  1. Let's put him on the Demonland banner. God knows we need a few additions to it, he's on a two year contract and most players that make the banner haven't lasted more than two years anyway I jest but like most others I think this is a good get given where our list is at the moment for many of the reasons stated.
  2. Daniel Harford just said on SEN that his mail is that a deal has been done already and that Leon Cameron has the job. Betting markets have been suspended too.
  3. Is Pedersen really the type we want? Sounds to me like an outstanding VFL player and an ordinary AFL one. We've got loads of those players on our list already.
  4. Some shocking decisions but having Rioli in is nothing short of staggering....I'm not worried about the possessions (he got about 10 in the 2008 GF and was brilliant) but the fact that he's missed about 5 games and wasn't consistent. Pavlich not being in is only slightly less staggering....
  5. How is this even a question? Natanui has just single handedly given the Eagles a 5 goal lead in the first 15 minutes against the Roos. He's going to be the best player in the comp
  6. Hardly doing cartwheels but if we do get him, it shows that the FD at least recognise that we badly need good foot skills and pace. Byrnes has both in abundance, and with most of our experienced blokes gone (Green, Moloney, possibly Davey) he'd be a good get.
  7. This does surprise me a bit, never seen him play apart from the odd bit on telly so can't really judge it. Although he's made slow progress I figured that they might give him some more time given that he's a tall. That said, I'm not upset about it, because having seen him over the past couple of years they must be in a position to know whether or not he'll make it, and to cut him now suggests they just don't think he'll cut the mustard. Real shame given what else was on offer in that draft but as Stuie says, it just didn't pan out....I just wish some of our high pick recruits WOULD pan out though !!!
  8. What are you talking about dazzledavey, he is the perfect Melbourne footballer. Has a dip, has the attributes but makes dumb decisions and is a turnover specialist!!
  9. There are alot of things wrong with this football team - but the most stark, and the thing I just am not sure yet that Neeld gets, it's the absolutely deplorable disposal and decision making of so many players. We actually don't play that bruise free stuff anymore, partly because there are only about two players when in motion who can actually hit a target in space by hand or foot. I only watched for a couple of quarters but lost count of how many shocking kicks or handballs went to the wrong side of our players or just out of bounds. McDonald, MacDonald, Bail, Frawley, Grimes, McKenzie, Fitzpatrick, Nicholson, Jetta, Garland - all of them have some good attributes but none of them can consistently hit targets! We can lift our contested possession capabilities all we like over the next couple of years but until we stop having half our team butcher the ball, we'll never get anywhere. Geelong have lost the contested possession count for most of the year but their incredible skill level gets them across the line all the time.
  10. 1. Jones 2. Clark 3. Rivers 4. Grimes 5. Frawley 6. Watts 7. T.Mac 8. Sylvia 9. McKenzie 10. Howe I would love to have Trenners in there but I just don't think he's performing where he should be at the moment (convinced he's got OP or something) and I've been a bit disappointed with Jamar this year, even pre-injury. Guys like Blease are definitely top 10 for talent but not in my top 10 for performance just yet which is what I'm basing this on.
  11. His kicking was never great but it seems to have got worse....long helicopter bombs to the forward line don't work. Apart from that, he's just not getting the pill enough. Tough in our forward line I know, but he just doesn't have much of an impact when he comes in to the side.
  12. Fair post Bergly. I tend to agree with your analogy regarding foundations of a house, and my frustrations this year are probably not as bad as my frustration last year despite the fact we'll probably end up winning 4 or 5 less games (surely we won't lose to GCS or GWS, so we'll end up with 4). At least this year we aren't playing bruise free stuff, and are at least making attempts to implement defensive structure and to teach players to run hard the other way. We looked great under Bailey when we won the ball and all ran forward against disinterested interstate sides at te G (slightly perplexed as to why we've totally lost that part of the game but I digress). But we had no appetite to run the other way and defend. Interesting that Roos mentioned this in an article earlier in the year and it was clear that he thought Moloney was a main culprit - perhaps one reason why he's gone backwards this year? Coach no longer allowing him to play on BM's terms. Having said all that, the jury is still out on Neeld, but we just won't know what he's like till halfway through next season, until he gets to prune his list and decide on what type of recruits he needs. McCartney seems to be going through a similar thing with the Bulldogs and James Hird called him the best coach he'd ever worked with, so we're not alone. Unfortunately, there are too many "coach killers" in the team at the moment - guys like Bail, Dunn, Garland (what the hell was that kick off the ground last night?!) and Petterd make too many bad errors and decisions which just turn the ball over all the time. I feel for Damien Hardwick because he still has a couple of them on his list - he's defintely got Richmond playing the right way but they have guys who panic and make basic errors too, which costs them like it did against North.
  13. We need mids but mids who can KICK! I am so sick of watching us turn the ball over all the time, and make poor decisions with the ball. Hawthorn kicked 130 points on Saturday without Buddy against supposedly the best defence in the league. Why? Because their disposal skills and decision making is sublime. Thanks god Neeld actually recognised this at the after match presser - I couldn't believe it a few weeks back when he said after a game with more terrible turnovers on display that it was surprising because it "hadn't been our issue". I reckon it's our biggest one.
  14. Clark can play but his best footy has always been in the ruck. Sure, he'll be a handy forward but not sure he'll quite be the messiah we are looking for, particularly if his preference is to play ruck/resting fwd rather than the other way round.
