The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
They don't need Florent with Shiel, Saad, McKenna, Merrett, Parish, Fantasia and Heppell they have plenty of outside run they desperately need inside bulls. Their posturing has seen them miss out on Powell-Pepper and possibly a pick through Fantasia. They should get the Saints, Port and Carlton involved with the Papley, Jones, Howard and Danniher trades and try and end up with a Ross, Dunstan, Powell-Pepper and a decent pick. At the end of the day their window is going to close ( if it's even open)pretty quick with their aging key position players

Jon Ralph says Demons are effectively a basket-case team
It was a milestone for normal people but for you it doesn't fit your agenda. How'd we go at the Cattery in Corey Enrights 300th Against Richmond after Tom Hafey's death Don't bring a knife to a gunfight Swyl

Yeah, that first finals appearance in 12 years was such a let down Fill your beer up Swyl, it's half empty

Scott Lucas from memory, but Hird did float forward so may have. Matty Whelan knocked Hird out with a perfectly timed bump in that game.

Good and well done. Yes a tragedy he had a great game in the Elimination final against the Bombers his last and he looked like he was set to cement himself

Try not exaggerate to much mate, we'd settle for 8 each week or 4 with 5 assists??

Not sure but from memory I seem to recall the Mitch Clark deal being done on a Saturday

I have to interject with this tripe. I was at that game in 2005 against Essendon and no side was ever going to beat the boys that day. They played like a side possessed to honour their teammate and his memory. We were on fire for the first half of 2005 but as was the case for 04-06 we fell into mid season slumps and in 05 we regrouped late to make the finals, I recall the late Jeff White goal against the Dogs to put the finals destiny in our hands. So if you want to pot the club by all means go ahead, but don't make [censored] up and certainly don't taint a legacy and the way the club won a game in his honour

If May, Lever, Hibberd, Jetta all have good pre seasons and stay fit it will go a long way to setting us up. Mids keep it simple and the outside run and spread should make us a better side. 4 of Tmac, Melk, Hannan, AVB, Weid, Fritsch playing regularly, fit and consistently we'll be fine. Others will float in and out to play roles. Not saying we'll be guaranteed top 4 or flag contenders, but if all the above occurs and we're a 6th to 10th side with just a momentum and confidence needed

If I'm them I'm going to complete the rebuild and assure Longmuir we're in for the long haul. Their backline with Pearce, Hamling, Ryan and Wilson is good. Logue is going to be a good defender. I'm sitting Bell down and saying get 12, 18 from St Kilda, if you can get steak knives get them Pick 6 goes on Jackson that gives you Darcy and Jackson for 10-12 yrs. Lobb can give Darcy a chop out whilst Jackson develops Pick 12 goes on Robertson they need midfield depth and this kids a born leader Pick 18 goes on Sharp unless someone bids for Henry. Sharp is a beautiful user of the footy and will be Stephen Hill's replacement off halfback Pick 22 goes on whichever of the above you didn't get. I'd even consider taking Sharp at 18 to guarantee him and let Henry go backing myself to take Elijah Taylor with a matched bid I see this draft as their opportunity to set themselves up with a variety of positions filled. The bonus for them is they're all WA boys so no go home factor

Good summation mate, it takes time. Core group of 80-130 games + and 25-29 yrs average over a sustained period. Harmes and Clarrie are our 2 best mids and Gus needs to get back into that echelon. Viney will always be a competitive beast. Tmac when fit will be good at creating space for Weod once he starts to believe. ANB is an interesting one, several times I'd have traded and delisted him, he has frustrated the hell out of me for the last couple of years but you never now 3 to 4 solid seasons of a good number of games under his belt and a good pre season it becomes in grained, I belong, composure, strong tank and ability to gut run continuously. You get less fatigued and the basics become that consistently with disposal and decision making

Well said Jaded, we are becoming like the Cats and Hawks who identify what they want/need and just get it done. Be nice to follow their successes on field. Dockers supporters are fuming over Bell here in WA, last year they felt he was cutting his teeth but his performance this season especially in the Hill trade hasn't enhanced his reputation

From my brother a Dockers member and another mate also a member both virtually said the same thing Kicking is not great, but has improved the last couple of years with him getting fitter and less fatigued His gut running is going to be hard to replace(especially with Hill also going) he just brings others into the game with the options and space he creates. A steal for a player they both see as still on the up

Nah he'll stay at Carlton for life, country boy who didn't spend much time in Perth and from what I've heard, absolutely loves living in Melbourne but why wouldn't you. Great City especially on his wage

Can't remember who mentioned McKay but I'd give Carlton 3 and 26 for 9 and Mckay

Unless something comes up really good I'm expecting us to hold firm till draft night. Once the indicative draft order is soughted, clubs will start putting their feelers out as to who's taking who. They generally have a fair idea who's takiing which player in the top 10 and once that's known I think we might get some offers in for 3 in live trading
-

Not when we were up and running they weren't. Hoges was good in the first half of the season until injuries kicked in Garlett virtually won us the game up at the Gabba in Round 3 but wasn't a big factor in the season, from Anzac round onwards Melksham, Hannan, Spargo, Kent and AVB were the important ground level forwards in 2018

Agree, but the usual suspects couldn't help themselves on the Frost thread.

Pathetic post, stereotyping. You know absolutely nothing about me or my background, if you did you'd understand how ridiculous your comments were about me, my parents and Grandparents are. I've seen and lived poverty mate, but it pales into insignificance to what my parents and grandparents went through. Absolute garbage

Why are the Saints so attractive?
They're going very aggressive which may bite them. Think they are still a fair way off and would be better served to continue topping up and focus on Ben King next season. Still pick up a few through trade but 5 when you have little to give
