Mark it down now another season 2008 coming. Richmond being the Cats this time. Some team will click between now and September to challenge them. Please god let it be us!

Agree with a lot of your post but always see Lever as the third tall floating across to intercept. I see a lot of faults in Gaffs game but our inside depth sees him as a good target for us to play that wing role. He has 4 to 5 years left. Hannan, Fritsch, Nibbler and a couple of others will float in and out of the side. I think Jeffy is in decline and in 2 to 3 years wont be with us.

Pre-Game Warm up Music. Hells-Bells or Highway to HELL
Pennant St Dee replied to DV8's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hells Bells for me. Highway to Hell according to one urban legend is about a road (Canning Hwy)which travels from Fremantle to Vic Park. The Raffles hotel where The Valentines and then ACDC used to play Gigs many moons ago -
Forget looking to far ahead. This week is massive the 3 games in 11 days is huge just like the accumulation of the 4 six day breaks was last season. Most sides would have pencilled Meth Coast, Freo, Suns and North in as wins this season at home or away. Saints need a win and just like the Blues are due. If we've learned anything it has to be don't get ahead of yourself. All I'm focussing on is the Saints this week

Waterman has been good 3 weeks in a row. Just like other years they seem to reward accumulation of games over the actual game of that particular round. With Round 1 being the odd exception each year

Hogan will be managed carefully. Big guy doing a power of work and this will be our 3rd game in 11 days. We will have a couple of changes based on that one would think

Missed Opportunity - ANZAC Eve Crowd
Pennant St Dee replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree Dr G this game and QB are our chance (along with continued improvement) to be a destination club. I'm heading over for this and can't wait -
Seriously every team knows how every team plays and all go in to counter it. This can change your own game plan dramatically meaning your players may struggle to adjust. It's one thing to know how to try and counter an opposition it's another to execute it. That thought process would be beyond many on here

Backline Setup and Structure
Pennant St Dee replied to stevethemanjordan's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree a lot with you and Steve especially favour adopting the deeper press over going man on man because we lack pace in our backline. No dramatic overhaul needed but pulling the team press back and defending as a team deep should allow the forward line to open up for Hoges and Garlett. Hannan Kent and Nibblers run along with Petraccas developing smarts may benefit from this. A bit more composure with our ball use and not leaving our defensive 50 wide open would certainly stem those poor runs of back to back goals we've been seeing -
out: Frost, Bugg, Harmes, Melksham ins: Hunt, Weid,Stretch, Hannan Jetta OMac Hibberd Hunt Lever Salem Vince Tyson Stretch Petracca Weideman Kent Garlett Hogan Hannan R: Gawn, Oliver Jones Brayshaw, ANB, Lewis, Fritsch

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 4
Pennant St Dee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6.Oliver wasn't as clean as usual but gave his all for 4 quarters and one who tackled 5. Salem like Clarrie had a crack and used it well (one of a few) 4. Jones was given a job and did it 3. Omac did a decent job on Roughie who got a couple late 2. Gawn won the contest with [censored] boy and was let down by our poor handling at the drop of the ball 1. Hogan we were that bad after the first quarter Im going that far back was dominant early -
Yep how good is it my boys played footy yesterday and this morning, took them to the Ammos yesterday while the misses had me time so she's now taken the boys off to the shops and left me with the tv, some Cricketers Arms and the dog

Werribee Tigers v Casey Scorpions - VFL Round 2
Pennant St Dee replied to WERRIDEE's topic in Melbourne Demons

Can't wait for this

Impossible to predict this one 2 sides not yet hitting their straps both started against the Cats getting the ball in quick and high to expose the Cats defense. Hawks delivery was much better than ours. If we get on top in the middle and get the ball in quick but either to space or a positive 1 on 1 we can lock it in and capitalise on forward pressure. If our delivery inside 50m or on the quick break is poor they will win with their ball use and quicks catching us out on the rebound. Clarko will look to isolate Roughie on Oscar. I dont expect all of Stratton Frawley Sicily and O'Brien down back. O'Brien may play forward to prevent Lever zoning off on Gunstan and Roughie. If they drop one of the tall defenders Mcevoy will try and drift forward to prevent Max doingthe same

ANZAC Eve and QB are massive for us for sponsorship and as a destination club moving forward. Any player considering returning to Victoria or moving clubs would seriously give consideration to the opportunity to play regularly at the G and in 2 blockbusters a season playing in front of 85-90+k on ANZAC Eve and 65-75k on QB. Make finals and put together a couple of good finals campaigns and we set ourselves right up

Coburg Lions v Casey Scorpions - VFL Round 1
Pennant St Dee replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe Cotchin. I think Shiels goes to Clarrie this week and Gus may come in for the run with role -
IMO has been steady since half time against the Cats. Has done very little wrong in the last 10 quarters of footy and should hold his position.

Sorry LH Worsfold is a lead by example type and great motivator but certainly is tactically inept. Meth Coast team of the early noughties had no plan B and survived on their supreme midfield talent. The brains behind their resurgence in 2011-12 was Phil Walsh. The message from coaches like Worsfold gets very stale after a while

Subiaco are no ordinary WAFL side they are the best club in the comp and have been for the last 30 years. Jarred Schofield is a gun coach and has them well drilled
