  1. Please. Guy is coming off a knee reco and a broken toe, and we want to throw him straight into an AFL game having not even played a full scale practice game?! Performing in a 30 minute match simulation at training doesn't count. And I reckon whoever got dropped for him would be filthy given they'd earnt their spot through pre-season performances in games
  2. Earned what?! He hasn't played a bl**dy game for Casey yet! Staggering comment. When will we learn that you don't just put someone in the team purely on the basis of talent when they haven't earnt it through performance. And before you say "Oliver"....he earnt it by playing well in three NAB Challenge games and proving it with performance in games
  3. 6 Viney 5 TMac 4 Oliver 3 Kennedy 2 Watts 1 Jetta Big apologies to Maxy Gawn
  4. Mark Maclure's wooden spoon tip: Melbourne If that doesn't take the cake I don't know what does. I
  5. Oliver not out of place?! FMD, he was sensational!! Off the ground a bit in the 2nd half but he's an absolute clearance machine. Great post. Strange old game, fantastic first and last quarters but GWS showed their class in the 2nd and 3rd, if they'd kicked straight the game was over at 3 quarter time. They need a couple of our big bodied, grunt midfielders, and we need a couple of their silky smooth runners! I thought I came along to see two good young football teams but at times I felt like I was there to watch Razor Ray....talk about an egotistical maniac. Don't think it was him who gave the diabolical in the back against Frost but geez there were some shocking decisions. That free against Viney for a "sling" tackle at the end of the 2nd was unbelievable.
  6. B: Garland Dunn Jetta HB: Lumumba, T McDonald Salem C: Vince N Jones Vandenberg HF: Watts Pederson B.Kennedy F: Garlett Hogan Kent R: Gawn, Viney, Tyson I: Oliver, Brayshaw, Frost, Bugg E: Harmes, M Jones, O McDonald Harmes a bit stiff and may come in for Frost/Pedersen if the Giants lose Cameron and go in with a smaller lineup. I think Heritier has kept himself pretty fit and he'll be right to go in Round 1, more pace and run from the backline will be invaluable. Just can't find a spot for Grimes at the moment though he'll undoubtedly play some games during the year. Isn't it great to see we've got a healthy list with those out (Petracca, Trengove, Dawes) only a few weeks away from being fully available!
  7. Spot on City Dee. I'm tired of the fact that every footy analyst praising Goodwin for our style of play sinks the boot into Roos at the same time. Do people not remember how bad we were when Roos took over? There is no way we could be playing this more attacking brand of footy without implementing key defensive structures, building training standards and a hardworking culture, and recruiting ball winners with grunt. Who has been the one overseeing all that? I have no doubt that Goodwin has had a big influence on our offensive style, but that doesn't mean that Roos isn't on the same page. It's not like he's going to get back into the coaches box for the H&A and say "Hey guys, the NAB challenge style was good, but I'm a defensive coach and I want you to start chipping the ball backwards more". Honestly, David King needs to get a grip. He's so obsessed with sounding cutting edge on his analysis of playing style and being seen as straight talking that he just makes outlandish statements knowing that a few of them may be correct and we'll forget about all the ones that are wrong!!
  8. Piggy is one of the better analysts and I think he has a case; let's not get carried away by the NAB Challenge. We're improving, no doubt, and we've got plenty of grunt but we still butcher the ball too much and the top teams will make us pay time and again. Brisbane were undefeated in last years NAB challenge and look how that turned out....
  9. West Coast Hawthorn Collingwood Geelong Bulldogs Fremantle GWS Richmond Premiers: West Coast R/U: Geelong Spoon: Essendon Brownlow: Ablett Coleman: Kennedy Rising Star: Mills Melbourne wins: 9
  10. Our supporters have marched to the G for the Queens Birthday game for X number of years....look at how that's impacted the result! We shouldn't be worried about opposition clubs organising rallies, celebrations for milestone games etc, because if we're going to be a decent side, we need to overcome all that hype hullaballo and win the game anyway. An Essendon rally and fanfare shouldn't make a rats ar$e difference to how well we play, and in fact, it might keep us on our toes given how bad we've been in recent times when we've played a team we're expected to beat.
  11. B : Jetta, Dunn, Garland HB: Melksham, T.Mac, Lumumba C : Vince, Viney, Salem HF: Brayshaw, Dawes, Vandenberg FF: Petracca, Hogan, Garlett Foll: Gawn, Jones, Tyson IC : Watts, Pedersen, Bugg, Kennedy Stiff to miss out: Frost, Stretch, ANB, Oliver (depends on his pre-season a bit) and Harmes. Pedo is only in because we need a second ruck but I guess Dawes could do some of it if needed. I would love to fit Trengove in....doubt he'll be cherry ripe in Round 1 but if his foot is right, he slots straight in and am hoping he could be an added bonus this year.
  12. There's no way the Bummers will take BOTH Curnow and Weidemann. They are desperate for mids, that's why they'd be peeved we jumped them at 3 because Parish is exactly what they need. I think one of Weidemann or Curnow will be available at 7 and we'll nab them. No idea which one I prefer at this point but I think we have to take Parish at 3.
  13. This is all off the top of my head so stand to be corrected slightly but.... Swapped Boyd for pick 4 and Griffen...hardly a bust. O'Rourke and Plowman haven't worked out but they still got a late round first pick so not a total disaster unlike our Morton, Watts, Gysberts picks (I'd add Trengove but jury still out due to injury) Essentially swapped Tyson for Josh Kelly who'll be a gun, win-win They ended up getting pick 7 and 19 in return for Jaksch Mark Whiley Buntine is average but Hoskin Elliot is definitely not a bust. GWS will be a powerhouse and it's just a matter of time. We seem to have a good relationship with these expansion clubs in terms of swapping picks which is interesting.
  14. Fair point, forgot about that. I still think I'd punt on O'Meara although acknowledge it's a risk.
  15. I agree that fully fit, O'Meara is the better player. How about we swap him for Howe and pick 6, and grab Dion in Free Agency next year
  16. I just don't know why GC want Howe and why they would want Watts. Howe and Watts are both quite soft, the GC need more hardness.
  17. How is he mortgaging his team's future by trading first round picks for a 20 year old CHF who has runs on the board? McCarthy has another 10 years left! Very simplistic assessment you've made. Bennell is only 22 as well, it's not like they're bringing in Hodge and Lewis for a one year tilt.
  18. I still reckon O'Meara is the one we're chasing for this year...or one out of left field, maybe David Swallow? Prestia we'll aim for next year.
  19. I reckon Bugg, Kennedy and Melksham (which we already know) have definitely agreed to come to us, hence the reason why Mahoney has been more forthcoming about them. Howe is 99% gone too based on the way that Mahoney answered about him today...they're basically waiting for him to tell him which club is going to pay him the most cash. No doubt there is some stuff happening in the background which may or may not land us an A grader so fingers crossed.
  20. It was exactly the same as the Trade Radio interview, both questions and answers. You'd think that Schwarz and Marko would have tried to think of something different to ask. Even something like "How determined are the club to pry an A-grade midfielder in this trading period, and will they be prepared to part with their first pick to do so, or are they intending to wait until free agency 2016 when players such as Prestia, Sidebottom will be free agents?"
  21. No question about that in my mind. Howe could have signed ages ago but wanted to "test the market". He can't complain about not feeling the love if we aren't offering him a contract anymore. He made his bed and he can lie in it.
  22. Great winner, humble and down to earth. Very composed despite Bruce creaming himself with every cringeworthy question. It really has become a midfielders medal. Top 10 were mids before Goldstein. Bit ridiculous that players like Tom Mac and Heath Shaw didn't poll a vote. The umps really need to start taking notice of players outside the centre square!
  23. Good smother on Milkshake in that highlights package...it's a sign! .
  24. As Robbie57 said, this was inevitable but can't help but feel a tinge of sadness as all four have been great clubmen and gave great effort. Jordie in particular is someone I'll remember as the ONLY player during 186 who was giving total effort during the game. It's a shame that his disposal and decision making (like the other three) just wasn't up to scratch. I wish them all the best. All of them overcame significant challenges to play AFL footy.
  25. And why would Heeney come to us on the basis of Paul Roos? Roos is only coaching for one more year! There is no way in the world the Swans will let him go.
