  1. I'm in the same boat as you old dee. Oldest born in 2006 and the youngest the year after. Talk about bad timing lost both to Pies and Hawks. As you say life goes on I'm just happy they have an interest in the sport and they share in my hatred for Meth Coast. They like their mother (Blues) all paid up Dees members
  2. If we take Parish over Oliver we don't get near finals If Smith and Spencer don't get injured against Richmond we probably win and play finals If St Kilda took Trac instead of Mccartin we struggle to win QB It's full of what ifs Thank god the FD looks forward not back
  3. ^^^ This the so called superdraft next year is based on having plenty of depth in terms of going very deep in quality players A high number of quality talls On another point our FD was one who got their heads around the Academy points system quicker than others. Don't be surprised if they have also prepared for live trading coming in fairly soon
  4. 29. Zac Bailey - I hope 31. Jack Petrucelle 36. Gryan Meirs 47. Ben Miller
  5. Was outstanding at WAFL levefor about 5 years before retiring
  6. Hurley always had that nastiness which IMO gets that big tick It's either in you or it's not. He was always going to be a decent player
  7. The running spaces in the West is a myth. Subiaco (which wont be used anymore) was longer than the G but not as wide it's why the forward press, full press and web defences Freo and Meth Coast adopted between 2011 & 2016 worked
  8. Really happy Trenners got another chance, if any footy story deserves a happy ending than this is it. Best of luck Jack
  9. Judd - ticks all 6 Ablett - ticks all 6 Buddy - ticks all 6 You tick 5 criteria and you're going to be a champion of the game. You tick 4 criteria with 6 being one of them and IMO barring injury you're likely to be an A grader
  10. Yep and IMO ticking 3 & 6 are the two most important
  11. I never actually said anywhere in my post you don't need to be able to kick. I'm saying being an elite kick at TAC and underage level means very little in terms of being able to use those skills at the next level due to panicking under pressure. Think Strauss and Maric vs Matt Crouch and Sam Powell Pepper. Yes it's a skill in the game but there are other far more important traits to look for in a player STMJ will know what I'm talking about here 1. Speed- leg speed, acceleration and/or decision making 2.Good Size - height and/or frame 3. Impact - ball use and/or contested impact 4. Skill - hand, foot and vision 5. Game sense 6. Workrate - endurance, repeat effort, DRIVE/DESIRE Tick 3 or more of those and you're likely to be a player at a fairly decent level and worth a look at. Dependent on how many or which particular ones you tick and that determines your draft position.
  12. Talk up kicking skills all you want, but it means little if you can't make good decisions under pressure Plenty of draftees come in touted as elite kicks but they are rarely exposed to high intensity pressure at TAC and colt levels. Once they take the leap to the next level they panic under pressure and their disposal suffers.
  13. Agree with you we'll win games we don't expect to and drop games we should win. I wont be surprised if Meth Coast with a big lisy turnover and an injection of younger players are close to cooked by Round 22 and I expect Freo to be the more difficult of both the WA sides next season so I don't see that as a negative having to only play Meth Coast in Perth
  14. I don't think he'll last to our first pick but like the look of him
  15. Are you a black duck supporter? Saw Tallan Ames outsmart Liam Ryan with good body use very good WAFL defender. I think of Ryan as another Shane Yarran in terms of ability, Subi had to go down and collect Ryan from Armadale for every training session otherwise he nore than likely wouldn't have turned up. They looked after him really well so puts anotger mark against him in terms of on going motivation Ans as for Basil Syphilis can't stand that man. Played Colts against him many moons ago arrogant Wan#@r but could play
  16. He had no impact against Peel when they had their full compliment of defenders in the side. He was ineffective against them in 2016 & 2017 which is why as I've said in other threads I have my doubts on him. Most Meth Coast supporters are wetting themselves because they have never actually seen him live. We know what their supporter base is like and they have no time for the WAFL. Anything they know anout him is based on his highlights, the Meth Coast Australian, 6PR and Channel 7 pumping him up.
  17. I'm hoping not. I'd like to have an annual Round 1game Saturday arvo vs Collingwood at the G with the QB return. Split both gates
  18. Good team Big Carl just a couple of changes to the 22 in bold. I loved Connolly when I was a kid before he was cut down by injury
  19. Poorly thought out wtf they held their nerve after everyone in the footy media said they were ridiculous to expect pick 2 for Lachie Weller. Not every kid goes home after their first comtract if I was Freo I'd be taking the two Vic country boys in Davies-Uniacke and Dow if they are available
  20. He's actually a beautiful kick and I saw him kick some sensational goals during the season which I'm surprised didn't make the highlights reel. As I've said my knock on him is work ethic, second efforts and a real issue to deal with quality defenders which he's going to get at AFL level. Not sure he can take the next step
  21. Well said Daisy got my vote not because of gender but because ee are a club AFL, AFLA & VFL. Daisy is a great representative on field and off. Jetta is in the same boat and he is an absolute champion of the club
  22. What about Freo yes they lost a good young player in Weller but to get pick 2 and Matera in return was A+. The draft this year is still going to give you some good players down to around pick 40 what it lacks is the depth in the clear gun players after around pick 6. Freo have 2 picks in the top 5 and also got their prime target in Wilson who will combine well with the Hill brothers
  23. Tmac Lewis Jetta Hibberd Jones Daisy Viney Clarry Trac Hunt In that order from left to right based on 2017 apologies to Nibbler
  24. Funny with some of those names you mentioned Chaser. Was talking to a few of my Meth Coast supportingmates over a beer last night and I said to them about there being a core group of good WA boys this year. Not stars but good footballers with strong work ethic which could work out well long term. I think they wont take Naughton with their first rounder their defence isn't really an issue outside of struggling with pace and at ground level which he doesn't really help. They really need a lot of work through their midfield with a long standing lack of pace and now with Priddis and Mitchell gone they are going to need some help on the inside. They also seriously lack depth through the middle. Another long term issue has been a small hard working forward with some nouse I think their 1st pick at 13 and their second at around 20 if one is still available will be used to shore up those issues The three players I think they would target are all Vic boys in Andrew Brayshaw, Jack Higgins and maybe Jayden Stephenson. I believe they will take whichever of those boys is available and I expect they'll all be gone by their second pick From there I believe they will target the WA boys in Oscar Allen - really like this kid and one of our boys from the Northern suburbs hard worker and smart footballer who is capable of building a tank and turning into a big midfielder. Brandon Starcevich - solid hard working good size player who will work his arse off to get the best out of himself can play mid Jake Patmore - another hard worker and big time accumulator. Jake is a standout at colts and good ball user Sam Taylor - cheaper in terms of pick required than Naughton and like Barrass they will play the older citizen (McKenzie) and allow the kid to take time to develop in the WAFL Brayden Ainsworth - country kid who moved to Perth late to get serious and has flourished. Another mid but just something about this kid who knows how to find and use the ball. This kid is a footballer Liam Baker- overlooked last season but been really good at Subiaco this year. May go as a rookie but good smart footballer and unlike Cripps and Hill he can run through the middle
  25. Maybe Hemingway but it is better to make a decision than sit on your hands
