This squad or at least the majority hasn't had it. They have seen improvement every year since 2014, yes there has been injuries and the interupted pre seasons having an impact but a feeling of natural progression and it will just happen may have set in to what at the core of it is still an inexperienced unit in the nucleus

No issue with what occurred yesterday but FFS, lets see how he comes back for pre season before we start anointing May as our Captain for next season. Some absolute hypocrites on here who slated the club for forking out a first round pick on May and not doing their due diligence with his lack of conditioning, discipline and fondness for the frothies. Now we've got the next Voss/Reiwoldt on our list

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 15

Was originally thinking we might only go with Frost and May against Hipwood and Mcstay, but they also have Mcinhernney to throw forward and give Martin a chop out. Will be interesting

After his in and under game last week Lewis may be part of the rotations,. I think final I/C will be Hore, Hibberd, Petty and 1 of Lewis/ANB Rotations through middle Viney, Oliver, Gus Trac, Jones and Harmes + 1 of Nibbler/Lewis

Demonland is actually being ruined by one particular poster and members need to stop feeding MB. It's getting unbearable to have to scroll through content to find some decent discussion which is not someone trying to have the last word

it's an absolute disgrace "The Architect" of brushing everything under the carpet between 2001 and 2007 Trevor Nesbitt is still CEO. He was told exactly what was going on by Ken Judge
-
it will come and why wouldn't we bring in a player lacking mobility against a side who loves to create run and carry opportunities from their back half
-
Really you ask, it ain't you. I like your input, don't always agree with it but it is balanced. Think along the lines of multiple user names

What it highlights is the lack of understanding of how clubs work and outright blind faith placed in articles and what is said in press conferences. Only days ago the regular hand ringers were slating the club for not having a review, to believe that was nonsense. They are many of the same who probably believe the FD didn't review the prelim. Don't expect overnight turnaround gameplan tweeking will have been happening for a while but won't be set in for a while I notice the usual troll is making ridiculous claims again. Won't be long before this thread is derailed

2 weeks ago against Collingwood and they rolled us at the G in 2017 after we got out to a 6 goal lead from memory, Cam Mcarthy kicked a late one for them

Key forwards - let's go shopping!
Pennant St Dee replied to Matsuo Basho's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes Mel I agree with you there, it's improved in the last month with some selfless acts and once confidence improves you will see a few more moments of brilliance which comes with belief. ND's speech to the playing group was all about that, show courage in difficult times, conduct yourself in the right manner -
I coach a team of boys who every year I show Danners speach and I ask them what do you take from that. First year was you're just showing us that because he's Melbourne but they were only 10 years of age at the time. Every year after BF#1 they have taken the true meaning of his speech. He's an inspiration to many and created a legacy for many generations. His speech whilst about his grandson Cooper was very much directed towards our playing group and bouncing back from the disappointment of 2019, when we've faced many hurdles. When you're down, don't play the blame game forget woe is me( many posters on here should take heed of that) in hard times show courage, act accordingly and look for opportunity and you will transcend. I hope they took it on board

I get inspired by players backing into packs, sprinting to make a spoil to prevent an easy mark or score against, crashing a pack and putting their body on the line to bring a ball to ground for a teammate, I get inspired by chase down tackles or a player continuing to chase down an opponent when all is lost to apply enough pressure to cause a skill error. Those attributes are what makes successful teams and regular 4 points will inspire me along with being regular finals contenders. That's how I roll Mel, very much meat and potatoes. Liam Ryan's mark over Max was great, but his 70m run to get there impressed me more -

You get 6 points for one dead in front and 6 points for flashy goals. Jeff Garlett continues trying to kick flashy highlight goals as he has done since coming back into the side when he could a) run further and invite contact and handball to a teammate free who the opponent has just run off b) run further and kick a simple goal as opposed to trying to dribble a goal from 25m+ out or on some ridiculous angle c) play the %'s and feed it off to a teammate in a much better position as opposed to trying to dribble a goal from 25m+ out or on some ridiculous angle Those examples above have happened on numerous occasions which along for his lack of forward pressure and constant avoidance of physical contact are why he's not a team player -
Jordan Lewis To Retire this Year
Pennant St Dee replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
because he lacks class and will go to his grave saying we got it wrong -
I agree Lyon should be in but the biggest problem with the HOF is the desire to put players more recently retired in over others who graced the game in years gone by. Hunter and Barker should have been in well before now Should there be more inductees each year IMO yes, I don't feel it would diminish the inductees. There's also the issue of spreading the inductees across the states and territories. Several HOF members Tredrea, Matthew Lloyd, Gavin Brown, Brad Johnson, Matthew Scarlett, Michael O'Loughlin IMO are all behind Garry and outside of Johnson does winning a flag hold more weight, it shouldn't but seems to. In terms of Brad Hardie whether you're to young to have seen him play, he was an absolute gun of a footballer with great skills. He played well over 100 games in the WAFL when it was at its absolute peak before crossing to Footscray. When Hardie played in the WAFL sides like South Fremantle, Swan Districts and Claremont would have matched any in the country. Hardie broke into the South side at 16 and was unlucky not to play in their side which lost the grand final that season. He was a regular the following year kicking 3 in the Premiership win. He was always a big game player winning 2 Simpson medals for BOG performances in State of Origin sides and also won 2 Tassie medals as the best WA player over the 2 state games in 2 seperate seasons. To win those medals he beat the likes of Glendining, Maurice Rioli, the Krakouer brothers, Brian Peake, Ken Hunter, Robert Wiley(who should also be in), Stephen Michael, Peter Bosustow, Wayne Blackwell, Leon Baker, Gary Buckenara, Mark Bairstow among others. No mean feet and well deserved inductee. Sadly there are plenty of other Brad Hardies out there who aren't in and likely will be overlooked for more recent retirees

Jordan Lewis To Retire this Year
Pennant St Dee replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
Been a good player for the club, played a role in setting standards and expectations. On field was a leader and helped get us over the line in games we previously lost. Haters going to hate and never admit they might be wrong. Showing there lack of class to the end I expected he'd spend the second half of his 3rd year at Casey but thought it would be under a different set of circumstances. Cheers Lewy and all the best to you and your family in whatever path you choose -
Hunter, Hardie and Barker all good inductees Quite ironic Hardie and Malthouse being inducted in the same night. Hardie still holds a grudge

Pruess becomes first ruck option if Gawn is injured Pruess does not have the mobility to play as a permanent forward whilst giving Gawn a chop out nor is he that good a mark to play that role Pruess does not have the tank to run out an AFL game as first ruck option Forget the SCG it isn't big enough a ground to expose his weaknesses You will see a trimmer Pruess next season and beyond
-
That's nonsense depth is to play a role when half a dozen players made up of VFL level or inexperienced kids need to come in. TPF39 covered it well We've had games where we have had to play close to a dozen of those types. That's inarguable
