit now. Over...
  24. That's good news... ...and as for the debutants it will be the same as playing junior footy for them.. They should be used to no crowds and pumping themselves up.
  25. I just wonder about the mental demons that come into play when you have to get on a plane in this crisis. The players have to be having some subconscious thoughts. I hope it doesn't effect game time but I fear it will.
