  1. And look how that ended - they stopped talking to one another and Hall was shipped to the Dogs!
  2. No, No, No! Has multiple brain fades and is a very ordinary decision maker. We have enough of those!
  3. Agree with this. And I'd add one other KPI, and that's knocking off a top 4 side. We got absolutely belted by the top 4 sides this year. Freo by 11 goals and 9 goals, Hawthorn by 105 points, West Coast by 9 goals, and Sydney by 7 goals (should have been more, they were already 7 up at half time). We were never in any of those games except arguably the WCE game where we were within a couple of goals during the third quarter. These teams absolutely toyed with us. Once I see us fighting tooth and nail with these teams deep in the last quarter, I'll know the improvement is real.
  4. This is a tough one. As a player, he has everything we crave. Class, pace, skill, x-factor. Off field, he has everything we don't need! I would love to have him but Monde is right. Surely he would have known that Mad Monday is when the press would be on red alert for bad behaviour. If we do go for him, we can't spend our first rounder (pick 6 or 7) on him.
  5. Tommy was undoubtedly our best in the first third of the year but he regressed from QB onward - unfortunately, too many of the brain fades and shocking disposals that blighted previous years. I do wonder if he started to try and do too much after Cloke got the chocolates against him, he does seem to beat himself up after a bad performance. He also wasn't helped by being shoved forward for a few games. He did ok there at times but he should only be tried there again as a pinch hit or in an emergency.
  6. Vince daylight T Mac Jones Cross Hogan
  7. 30 possessions for McDonald would result in at least 10 turnovers and 6 goals to the opposition. I love his effort, his ability to get the ball and take blokes on but geez, the brain fades that he seemed to have got out of his game earlier in the year are back with a vengeance. Cost us at least 4 goals directly yesterday with just dumb errors. Nick Maxwell gave him 4th best on ground and I think he had the 3rd most fantasy points for the game, which just shows that a) Maxwell doesn't seem to care about how you dispose of the ball and uses stats to decide who's the best player and b) this obsession with fantasy and supercoach points is a complete joke when assessing someone's performance. As a team, we are complete psychos. You just don't know what team is going to turn up both within a game and week to week. We desperately need leg speed, the teams with pace absolutely cut us to shreds. Petracca is going to be more crucial to this football club that we realised I think.
  8. Exactly. When did this Hawthorn supporting mate start following them? 2008 like the rest of them?! Geez they annoy me. Particularly when they carry on about loyalty. Theirs hasn't even been tested yet, haven't missed a Prelim for about 6 years. Not hard being loyal in that situation!!
  9. His set-shot goalkicking has been the only thing that I've been frustrated with really (apart from the dropped chest mark on the weekend!). He's actually a beautiful kick so I've been surprised at how often he's missed straightforward kicks from 20-30m out. I can recall at least 5....you're always going to miss one or two but this is something he has to get better at. Unfortunately, the nature of the position is that you're always going to be in and out of the play a bit so he's going to have his quiet patches. Therefore, nailing those straightforward opportunities becomes even more important. He's been a great recruit for us though - given us pace, forward line pressure, and excitement around the ball, three things we've been sadly lacking in recent years. Higgins undoubtedly recruit of the year for mine though. What a game he played on the weekend.
  10. Agree with you on Buckley but you're too harsh on Roos. If he needs to be opinionated he will do it - witness his tirade against the industry for bagging the game at the presser on the weekend. I actually think he makes alot of sense and most of the time when he's boring it's because of the dull questions. I'd much rather he remain calm after a bad loss like he did against the Saints than carry on like a pork chop as most supporters did on this site.
  11. Very confident he'll sign. If I was him, I wouldn't be signing now. I'd be focusing on continuing his red hot form which will only help him in terms of a) continuing to contribute strongly to the team and b) getting him a more rewarding deal.
  12. The SEN Adelaide reporter explained earlier today that Tom Lynch is after a three year deal but the Crows are only wanting to give two. He said that the Dees are the club that are most interested. Had a consistent year now that he's fit and injury free after a few years in the system. I'm sure we'd all prefer his Gold Coast namesake but could be a very handy foil for the Hulk?
  13. He's not Robinson Crusoe mate! Who else gets praise on this forum after a loss?! Even Nathan Jones cops it when we lose!
  14. Far more than serviceable. Fans on this forum constantly plead for consistency, this guy is consistently good. Yes, he lacks leg speed and isn't a penetrating kick, but what is fantastic about him is that he knows his limitations, and therefore typically makes the right decisions. Incredibly reliable in the air as well. You say he should play next year and be picked on form but that's exactly what he's doing this year....and would be one of the first picked without question.
  15. We'll beat Carlton (surely?!), GWS is a 50/50 and an even better chance if they can't make finals. Dogs are too slick at Etihad, won't beat Freo in Perth....and not super confident against North but I reckon we're a chance if we put some heat on them. 8 wins is what I'm after, 9 is a bonus.
  16. The Pies are ahead on the Clark-Lumumba-Varcoe deal. Varcoe was great in the first half yesterday and has been much better for them than I thought he'd be. Heritier hasn't set the world on fire but been pretty handy and better than Clark
  17. Got nothing to do with "fast, attack-based game plans". We can't hit a target by hand or foot to save ourselves, so you can have the greatest attack minded game plan in history but if you can't hit targets, you can't move the bloody ball, fast or slow! Our game plan was fine against GC, Geelong, WB and Collingwood, because our skills and decision making were decent. Why does Hawthorn's game plan look so good? Because they make the correct decision, run to the right places to help the ball carrier, and they HIT TARGETS!!
  18. Wanted to tip us but concerned about their midfield depth. Geelong have a couple of midfield guns (e.g. Selwood) but if you tie them up, they haven't got enough others to take up the slack, particularly with Kelly and Bartel out. Meth coast have Priddis, Shuey, Gaff, Wellingham, Yeo, Masten, Selwood who are all in great form, and I think the Frenchman is going to be very dangerous in the greasy conditions....can't see the big forwards in Kennedy and Hogan clunking lots of big grabs. Still, we have to be confident after the Cats game and if we can bring a 4 quarter effort then who knows?
  19. Motlop would be a great get. What we need most is class and leg speed. You can see the difference that Garlett has made this year, and he's not half the player that Motlop is.
  20. What makes it different to Brayshaw? Er, perhaps the fact that Brayshaw had a full pre-season, or do you think that getting a fitness base in pre-season is meaningless? ANB was out from Christmas time onward due to a knee. Brayshaw only started in the magoos because he missed a couple of NAB games due to concussion. Secondly, and this is to a lesser extent than reason one - body type. Brayshaw is a bit stronger than ANB at this point in time. My point has nothing to do with your ridiculous view that I'm paranoid (nothing like Demonland posters to start getting personal when they disagree with an opinion is there?!). I'm as excited as anyone else is about seeing him debut. I just think our supporters often see or hear about one of the new draftees have a big game at Casey and decide that he has to be rushed straight into the team. Granted, he's played well for a couple of weeks (and in the development league prior to that) but he needs to do it for a bit longer - guys like Billy Hartung at Hawthorn had to knock the door down to get selected, and I'd like to see ANB play a few more good games before being selected. You're entitled to think otherwise but I won't label you as being paranoid or anything else for having such a view! And my mistake re: Roos' comments about ANB in his presser - it was actually in Roos' views but it doesn't matter, the point is he said he'd rather give him more time at Casey.
  21. Guys, ANB won't play - Roos said as much in his presser, and I was pleased to hear it. Seems our supporters have this obsession with promoting new draftees as soon as they have a game where they've had 30 touches - have we not heeded the lessons of years past?! Let him develop for a while and continue to build consistent form at Casey so that he's well and truly ready later in the year.
  22. Yarran and Carlisle are both teases - they do some exceptional things but all too rarely. In Carlisle's case, I just worry about his lack of football nous, because he should be taking 8-10 marks a game with his talent. He makes alot of silly errors. You might argue that Garlett is inconsistent too but even the best forward pocket types have quiet games, it's the nature of the position - and in fact, Garlett's been incredibly consistent this year (perhaps too consistent in missing at least one soda a game that he should kick with his eyes closed!). I'd rather we go all out for a midfield jet. D.Shiel is the one but I fear with GWS going quite well, he won't want to come to us given that they've overtaken us in the flag window.
  23. Thanks for the update. I'm glad we're working on stoppages - we were smashed last week, and I noticed in the stats after the game in the HUN that Freo kicked 6 of their goals from stoppages, we kicked none! We're also 11th for clearances (Swans No. 1) and 17th for Centre Clearances (Swas No. 6) according to the AFL website....
