  1. Same as the men's team...but WC and GWS. Hopefully the same result.
  2. It's much better than that...
  3. You've got me all wrong. It's the supporters who think just making the 8 is good enough or putting in a good effort should be the pass. They're way off the mark. I'm judging the team and Goodwin on where they should be at this stage of the game. ...and that is top 4 and no less. If we don't get there then serious questions should be asked as we've now had long enough since Roos and PJ came on board to turn the ship around. Forget the win from adversity stuff, at this stage we should be up there as contenders with the Tiges, GWS and the like. I will be disappointed if we make the 8 win a couple of finals and drop out like we did in 2018. We've got to be better or it's a fail from me.
  4. Not really...we're in effect coming from 4th. ...and with a much better list.
  5. We have a markedly better list than we had in 2018. Last year was the outlier, you can't play above yourself but you can certainly play below. A list of factors conspired to give us season 2019. This is why I don't take into consideration this rubbish of only 5 wins, it's a big leap. It's actually not if we take the 14 wins plus a couple of finals from 2018 and build from there. We learn the lessons of 2019 and don't disregard them but we build on 2018. Top 4 is the pass mark for this season. Anything less is a fail...
  6. Seems to have ended up on the outer 'dazz'... Be interested to know how he went from a highly regarded football person to slipping out of the system.
  7. We differ greatly on this. ...and remember, Lyon is not coaching a club now so I expect him to be quite illuminating rather than cryptic.
  8. I think the old model worked for then but now the game is more coached than ever, for better or worse. Reckon football media is behind the times with little to no new ideas. My point is there should be at least one coach on the panel. One coach off, one coach on. Not another player. Take Nick on but get rid of one of the others. Dunstall who is no longer on the show was the pick of that bunch for mine...an astute football brain.
  9. They are only the chess pieces 'SWYL'... I would like to hear from the chess master.
  10. Anyone know where he's ended up? Was looking to coach VFL?
  11. Doesn't really understand anything from the coaches perspective. Modern day players don't have a clue what goes on in the coaches box, they only know the little that has to do with their own position. Any player that goes into coaching as an assistant says they didn't know what hit them. They didn't know the half of what goes on. Then it's another step up to the top job. This appointment is a retrograde step to my mind... The game has gone past just a couple of ex players sitting on the couch. They're going with their personality pick rather than someone with a coaching background in the modern game. As footy fans and people that take a real interest in the game, we deserve better. Brad Scott, a left field choice perhaps. I know he has a job in the AFL but the others all have jobs off the couch, it shouldn't preclude someone like him. So, if we look at all the TV footy media 9 have picked up Lyon, a good get. ...but they cancel it out with Lloyd. Right up there in the useless category. Apart from Lyon the only other coach I can think of on TV is Mathews and he's long past it, doesn't really know the players and doesn't do his homework.
  12. rjay replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is that the MCGM or MCGW???? Or could it be the MCG or WCG?
  13. Seems like the Doggies are this seasons golden boys... Don't really see it myself.
  14. I actually thought that was a good kick, his teammate was caught behind 2 opponents and Kozzie cleverly spooned over the top into space more to his advantage where he could and did run on to it. If he had of hit it flat it would have gone to an opponent in front. Smart thinking...
  15. This might tell the story... If it was a total fabrication then I would think they might be a bit more than mildly angry... They're are a weird mob at Freo.
  16. I think Rivers will be the steal of this draft...questions will be asked how he got through to pick 32. Is that a big enough lid...
  17. In the past I would have agreed with Cornes but you know what. It's time we came out and had a red hot go and put it all on the table. We really don't risk being a laughing stock as many already think we are. I agree with you 'Dee'...make a statement and back it up. I reckon we're good enough...
  18. The romantic in me would love to see Jesse back at Melbourne, clean up his act with help from his mates here and play a big part in our success. ...
  19. I try to avoid them 'Bob'
  20. I grew up in that era too 'Bob', but we don't live there now. It shouldn't be too much to expect some decent pix at least. We are spoiled with the quality 'Six6Six' posts but in reality the club should be able to post similar from the camp. Is it too much to ask?
  21. If we're talking Smith here 'bin', I think we're in trouble if he plays most games. Like Frost I think the athleticism he offers is often undone by poor decision making.
  22. Brad Hardy is looking pretty silly now...always...
  23. I don't think Carlton should open the season, they've done nothing to deserve the honour.
  24. Aren't you in I.T 'Nasher'?
  25. This has the Hardie logic about it. The only reason we wouldn't sign Bennell is if he can't get on the track... Port have so much money they had to rattle the tin to keep on the park. Can just see them shelling out for a player that can't get on the track and doesn't ever look like it (if we weren't to sign him)... ...but I guess stranger things have happened.
