All the noise is he will be there round 1, expectations are high really up and running extremely fit at the moment. Fyfe is the ultimate professional in terms of preparation and getting his body right. With all the mileage building done for pre season the increased contact will become more prevalent and any issues with Fyfes leg will start to rise then.

Top 5 GWS - imo should finish top and hurt from last year s prelim loss. They are strong everywhere inside ball winners outside run and polish. Numerous tall forward options and classy players at ground level. They aren't shabby down back either and use the ball well off hb. Mummy is very important but not the key ingredient he was 2 years ago. They should win it but Prelim & GF anything can happen Dogs, Swans and Crows to make up the 4 for mine. Swans did well to get games into young players. Dogs put together a great September when everything went right but they deserved that considering the horror run through the year with injury. Crows are exciting and plenty of players to throw through the middle, lacked really good pace last season but some of the younger players on the list have good pace Meth Coast are still going to be strong Mitchell is all class and the influence he will have freeing up Priddis and Shuey should be huge. Sheed being fit provides some more size and composure around the stoppages. Josh Kennedy may struggle with Mitchell coming in and delivering the ball to his chest which will be foreign to him but I think he'll flourish. 1 on 1 is his weakness but on a lead he is almost unbeatable. Petrie I think will be ok as an out and out ruckman. They wont drop many at Subi and only need to pinch 3 or 4 away to be pushing top 4. Of the rest of the 8 from 2016 North Slide - big turnover on the list and rebuilding Cats unsure could hold or slide but IMO wont improve - to reliant on Danger and Selwood. May have a good run with the older players and give it one more good crack but a lot of big holes to shore up Hawks slide -been the benchmark but the signs were there for all to see the end was coming. Gibson getting more work put in to him Hodge close to done. Mitchell and Lewis absolute A graders who are almost impossible to replace The improvers Saints - like what they have yes Roo and Joey are still important but the kids they have are quality team/culture makers like Dunstan Ross & Gresham. Carlisle imo is a gun CHB and Steven has taken big steps to become almost A grade Dees - end of season I was worried about the boys thinking it will just happen. The inclusions of Lewis and Hibberd are huge to provide more experienced heads and assist Brendan Macartney Goodwin and Vrossy with setting the culture and standards along with Chunk and Viney. Gus Trac and Hoges all coming back in good nick shows the boys know what is required. We can finish anywhere from 5th to 13th but anything but finals should be a disappointment Suns - love their spine it is potentially elite. No longer reliant on Ablett and certainly due a good run with injury. Ainsworth will step in straight away and be very damaging at the feet of Lynch and Wright Freo - can't go much lower got games into younger players last year and a fit Fyfe is huge. They will push finals and shape the 8 with their home form but the younger players will tire in the second half of the season Bombers - Merrett Parish Danniher Francis and Hartley all get a really good chop out from some really good quality players. Hard for them not to improve. I expect Heppell to have a huge season

Oscar Clavarino and Luke Davies-Uniacke
Pennant St Dee replied to 254alonzoraymond's topic in Melbourne Demons
I remember Oscar Clavarino from WA vs Vic Country terrible haircut with a long pony tail which actually made him standout as someone you remember and recognise when he goes near the ball and track his movement. Have to say (and it will be in my match post of the U18 champs somewhere)the boy was a very good defender. Read the play well and was brave backing into contests. I seem to recall him leaving his opponent on occasion to go third man up or drop in front of a player to intercept. Will be interested to see how he goes this season -

On what i have seen at WAFL and how quickly some improved last season don't underestimate how good Blakeney, Weller, Hughes, Alex Pearce, Neale, Griffin Logue and Harley Balic can form a very good nucleus in a few years time. Football changes very quickly

HS Bicks weighs your AFL team’s chances with his 2017 preview
Pennant St Dee replied to JAG007's topic in Melbourne Demons
But if we are being honest after Bails rebuild Neeld brought us to absolute rock bottom. I look at us entering our 4th year of a major rebuild and most of the blocks are in place. The cement just needs to mature and strengthen -
Training - Friday 2nd December, 2016
Pennant St Dee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Cheers again for all the training reports. I am sure I speak for most Dees fans living outside of Victoria, it is much appreciated. -
I think we need The Ox to jump on the bandwagon re this jumper Emailing the club and the AFL is one thing but we need a constant media voice to get the AFL to listen. Remember the uproar before the 2014 Elimination Final which caused the AFL to back flip and allow Port (the home side) to wear their dark jumper even though it clashed with the Tigers clash jumper more than Ports white clash jumper which the AFL had originally told Port they had to wear
-
FFS I maintain if Gold Coast can wear red against sides who have dark coloured jumpers I see no reason why we can't wear red with a blue yoke, white shorts and red socks. We are red & blue

2016 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Pennant St Dee replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sorry Chaser haven't seen as much Colts this season with Junior and Amatuers commitments. I know the Fullgrabe family and they have plenty of footballing pedigree but Bradley is not one I've seen a lot of -
2016 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Pennant St Dee replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
Darcy Cameron has become a forward who can rotate through the ruck since his draft year. He was very 1 dimensional prior to missing out in his draft year and has worked very hard on his one on one contested marking to become that big forward. Meth Coast and Freo will be looking at him with picks 40 & 54. I am not sure he will be available at pick 47 and I am not sure if he is that we should use this pick on him, given the fact this draft seems to run very deep and I really like Zac Fisher, Luke Strnadica & Liam Baker as WA boys who may be available with this pick. Jeremy Goddard is another ruck from WA who was the main ruck option for WA in this years championships. He was very good at centre clearances and around the ground as a pure ruckman, he doesn't have the upside that English has with regard to foot skills and mobility nor does he impact greatly with regard to contested marking for a boy of his size. Goddard is a very big boy and probably needs to do a fair bit of work on his tank and fitness to impact around the ground but he is potentially a very good long term target if given time to develop. I am sure the FD will be all over exactly what they are looking for with regard to a Ruckman or a Forward ruck and they will have plenty of options -
Cheers for the updates Saty and DS much appreciated by those not living in Victoria

If you are a member get onto the club early.

Yep read that after I had posted very difficult period and will be very important for us to win Queens Birthday and at least 1 of those 3(6 day breaks) at least
-
Pretty happy with the fixture overall and 6 day breaks are overrated. Where they become an issue is when you start getting them back to back. The 6 day break against the Cats is early in the season the second is after Anzac Eve and the Bombers will be coming off 5 days. The one that I am not happy with is against Meth Coast in Perth when we will be on back to back 6 day breaks and a long road trip. Overall though on face value it is a good draw.
-
Jeremy Goddard and Darcy Cameron both from Claremont. Goddard was better at this years championship than Tim English at centre bounces and as a pure ruckman but English after a late growth spurt has massive upside and is very good with his footskills and at gathering the ball on the move below his knees

Best 22 for Round 1, 2017
Pennant St Dee replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jetta Tmac Omac Hibberd Frost Hunt Vince Tyson Stretch Petracca Pedo Lewis Garlett Hogan Watts Gawn Viney Jones I/C Oliver Brayshaw Salem Kent Obviously depends upon match ups with opponents, weather/ground conditions and injuries. Melksham, Bugg, Vanders, Wagner and Harmes will come in and out of the side as will others I have put in best 22. What I like about our side/squad is plenty of rotations through the guts, several who can run of HB and a couple of players who can play run with roles. All of Jones Viney Lewis Melksham Oliver Vince Petracca Brayshaw Tyson and Watts can do stints on the ball. All of Vince Hibberd Hunt Salem and Lewis can play off HB We certainly possess a lot of hard big bodied players which our club has lacked for so long -
2016 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Pennant St Dee replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was very impressed with Ainsworth as an underage player at the 2015 championships -
Been impressed so far. Viney and Taylor have been very shrewd for the last few trade/draft periods. No need to upgrade any rookies unless out of necessity. Take the best available at our picks players will fall down the pecking order they always do

FAREWELL BEN NEWTON VIV MICHIE AND MAX KING
Pennant St Dee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks for the service boys and best of luck moving forward to all of you in footy and life in general -
If as suggested the season commences with Blues vs Tigers on March 23rd I think it is a bit of a quick turnaround (within the first 4 rounds of the season) for the Hawks and Cats to play each other twice. Remember they always play each other in the Easter Monday game which next season will fall on April 17th
-
Think Meth Coast may have to use 34 on FS Jake Waterman
-
Thanks for your services Dawesy, I'm sure you hoped for it to work out better and I have no doubt your legacy off the field will provide a wealth of knowledge and benefit in our future

2016 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Pennant St Dee replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
If Freo take English at 7 I wouldn't thin they take Cameron, they will look at taking who is left out of Logue, Powell-Pepper or Rotham with their second pick
